Chapter 1546: Chapter 1546: Doctor, Did She Really Mess Up Her Brain?

After taking the car to the hospital, Dr. Meng found the ward where Eva Nightingale was staying.

It was already evening. In the room, only Lucas Knight and Eva Nightingale were left; Carla Carr had already gone back, because Eva Nightingale had said she wanted him to sleep with her tonight.

"Mr. President, I’m here."

Dr. Meng knocked on the door with a stern, scrutinizing look, then walked in and greeted Eva Nightingale: "Young Madam."

"Here’s the thing, Young Madam, I’ll run some tests for you to see how bad the head injury is..."

"Mm." Eva Nightingale nodded.

Lucas Knight, at the side, didn’t say anything.

Dr. Meng examined her for a while, then left.

Eva Nightingale didn’t know the results and didn’t ask. It was late at night and she was a little sleepy, but Lucas Knight still wouldn’t get in bed, sitting on the sofa nearby.

This was a VIP room—the bed was huge, equipped with a sofa, television, and a whole set of luxury amenities.

"Honey!" She got out of bed. "You’re not sleepy yet?"

Her subconscious seemed to be saying: I’m sleepy, I want you to sleep with me.

Lucas Knight lifted his head, serious yet aching for her: "Baby, if you’re sleepy, come into my arms, I’ll hold you to sleep."

What an outstanding man he was!

How could he not understand the little woman’s thoughts!

"Be good." His burning big hand had already pulled Eva Nightingale over, settling her into his embrace. Eva Nightingale didn’t refuse; instead, she obediently buried her small face against his chest, feeling his searing warmth, breathing in his unique scent.

"Good night, my woman~"

Listening to his voice, Eva Nightingale fell soundly asleep in his arms. This was so nice, so very nice.

Long ago, he had been just like this!

All through the night, Lucas Knight’s unique scent wrapped around her, and she slept straight till dawn.

*

At dawn, Lucas Knight put her back onto the bed and went to the director’s office.

Right now, Dr. Meng was waiting inside the director’s office.

Seeing Lucas Knight come in, he politely greeted him, then went straight to the point: "Crown Prince, Young Madam’s head is injured. She must be hospitalized for a period of quiet recuperation, and during this time she can’t be subjected to any shocks or stress..."

At that, his words were cut off by Lucas Knight: "Doctor, what I want to know is whether she... has actually damaged her brain or not."

He asked the question very directly!

Dressed in black, he stood right in front of the desk, his build and aura towering, giving off a powerful sense of pressure.

"Doctor, tell me the truth."

He kept feeling that Eva Nightingale seemed different.

She’d become very "fond" of him, even wanting him to hold her to sleep, to coax her!

It was obviously a good thing, and yet it made him uneasy: "Doctor, I don’t want you to lie to me."

"Crown Prince... this..." Dr. Meng froze for a moment, then answered, "Young Madam should not have damaged her brain!"

"Should?" The man’s brows knit slightly.

"Logically speaking, there’s been no brain damage; but there’s still a blood clot in her brain, so right now it’s truly uncertain whether it will... however, you don’t need to worry too much." Dr. Meng said, "For the moment, it appears Young Madam has not injured her brain, and the likelihood of problems later is almost zero."

Lucas Knight looked at the doctor but didn’t speak.

He lit a cigarette, held it between his lips, and walked over to the hospital’s floor-to-ceiling window.

...

Eva Nightingale woke up. She opened her eyes; her head hurt a little.

She groped around under the covers twice but didn’t touch the familiar male chest. Only then did she realize she’d slept alone?

She turned her head and looked to the side—there really was no one!
