While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft
Chapter 38: Store Operating Qualification Certificate, Obtained!
Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Store Operating Qualification Certificate, Obtained!
Throughout the voyage, Rowan Rhodes kept constantly adjusting the sail. Finally, after sailing for some time, the trace of Thesora appeared on the Map. At the same time, Rowan also spotted a small black dot in the distance, protruding slightly above the horizon. The raft moved forward at full Speed.
Soon, she saw the family of Seagulls waiting on the shore. Rowan quickly dropped the iron anchor. Once it was secured, she started building a Storage Box in advance. After finishing it, she sorted out her backpack, put on a sun hat and her Heat-resistant Suit set, then jumped off the boat and directly boarded the island.
The moment she disembarked, a scorching breath of air rushed against her face. It seemed that as long as they were in extremely hot weather, the players’ conditions would still be affected by the temperature. Fortunately, she had brought plenty of extra mineral water.
Upon setting foot on the island, Rowan noticed that the system provided no notifications, nor were there any rewards. It seemed that truly only the first island landing would grant a notification and a reward. After glancing at her panel, Rowan shifted her gaze to Thesora. Unlike Pyralia, which was a small tropical island, Thesora looked more like an ordinary island. The location where she landed was a relatively flat reef area, and the path onto the island was a gentle slope. This undoubtedly proved one point: someone had lived here before.
Speaking of which, Rowan was quite curious about the traces of habitation on some islands. There were shops and various kinds of buildings. Yet, they had never seen a person, or rather, a Wisdom race on these islands. Where did they go after leaving the islands they once lived on? Why did they abandon them?
Pondering this, Rowan subconsciously gave a self-deprecating smile. "It’s just a system setting. Why am I overthinking it?" she thought.
Gathering her thoughts, Rowan climbed upward, casting her gaze toward the shop in the center of the island. The location of this shop was indeed conspicuous! It was positioned to ensure that every player who landed on the island could see it.
While climbing, Rowan was also paying attention to the surrounding environment. Trees, Grassland, Stones... hopping chickens, and sheep running all over the place... Later, she would go catch the chickens and sheep. After all, her pasture was now fully established. Chickens could lay eggs, and sheep could produce goat milk and even yield wool. Clothes made from wool had great warming Effects. The resources were truly abundant!
"Catch?" Noticing Rowan’s gaze, the Seagull hopped to her side and squawked.
"If you can catch them, then help me catch the chickens and sheep and put them on the raft! I’ll make you something delicious later," Rowan said. She hadn’t expected the Seagull to offer to help catch poultry. However, if they could do it, it would save her some effort.
Hearing this, the Seagull immediately squawked something to the four Seagulls behind it. Then, the five Seagulls spread their wings and darted straight toward the direction where the hens and sheep had appeared.
Rowan, on the other hand, continued climbing up to the shop at the top of the hill. The inside of the shop was incredibly messy. The shelves were completely empty; only a single machine was currently powered on. Therefore, the very first thing players would see was absolutely this machine. On the machine, a buying and selling list was directly displayed.
Rowan glanced at it and walked straight into the shop. After searching around the walls, she spotted the "Operating Qualification Certificate" appearing next to a pile of papers. She reached out and took it down.
[Congratulations to the player for obtaining the Shop Operating Qualification Certificate. Do you wish to use it?]
A window popped up on the system panel. The moment she saw it, Rowan’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be used directly?
"Yes." With a hint of curiosity, Rowan confirmed the choice.
Upon confirmation, a new section instantly appeared on the control panel in front of her.
[Shop: Unnamed]
[Owner: Rowan Rhodes (Can be anonymous)]
[Level: 0]
[Trading Coin: 0]
[Listed Items: 0]
[Listable Items: Basic Resources (16), Food & Beverages (51), Planting Seeds (11), Biological Drops (8), Weapons & Tools (8), Equipment & Armor (9), raft Equipment (23), Special & Rare (6)]
[Purchasing Items: 0]
[Invited Residents: 0]
[Target Customers: All Channels]
[Go Online?]
After browsing through each item, Rowan let out a long breath. As it turned out, the Operating Qualification Certificate directly granted players the qualification to open an online shop. Once the online shop went live, she could sell or buy items from all players in the Sea Survival Game. The online shop’s inventory was directly linked to the inventory on Rowan’s raft. As the owner, Rowan could even invite other players as permanent residents. This function was truly... too overpowered. What was the difference between this and a wandering merchant in a game? This trip was totally worth it!
However, Rowan wasn’t in a hurry to go online immediately. She planned to return to the raft and thoroughly study the functions first. As for now, gathering resources on Thesora took priority.
Rowan continued searching the shop to see if she had missed any resources. She verified everything she could find. The best way to verify was to put items into her backpack; if there was a reaction, it meant they were useful. After some testing and confirming there was nothing else of use, Rowan finally approached the machine.
The moment she touched the machine, a window popped up immediately. It displayed two options: Buy and Sell.
Selecting the sell list displayed the items in Rowan’s backpack. Once an item was selected, a detailed Introduction of its information would appear on the right side. Next to it, a "Sell" option would appear. Below that was the income from selling the resource.
For example, for Shark Meat, the reward was:
[Trading Coin x2, reputation x10]
As for Trading Coins and reputation, up until the time of Rowan’s death in her previous life, they only had any usable Effect when encountering a shop. Therefore, for most players, they were merely decorative. However, now that her own shop had these two metrics, Rowan felt that in the far future, these two might possess their own special Effects.
Rowan then chose to check the buy list. The buy list showed that the shop Level was Level 1, so it could only sell Level 1 items. This included the currently available basic resources, food, recipes, metals, and so on. Among the recipes, there were ordinary ones and special ones; the food cooked from special recipes would have special Effects. Clicking on them would display the item’s Introduction on the right, as well as the conditions required to purchase it.
For instance: Pineapple Juice, made in a juicer, could make the player’s swimming Speed faster. It required:
[Trash x20, Trading Coin x10]
By purchasing the recipe, one could make it even without the Cooking Skill.
When Rowan arrived here in her previous life, she didn’t have many resources on hand; by Nature, she couldn’t buy anything. But now, with her abundant resources, buying items she didn’t have might come in handy in the future.
Rowan clicked and sold the resources she owned. After acquiring Trading Coins, she turned back to make purchases. However, while she had enough Trading Coins, she didn’t have enough Trash. Rowan currently had 183 pieces of Trash, which was considered quite a small hoard. At the very least, Rowan hadn’t expected to buy so many things from this shop.
Since she didn’t have enough, she could only purchase it from others. The next moment, she opened the trading hall and specified trades for Trash. And as soon as she made this move, quite a few players took notice.
