Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1728 - 1022: Dark Princess_2
Then Tami used a voice that only adventurers could hear and said, "Based on what she just said, I guess this might be a residual shadow that disappears after appearing once. Since she’s willing to teach us magic, let’s learn all of it here in one go, otherwise, there will be no such opportunity again."
"Yeah, yeah!" Everyone nodded obediently, showing enthusiasm for self-improvement in their eyes.
Out of politeness, the members of the Skyrim Strategy Group made a gesture of letting Maru go first to learn.
"Then I won’t be polite," Maru looked at the Dark Princess and said, "Thank you for your kindness. I’d like to learn the magic of Ulashiro."
"Great, then I’ll draw the summoning symbol here. Although we’re not from the same era, using the summoning symbol allows us to meet across time. If you want to learn magic, feel free to come to me."
Ah, not just a one-time character, Tami shrugged.
Next, the Dark Princess demonstrated the magic she could impart in front of everyone.
Surprisingly, all these magic spells were based on the use of light.
From the weapon- and body-concealing "Invisible Weapon" and "Invisible Body," to "Light Shine" that illuminates the path ahead, "Mimicry" that distorts light for transformation effects, and "Repair," which Maru couldn’t understand but emitted light when cast, akin to the effect of Repair Light Powder.
"They’re all supportive magic."
Maru, without much thought, crushed some souls, combined with her gains from killing the Hydra, to learn all the magic—essentially printing them onto her mind through the magic book pages.
The intelligence requirements for these spells were quite average, allowing her to use them without obstacles, even with her strength-and-agility-focused attributes.
"It’s a bit unfortunate that there’s no offensive magic," the Skyrim Strategy Group magician said regretfully but still picked through and learned the magic honestly.
Why sift through them? Because a few of these spells could be learned in the classrooms of the Magic Academy Rea Lucaria, with many having already learned them.
While everyone was engrossed in learning, Maru was already practicing these Ulashiro spells with her Magic Wand, aiming to internalize them soon, as she hadn’t learned any Ulashiro magic before.
However, the more she practiced, the stranger her expression became.
"Aren’t we supposed to use the emitted light to illuminate the surroundings? Why can’t I replicate it with Holy Light Magic?"
While using "Light Shine," Maru found she couldn’t replicate it with Holy Light Magic or any other light magic. This spell gave her a peculiar feeling, as if... the emitted light wasn’t the pure light she knew?
This anomaly urged her to examine the description of Light Shine.
[Magic: Light Shine]
[An ancient spell from the now-destroyed Ulashiro Kingdom, capable of emitting light to illuminate its surroundings]
[Though it’s merely a light-emitting spell, it’s precisely part of Ulashiro’s mystery, which even Bieheim hasn’t managed to replicate until now]
Oh, even Obeck Teacher’s alma mater couldn’t replicate it, so never mind.
Upon seeing this message, Maru instantly relaxed.
Since neither other light magic spells nor Holy Light Magic could recreate Light Shine, she’d simply have to use it as is in the future. After all, emitting light wasn’t an irreplaceable skill.
Moreover, except for "Repair", there were alternative solutions for all the magic taught by the Dark Princess.
Maru used Repair on her slightly damaged Mercenary Dual Blades. As a flash of light occurred, she felt a fragment of her magic within being instantly depleted, leaving her feeling weak while the blade’s damages magically reversed as if time had flowed backward.
"Amazing!"
At that moment, Tami suddenly approached her.
"What’s up?" She glanced up at him.
"Do you think she’s just a magic teacher?" Tami pointed to the Dark Princess behind him and squatted down to say, "Shouldn’t I be the only one with an impression of Ulashiro?"
"Of course not, I’ve been there before. That painting world was quite popular back then."
They were referring to the Painting World "Wolf Knight", an experience where people could return to the past in Urasil Castle to face Artorias, whose mind had been corroded by the Abyss.
Artorias was among the most popular characters in the Sain Dungeon back then, widely known for this painting world.
"You think her sudden appearance here might give us a chance to visit Ulashiro?" Tami proposed an intriguing point worth considering.
"Why not try showing her that painting world?" Maru appropriately broadened her thinking.
By this time, everyone had finished learning magic from the Dark Princess. Maru and Tami exchanged a glance and got up to approach her, hoping to get more information.
But before they could speak, the Dark Princess herself said:
"It’s delightful to converse with you."
"My hometown Ulashiro had already been destroyed during my era. Ultimately, I’m alone, so being summoned by you and having these conversations brings me great satisfaction and joy."
Tami timely expressed sympathy and stepped closer to say, "Could you tell us what happened in Ulashiro?"
"Ulashiro...."
The Dark Princess showed a sorrowful expression but eventually spoke:
"Long ago, my hometown Ulashiro was attacked by Abyss Monsters, quickly turning into a purgatory."
"At that time, a famous knight—Sir Artorias—saved me. It was embarrassing because I was almost unconscious and unable to recall the entire process."
As expected, Artorias saved many people in Ulashiro.
Listening to her story, Tami suddenly asked, "Why were you attacked by the Abyss?"
"I don’t know..."
The Dark Princess shook her head, looking bewildered.
"I was already unconscious then, but, however, during the attack, I vaguely remembered feeling a strong nostalgic emotion from the Abyss Monsters, like they were yearning for something irretrievable or wanting to commemorate happy memories."
"Could that be the emotional experience of the Abyss Monsters? If they possessed such feelings, should we still refer to them as monsters...."
She shook her head again, "Sorry for speaking nonsense, please forget it."
The words of the Dark Princess indeed made people confused.
We finally encountered a living fossil, but she lost her memory and knew nothing about the Abyss, how....
Then, the Dark Princess carefully added:
"What I remember is that during Sir Artorias’s rescue..., should I say it’s the aura or something, really similar to yours."
"Hmm?" People looked at her in confusion, only to see her perplexed expression as she continued:
"Could it have been you back then? No, it shouldn’t be you, that was several hundred years ago in Ulashiro... Just treat it as my rambling, please forget about it."
What does she mean, how could Artorias have had a similar aura to us?
If she said this to Dal and the others with Wolf Blood, it might make some sense, but nobody here has Wolf Blood, nor are they related to the Fran Guard or Artorias, so how could there be a connection?
Before people could ask their questions, the body of the Dark Princess started to fade and become transparent.
"The time is up," she regretfully said, "If needed, please summon me again. I hope to assist you."
"Wait—"
Her body disappeared without a trace, as if she never existed.
"What the heck..."
Tami furrowed his brow, his intuition telling him that there must be important information hidden in the Dark Princess’s words, but lacking intelligence, he couldn’t deduce what it was.
Alright, since the summoning symbol is on the ground, I’ll just summon her again.
"I’m going to summon her again."
He said as he bent down.
Yet, this sentence received no response.
He curiously lifted his head, only to find himself alone.
"Where is everyone!?"
He spun around in shock.
A shadowy black void suddenly appeared behind him. This thing resembled...
Abyss!
