Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Going After Rowan Rhodes

[District 122: (95837/100000)]

"Wow, Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries just suddenly popped up in the Trading Hall. The boss must have put them up, right?"

"It really feels like the mysterious boss is Rowan Rhodes, confirmed! Who else would have this kind of capability but her!"

"Yeah! Both the Engine and Steering Wheel require blueprints, and I have no idea where to even find them!"

"So Boss Rowan is basically playing with her cards face up now."

"No, knowing how the boss operates, as long as she doesn’t admit it, she’s not the one. That is, as long as she doesn’t come forward."

"I just wonder, how does the boss manage to hold back from speaking in the World Channel?"

"Exactly. I feel like if we didn’t have the World Channel, it’d be unbearable."

"That’s why Rowan is absolutely ruthless! She can even endure that."

"Actually, it’s not a matter of holding back or not. With the achievements the boss has made so far, she must be super busy. The kind where she doesn’t even have time to look at the World Channel."

"She definitely looks at the World Channel, but it’s true she has no interest in posting in it."

"I just hope the boss trades more Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries. I want to unlock the Engine too!"

"I hope I can fish up a seed; it’s much easier to trade with seeds."

"What does the boss want with so many seeds?"

"For planting, obviously!"

"Ah, I snatched one! I need to use it right away. I hope I can reach the island soon."

"With resources being so abundant right now, it’s better to head to the island later!"

"Just don’t run into a natural disaster when you land on the island. By then, not only would you have to deal with the disaster, but also other players with hidden agendas!"

"We could make a gentleman’s agreement not to attack each other on the island."

"A gentleman’s agreement? You’re joking. Who would dare take that risk?"

"Exactly! But let’s skip the island anyway! Feels like there aren’t many resources left there."

"I’ve just been waiting for today’s harvest day!"

"..."

The players of District 122 discussed enthusiastically.

Naturally, they wanted the Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries that Rowan Rhodes had listed. However, for them right now, the most important thing was to gather enough resources. The players wholeheartedly focused on scavenging the sea. Still, a few individuals immediately went ahead with upgrading and modifying their rafts, and Zelda Parrish was one of them.

She truly wasn’t lacking in resources at the moment, and she was confident she could trade for more from others later. Therefore, as for the resources in the sea, what truly tempted her were blueprints and seeds; she cared much less about everything else.

Fortunately, she had indeed managed to fish up several seeds.

The moment the seeds appeared, she understood that this was a massive welfare giveaway from the Sea Survival Game. As for why it was different from the last time, she had a theory. It was likely because the appearance of the Sea Survival Shop had benefited players across all districts, leading to an increase in the number of surviving players. This was the Sea Survival Game’s reward for that. As for whether this theory was true, she would know once the results of the upcoming natural disaster were out.

Until then, she would continue to follow Boss Rowan’s footsteps, ensuring the survival rate of the District 122 players, putting up as many goods as possible in the Sea Survival Shop, and providing hints to players in other districts.

Looking at today’s harvest day, she genuinely felt that Rowan possessed incredible foresight. After all, from the very beginning, Rowan had been helping the players of District 122. She was truly much more capable than Zelda was.

She actually felt quite good about the current situation. With a kind-hearted leader in their district, she was perfectly willing to follow Rowan’s lead for now. At least so far, everything they had encountered had been good.

With this in mind, Zelda directly unlocked the Engine. At this point, the only Equipment she had left to unlock was the Fish Spear Gun.

The Fish Spear Gun required an oxygen bottle. Rowan was probably the only one who had an oxygen bottle.

Zelda knew that there would definitely be players who, in their rush to upgrade their rafts, would advance early without unlocking all their Equipment. She could have done the same, but she was confident she could fully equip herself, so she hadn’t rushed the upgrade.

Thinking of this, Zelda listed the soybean seed she had just obtained in the Trading Hall, specifically requesting to trade it for an oxygen bottle. She had a premonition that Rowan would trade with her.

Rowan had already opened up the sales of resources like Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries. This meant there was a high probability she would sell oxygen bottles, too. Moreover, this soybean seed inherently held a certain value. She had just tried putting it up in the Sea Survival Shop, and the system’s defined price was higher than that of other seeds.

[Soybean Seed x1 — Trade for: oxygen bottle x1]

Almost the instant it was listed, the trade was completed.

Zelda knew it was Rowan who had made the trade.

In a great mood, she unlocked her remaining Equipment, upgraded all her gear, and finally advanced to a Level 7 Raft. The moment she advanced, her ranking instantly skyrocketed, directly surpassing many other Level 7 Rafts. This alone was enough to prove the true value and power of Zelda’s Level 7 Raft.

After checking the leaderboard information, Zelda withdrew her gaze in satisfaction. She then started the Engine, increasing the raft’s Speed.

She hoped to check out the third island within the day.

Again, she trusted Rowan. Since Rowan was vigorously collecting ores, it proved that ores would be extremely useful in the future.

Just as Zelda was thinking this, she suddenly saw an additional island appear on the Map. Her eyes lit up as she looked at it.

It had finally appeared.

In the next moment, Zelda’s raft sped swiftly toward the third island.

At the same time, quite a few others were doing exactly what Zelda was doing. For instance, Owen Caldwell and Faye Sinclair.

They were not lacking in resources either, and they also wanted to try exploring the island early. Most importantly, they were quite curious about Rowan. They wanted to see if they could catch a glimpse of the legendary Boss Rowan when they arrived at the third island. She was the "lucky star" that had allowed them to survive!

However, there were also players who harbored different thoughts. Like Harold Thompson and Simon Quinn.

Harold had also managed to snatch an Engine, a Steering Wheel, and a battery from the Trading Hall. Right after getting them, he immediately unlocked the Equipment and set off toward the third island without a second thought.

He, too, was heading there for Rowan. But he wasn’t doing it out of admiration. He intended to feel out Rowan’s true capabilities, and at the same time, see exactly how much of the third island’s foundation she had already excavated. He planned to stir up some serious trouble on the World Channel.

He felt his luck had been a bit rotten lately. He was clearly a top-ranking player and should have been a leading figure in District 122. But look at the results! First there was Celia Lynch, then came Zelda Parrish and the others. These people were annoying enough on their own, but he never expected there to be a hidden boss like Rowan Rhodes.

Not only did it cause his status to plummet rapidly, but every time he tried to show his face, he was met with disdain from others. Just thinking about it made him angry.

Simon Quinn shared similar thoughts. He purely wanted to see Rowan’s true face and see if he could cling to her coattails, hoping to ride her momentum to success. To achieve this goal, he had sacrificed quite a bit of resources in exchange for seeds!

And so, a group of District 122 players relentlessly rushed toward Glimmerstone Isle, rushing straight for Rowan Rhodes.
