While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft
Chapter 15: That Was Really Beautifully Done
Chapter 15: Chapter 15: That Was Really Beautifully Done
Rowan Rhodes had no idea about the storm brewing on Pyralia after her departure. Right now, she was busy organizing her harvest.
[Palm Leaves * 90, palm tree seeds * 45, Coconuts * 90, coconut seeds * 45, Mangos * 90, mango tree seeds * 45, Grassland * 30, Pasture Seeds * 18, Metal Ingots * 32, Watermelons * 6, Watermelon Seeds * 6, Stones * 10, sand * 20, Wooden Boards * 940.]
Rowan placed all the acquired resources into their corresponding Storage Boxes. Because there were simply too many Wooden Boards, she had to build Storage Box No. 8 specifically to hold them.
The moment she finished sorting, Rowan took out two Coconuts.
[Coconut: Can fully replenish Thirst Value. Has a cooling Effect.]
In her previous life, it wasn’t until much later that she realized certain resources had special Effects. She hadn’t expected to obtain them so quickly in this life, let alone enjoy them this early on.
Grabbing her Iron Axe, Rowan began hacking the Coconuts open. Once they were open, she placed one in front of the Seagull and drained the other in a single gulp. The moment the coconut water hit her stomach, a wave of absolute comfort washed over her entire body. Sometimes, a little indulgence was exactly the motivation one needed to keep pushing forward.
The Seagull beside her was equally delighted after drinking its coconut water. It waddled over to Rowan and affectionately rubbed its head against her, which was undoubtedly a sign of approval.
Seeing this, Rowan couldn’t help but pat the Seagull’s head. "You really bowed your proud head just for a bite to eat, huh? Don’t worry, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I won’t mistreat you."
From the moment the Seagull immediately warned her about the approaching people, she had considered it her partner. Animals gave her much more peace of mind than other players.
Having rested enough, Rowan prepared to get back to work. With all the delays, it was already approaching 4:00 AM, and dawn would break soon. Once the sun came up, the Speed at which the temperature rose would only accelerate. She needed to take advantage of this time to craft some sunshade Equipment.
She retrieved Metal Ingots and scrap iron from the Storage Box in her work area and tossed the scrap iron into the Workbench.
[Scrap iron can generate: Blueprint: Hammer...]
[F-level Iron Hammer: Used to craft metal structures, as well as build and dismantle Equipment. Requires Wooden Boards * 2, scrap iron * 10.]
Once the crafting was complete, Rowan took the Iron Hammer and started pounding away at the Metal Ingots. In the later stages of the game, a Furnace could be used to process Metal Ingots directly. Without one, she had no choice but to rely on manual labor with an Iron Hammer.
A moment later, the Metal Ingots were flattened into Metal Plates. She fed the Metal Plates into the Workbench, and the sunshade blueprint appeared.
[D-level Sunshade: Provides protection from sun and rain, mitigates negative Effects. Requires Wooden Boards * 5, Palm Leaves * 5, Metal Plates * 5, rope * 3.]
Thanks to the addition of the Metal Plates, the Level of the sunshade had leaped forward, and naturally, its Effects were much better.
After crafting it, Rowan placed the D-level Sunshade directly at the very front of the raft—the spot where she kept a lookout over the ocean, salvaged supplies, and fought off sharks. This was her most frequented area. The extended canopy perfectly shaded the table and chairs in her living area as well.
Rowan stood directly beneath the sunshade. As the sea breeze blew in, the stifling heat seemed to dissipate slightly. This D-level Sunshade was absolutely worth it! She had made a huge profit! Starting over in this life was full of surprises at every turn!
Afterward, Rowan hammered out a few more Metal Plates and placed them on her Wooden House. The moment she placed them, the Metal Plates seamlessly merged with the Wood Wall. With this, her little Wooden House now had an innate heat-resistance attribute.
Having finished all of this, Rowan couldn’t suppress a yawn. After all, she had basically been awake for a day and a night straight.
Glancing at the Seagull beside her, Rowan used Wooden Boards, broken cloth, and other materials to build a small nest. "Do you want to sleep outside or inside?" Rowan asked patiently.
Hearing this, the Seagull waddled over to a corner beneath the D-level Sunshade and gestured to her.
"Alright." Rowan placed the wooden nest in the Seagull’s designated spot.
The moment it was set down, the Seagull eagerly hopped in and settled into a comfortable position. Although the nest was rudimentary, the bird didn’t mind it at all; in fact, it seemed to love it.
As for Rowan, after eating a steamed bun and drinking some mineral water to top off her stats, she retreated into her Wooden House to sleep.
She slept dreamlessly through the night.
When Rowan woke up again, it was broad daylight. Stepping out of the Wooden House, she immediately spotted two sharks attacking her raft. Meanwhile, the Seagull was using its sharp claws to fend them off, looking incredibly agile.
In truth, Rowan had anticipated this before going to sleep last night. Shark attacks on the raft were a regular occurrence, but she had absolute confidence in her raft. However, she just hadn’t expected the Seagull to actively protect their home on its own. What a good bird!
Rowan grabbed her long spear and joined the fray, making quick work of the two sharks in no time. Before she could even pick up the Shark Meat that dropped from their bodies, the Seagull pointed at it and started squawking.
"You want to eat this?" Rowan asked, slightly surprised.
Come to think of it, she had never consumed any of the abundant Shark Meat she had on hand simply because it tasted terrible. Coupled with the fact that she had eaten way too much of it in her previous life, she practically had trauma from it! Yet the Seagull actually liked it?
Hearing her, the Seagull nodded.
[Eat.]
Rowan placed the Shark Meat directly in front of the Seagull. Having received permission, it swallowed the Shark Meat whole in a single gulp. Watching this, Rowan figured she would probably need to prepare a large bowl for her feathered companion. Its appetite was certainly nothing to scoff at.
Pondering this, Rowan sat down at the table and began preparing her own breakfast. She had unboxed so many different kinds of food yesterday, and she planned to try them one by one. The next moment, dumplings and milk appeared on the table.
Rowan ate as she opened the World Channel to browse the chat. The temperature had already climbed to 32 degrees, making the air quite muggy. She wondered if any of the players had realized that extreme weather was fast approaching. Aside from the weather, the main topic of discussion was the island harvests.
However, upon reading the actual contents of the chat, Rowan couldn’t help but freeze. While the World Channel was indeed discussing the islands, the specifics were rather unexpected.
"Celia Lynch: @Harold Thompson @Simon Quinn, I only just arrived at the island. There are other players around who can vouch for me, so don’t try to pin the blame on me."
"Yeah, yeah, we can vouch for Celia Lynch."
"I’m on Pyralia right now. I just traded with Celia Lynch."
"Celia Lynch: @Harold Thompson @Simon Quinn, don’t falsely accuse me next time."
"Harold Thompson: Well, if it wasn’t you, it was definitely some other Level 3 female player."
"Celia Lynch: Regardless of who she is, she gathered resources on the island relying on her own true abilities. What right do you have to condemn her?"
"Celia Lynch: If you really want to give other players a way to survive, why don’t you distribute the resources you gathered on the island to everyone else!"
"Celia Lynch: We arrived too late, and there are barely any resources left. Share some of yours with us."
"Exactly! I support this."
"I support this too."
"..."
Rowan stared at these messages and scrolled up to read the earlier chat logs. Finally, she confirmed one thing.
The player she saw right before leaving last night wasn’t Celia Lynch?
It seemed the players in this Sea Survival Game were truly full of hidden talents! She wondered who that player was.
Whoever it was... they had played it beautifully!
