White Dragon Lord
Chapter 398: Did the White Dragon Lord Overplay His Hand?!
The best way to conceal his true strategic objective was to stick to the original plan, keeping the titans too busy with the chase to consider anything else. The White Dragon Lord selected a titan city and piloted the White Tower toward his target.
Upon arriving near the titan city, the White Dragon Lord halted the White Tower, keeping its invisibility magic array active, and waited for the titan floating tower to arrive.
"Everyone! This time, we will destroy their city right in front of them! We'll tear down their homes and prove through our actions that they are powerless to stop us!"
"Great idea! That'll piss those damn titans off!"
Once the dragons quieted down, the White Dragon Lord began assigning tasks.
"The ordinary members don't need to leave the tower this time. Flame of the Molten Mountain, King of the Thunder Prison, Black King... I want the twenty of you to destroy this city within a minute of the titans' arrival!"
"Leave it to us!"
"We won't even need a minute. Thirty seconds is enough!"
"..."
The White Dragon Lord continued delegating tasks, stationing personnel across the White Tower's various fire points to battle the titan floating tower.Shortly after the White Dragon Lord finished assigning tasks, the titan floating tower entered the White Tower's alert range once again.
"Warning! Unknown high-energy object approaching! Speed reaching one thousand meters per second! Estimated to intercept the White Tower in one minute and twenty seconds!"
"Move out!"
As the dragons tasked with destroying the city flew out, the White Dragon Lord piloted the White Tower toward the approaching titan floating tower. The two structures sped toward each other, closing the distance rapidly.
The White Dragon Lord activated the White Tower's trump cards.
Moon's Protection!
The Metamagic Railgun began to charge!
Soul-Linking Chain!
The Soul-Linking Chain connected the many High-Tier Legendary Dragons remaining inside with the White Tower, allowing the White Dragon Lord to instantly transmit commands and tactical judgments to them.
Incantations rapidly tumbled from the dragons' mouths, sending terrifying ripples of elemental energy spreading into the surroundings.
Moments later, both sides entered each other's magical attack range. One legendary magic spell after another took shape and hurtled toward the enemy.
Flaming meteors! A chill that froze all matter! Tornadoes that carved deep ravines across the earth! Lightning that tore the sky asunder...
Doomsday descended upon the skies above the once-tranquil mountain forest. Massive trees were upended by gales, and lightning shattered the crags, triggering widespread landslides. Terrifying, high-temperature flames reduced everything they touched to ash. A freezing chill erupted, coating the deeply scarred earth in a layer of silver frost. Before the frost could even spread, a meteor dragging a long tail of fire plummeted from the sky. Accompanied by an earth-shattering boom, a blazing crater was gouged into the landscape.
Caught in the shockwaves of colliding legendary magic, the clouds were swept completely away, and the terrain below was utterly reshaped. Towering mountains were leveled into deep valleys, and lush forests were turned into barren wastelands where not a single blade of grass survived. From time to time, these scorched lands were buried under fresh layers of frost.
Missing twenty of their most capable fighters, the dragons in the White Tower still found themselves at a disadvantage, even with the tower's terrifying enhancement capabilities.
However, this was all part of the White Dragon Lord's plan. His long-prepared spell was finally complete.
Forbidden Spell—Throat of the Abyss!
An all-devouring black hole pushed forward, swallowing the air and magical energy in its path. Even fully formed legendary magic was devoured, spell by spell.
Yet, even a forbidden spell could not withstand such an overwhelming barrage of legendary magic. After traveling nearly a thousand meters, the Throat of the Abyss reached its limit and showed signs of collapse.
Looking at the lightning-like fissures spiderwebbing across the edges of the endlessly rotating black hole, the dragons sighed internally: this was absolutely the fastest they had ever seen a Throat of the Abyss reach its limit.
Before the Throat of the Abyss exploded, the White Dragon Lord piloted the White Tower in a rapid retreat toward the dragons attacking the city. Piloting the Mother of Lightning Floating Tower, Power of Dark Erosion had no choice but to retreat as well; no one dared face the explosive might of a forbidden spell head-on.
A boom louder than a crashing meteor rang out. In the distance, the dragons who had just destroyed the titan city looked back toward the blast. Terrifying energy particles shot out in all directions, piercing and destroying everything in their path. Even subterranean creatures hiding deep underground could not escape death.
Despite being far away, the dragons were still affected. They hurriedly cast magical shields over themselves and took to the sky to meet the incoming White Tower.
The explosive energy particles battered the White Tower's Moon's Protection, emitting a dense, crackling sizzle, but causing no real harm. A forbidden spell-tier magical shield was more than enough to withstand the aftershocks of the Throat of the Abyss.
The dragons were astounded by the White Dragon Lord using the explosion of the Throat of the Abyss to block their enemies.
"What a brilliant lunatic!"
Once the dragons boarded, the White Dragon Lord piloted the White Tower over the horizon, vanishing from sight once more.
When the dust settled, Power of Dark Erosion brought the floating tower to the skies above the destroyed city. Gazing down at the ruins and giant corpses filling the city, the titans' expressions turned exceedingly ugly.
To the titans, giants held a status similar to pet dogs. But the dragons' objective was never just to kill giants—they were ruthlessly slapping the titans right across the face.
"Dammit!"
Watching Power of Dark Erosion look ready to crush the floating tower's Control Core in their grip, the Mother of Lightning felt as if her own heart was the core being squeezed.
Fortunately, Power of Dark Erosion did not lose all reason and released the floating tower's Control Core.
"Sindona! Take this back!"
The Thunder Titan, Sindona, Mother of Lightning, simply couldn't believe her ears. Ever since Power of Dark Erosion arrived in the Sincaro Titan World, they had usurped control of the floating tower in the name of the greater good.
The Mother of Lightning hadn't objected, however. After all, Power of Dark Erosion was indeed the most suitable candidate to pilot the floating tower.
"Take it back? High Priest?! This..."
"Don't overthink it! Sigh..."
Power of Dark Erosion let out a rather helpless sigh.
"With this floating tower of yours, we will never catch up to the dragons."
The Mother of Lightning and the other titans found that hard to swallow, but they had to admit Power of Dark Erosion was right.
"I am going to visit an old friend. Do not make any reckless moves. Wait for me..."
Elsewhere, the White Dragon Lord was surprised to find that the titans hadn't chased after them.
'Did I overplay my hand? Were the titans hit so hard that they gave up?!'
The White Dragon Lord's original intent was to provoke the titans by destroying the city, making them chase the White Tower like rabid dogs. Instead...
"Everyone, it seems there's been an unexpected development."
The White Dragon Lord looked at the other dragons. Because they were waiting for Breath of Extinction to handle the aftermath, the Black King was still inside the White Tower, so the White Dragon Lord didn't worry about exposing his intent to seize the Heart of the Plane.
"To be honest, I'm a little worried right now. What if the titans abandon this plane and pluck the Heart of the Plane themselves?"
Black King: "Hmm... why don't we go back and take a look?"
The White Dragon Lord piloted the cloaked White Tower back the way they had come. He discovered the titan floating tower resting beside the ruined city. Halting the White Tower a hundred thousand meters away high in the sky, he observed the titans' movements.
Most of the titans remained inside the tower, but a few were outside venting their emotions. Some smashed their fists into the earth, while others dueled in pairs...
The dragons watched the show unfold.
Flame of the Molten Mountain: "Tsk, tsk. Hitting with such force... looks like these titans are really furious, treating their own comrades like enemies."
Most of the dragons were just enjoying the spectacle. Only a small minority, the White Dragon Lord included, were pondering what was really going on.
Ancient Gold Dragon: "Have the titans truly given up?"
Matron of Venom: "Why don't we rush in and catch the titans off guard?"
Crimson Flame Streamer: "Our strength is nearly identical to the titans'. Even if we seize the initiative, it won't affect the battle's outcome much. Let's wait and see."
The White Dragon Lord decided to listen to Crimson Flame Streamer's advice and observe for a while.
After waiting for several hours, even the White Dragon Lord began to feel a bit bored.
Suddenly, as if receiving an order, the titans outside immediately scrambled toward the floating tower. Soon after, the Mother of Lightning's floating tower lifted into the sky. The crystal atop it began to charge, and magical shields appeared. It was a complete posture for war, and the dragons instantly perked up.
King of the Thunder Prison: "Have they discovered us?"
"Impossible!"
The White Dragon Lord continued his analysis: "Our position is at least a hundred thousand meters away from the titan floating tower. The White Tower's alert range is only eighty thousand meters. There's no way the titan floating tower's alert range is wider than the White Tower's."
Crimson Flame Streamer carefully observed the distant titan floating tower.
"Amos is right. Besides, it doesn't look like it's preparing for battle; it looks more like a guarding sentry."
Prompted by Crimson Flame Streamer's words, the other dragons noticed it too.
"Then what are the titans guarding?"
"Keep watching and we'll find out."
The dragons continued to observe.
The White Dragon Lord wasn't kept waiting for long. A familiar black hole appeared beside the titan floating tower, and the base of a massive floating tower slowly emerged from within it.
"Good lord! They actually called for reinforcements again!"
The White Dragon Lord's thoughts raced like lightning as he calculated the probability of a successful strike on the descending titan floating tower.
After all, a floating tower mid-descent was at its most vulnerable. All they had to do was disrupt the teleportation black hole's operational rhythm, and they could use spatial power to sever the floating tower in half.
And disrupting that teleportation rhythm only required a single High-Tier magic spell.
However, the floating tower's descent would take a mere thirty seconds. For the White Dragon Lord to cross a distance of a hundred thousand meters in such a short time and breach the Mother of Lightning's guard, the difficulty was exceptionally high.
The White Dragon Lord took 0.01 seconds to calculate that the chance of successfully interrupting the teleportation rhythm was only one in ten.
"Even if we fail, there's nothing to lose! Let's risk it! Everyone, prepare your magic!"
The White Dragon Lord deactivated the White Tower's invisibility magic array and drove the tower into an all-out sprint toward the teleportation point. In this extreme sprint state, the White Tower could fly at four thousand meters per second. Legendary magic had a range of over thirty thousand meters. Factoring in the Mother of Lightning Floating Tower's interception, the dragons would only have one chance to strike.
Because all of the White Tower's energy was diverted to boosting speed, the White Dragon Lord couldn't even activate Moon's Protection.
The White Dragon Lord stared tensely at the titan floating tower. This was a massive gamble; it was all about the adrenaline, all about the thrill.
Little did he know, the titans inside the floating tower were experiencing an even greater shock. It was a good thing titans didn't suffer from heart attacks.
"Ancestor of Titans above?! When did these dragons get here?!"
"Stop them!!!"
The Mother of Lightning was severely startled but quickly regained her wits. If the floating tower that Power of Dark Erosion had borrowed had its teleportation interrupted by the dragons, she didn't even dare imagine Power of Dark Erosion's furious expression. The Mother of Lightning drove her floating tower into a head-on charge against the White Tower.
The two floating towers flew straight at one another, the distance between them closing at a blistering pace, although the White Tower's speed was several times faster than its opponent's.
They finally breached the dragons' extreme attack range. The legendary magic the dragons had spent twenty seconds preparing was unleashed all at once. Because their goal was to disrupt the teleportation, the spells they chose weren't the most destructive, but rather those that boasted extreme speed or peerless concealment.
Arrow of Reverse Flow!
The semi-transparent, giant ice-crystal arrow tore through the air, drawing out a chain of sonic booms as it streaked across the sky toward the floating tower.
Leap of Glazed Wind!
A beam of azure magical energy flew forward like a serpent, traveling in a winding 'S' pattern but moving at an incredible velocity as it blasted toward its target.
Arkham's Shadow Assault Light!
A colorless, transparent wave of magical energy, soundless and untraceable yet blindingly fast...
On the titans' side, they largely deployed defensive magic.
Shield of Magma!
A blazing shield of magma materialized out of nowhere, blocking the path of the Ice Arrow. The Ice Arrow smashed against it and fractured inch by inch. The magma shield was similarly ravaged by the icy energy within the arrow; its roaring flames were abruptly extinguished. Cooling into something resembling obsidian, the shield immediately crumbled and shattered.
Counterspell: Legendary!
A transparent beam of magical light struck the azure magical energy, destroying the internal magical structure of the Leap of Glazed Wind. Both dissipated into the air.
Power of Lightning Retribution!
The crystal atop the titan floating tower shot out bolts of lightning, prematurely detonating the incoming spells in mid-air.
The White Dragon Lord watched the titans intercept their magic one by one. It really was too much of a stretch, he thought, and the urge to retreat crept into his mind.
By this point, the White Tower no longer needed to sprint at full force. The White Dragon Lord activated Moon's Protection, blocking several incoming attack spells, and forcefully banked the White Tower to flee.
Time to slip away! Run!
The Matron of Venom spotted Crimson Flame Streamer, who was still maintaining a channeling posture.
"Huh?! Lord Crimson Flame Streamer! Why are you..."
Prompted by the Matron of Venom, the White Dragon Lord also noticed Crimson Flame Streamer's odd behavior and quickly halted the White Tower's accelerated retreat.
The White Dragon Lord looked out across the chaotic battlefield. As if sharing a telepathic connection, his eyes instantly locked onto a single, incredibly well-hidden trace of magical energy amidst the turbulent elemental chaos of the titan defense line.
The energy intensity of this magical energy wasn't high—it was only at the level of High-Tier magic—but it was supremely stealthy and, from the looks of it, could be remotely controlled.
Under Crimson Flame Streamer's manipulation, this magical energy acted like a venomous snake slithering through the grass. It slipped past one defensive spell after another, covertly closing in on the titan floating tower.
Because the intensity of this cluster of magical energy was completely unremarkable amidst a barrage of legendary magic, the titans failed to notice it at all.
Finally, the magical energy bypassed the titans' defensive lines. Like a viper delivering its fatal strike, the magical energy controlled by Crimson Flame Streamer bared its fangs. Casting aside all concealment, it hurtled at full speed toward the teleportation black hole surrounding the mostly emerged floating tower.
The Mother of Lightning's face turned ashen, and the hearts of all the dragons leapt into their throats.
