Xiao Rou obediently went over, found a place to sit down and rest.

Although it wasn’t peak movie-watching time, the crowd wasn’t small. Seated next to Xiao Rou was a young couple, engaged in a non-stop argument about something.

"I want to watch this one."

The girl was acting coy, but the boy remained unmoved: "What’s good about this cartoon? It’s childish, let’s watch this Hollywood blockbuster instead."

"This one is Hollywood too, but I don’t like science fiction. Let’s watch this one."

Xiao Rou didn’t really want to hear their silly bickering, but since she was only one seat away from them, it was hard not to overhear.

Xiao Rou stared at her toes, pretending not to listen, but then heard the boy think for a moment and say, "How about we watch separately?"

"Separately? How can we do that? You promised to accompany me to the movies; let’s watch this one."

"I don’t want to; it’s childish. Either we watch separately or watch this."

"No, can’t you just accommodate me a little?"

"What’s accommodation got to do with it? This is boring."

"You... Other people’s boyfriends would indulge their girlfriends, why can’t you?"

The girl’s voice suddenly rose, drawing attention from many people nearby, including Xiao Rou. She was a bit stunned; in the blink of an eye, the two, who were just bickering playfully, started a real argument.

At this moment, the couple had already stood up. The girl looked aggrieved, while the boy wouldn’t back down. They began to argue openly in public.

Xiao Rou quickly stood up, intending to back away. Unexpectedly, just as she was preparing to retreat, the girl, seemingly upset, pushed the boy. The boy blocked with his hand and inadvertently pushed the girl backward with more force.

Before Xiao Rou could step back, the commotion sent them crashing into her.

The girl was quite slim, so the collision wasn’t painful. But she staggered and her high heels landed on Xiao Rou’s foot.

Unable to dodge, Xiao Rou felt a sharp pain instantly.

The girl was wearing thin-heeled sandals, and the heel landed precisely on Xiao Rou’s big toe. It might not have been injured, but the pain was real.

Xiao Rou jumped up immediately.

The next second, a force settled on her shoulder, pulling her backward slightly, and she collided into a solid embrace. A faint sea salt aroma wafted into her nose, the same scent as the cotton T-shirt she wore last night.

Xiao Rou looked up and, unsurprisingly, it was Zhou Qi.

The couple seemed to realize they had bumped into someone but didn’t apologize. Confronted by Zhou Qi’s furrowed, oppressive gaze, they suddenly stopped arguing and made a hasty exit.

Zhou Qi’s gaze was cold and intimidating, indeed quite unsettling.

Once Xiao Rou recovered from the shock, she felt slightly better. Suddenly, her shoulder was pressed down again, pushing her onto the seat. Zhou Qi placed the movie ticket in her lap, while he crouched down to inspect the foot that was stepped on.

Xiao Rou was wearing very ordinary flat shoes, which Zhou Qi had already removed.

"Don’t..."

Realizing what Zhou Qi was going to do, Xiao Rou hurriedly tried to stop him, but it was too late.

Zhou Qi held her ankle with one hand and had already removed her shoe with the other.

Soon he had taken off her sock and was carefully examining her toe, which was a little red but not injured.

Zhou Qi gently shook it with his hand: "Does this hurt?"
