When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1350: We’re Impossible
Back at the Zhou Family home, Xiao Rou is Zhou Chengchen’s close friend, and Xi Siyan is the soon-to-be son-in-law, so naturally, there’s no unfamiliarity.
However, being back home, in their little apartment, Zhou Chengchen and Xi Siyan wouldn’t feel too shy no matter how much they fool around, but it’s different here. In the end, Xi Siyan was sent to the guest room, while Xiao Rou and Zhou Chengchen, being close, naturally stayed together.
As night deepened, everyone returned to their rooms to shower. Zhou Qi brought a set of his own pajamas over to Xi Siyan.
Xi Siyan somehow got hold of two cans of beer, and looked like he was about to seek out Zhou Qi.
"Wow, you’re getting more and more at home here."
Xi Siyan chuckled, accepting the pajamas from Zhou Qi and handing him a can of beer.
"Want to chat?"
"Sure, what do you want to talk about?"
Xi Siyan’s guest room had a small balcony just right for the two of them. They opened their beers, took a sip, and Xi Siyan spoke up: "I plan to get married after Cheng Chen graduates."
Zhou Qi wasn’t surprised; it’s normal. Their relationship is so good, not getting married would be unreasonable.
"Congratulations."
"Thanks, I’ll take good care of her."
Xi Siyan wore a slight smile, his tone particularly serious, fixing his gaze on Zhou Qi with a meaningful look.
Zhou Qi glanced at him, shedding his usual carefree demeanor, and smiled: "You don’t have to specially tell me. As long as Cheng Chen has no objections, our family certainly doesn’t either. As for whether you’ll treat her well, my real concern is you—don’t let Cheng Chen bully you. When she gets bratty, even Mr. Zhou can’t handle it."
"She’s great."
"Alright, alright, don’t show off your love in front of me."
Zhou Qi began to tease again, fully understanding why Xi Siyan was being so earnest with him.
Though he and Zhou Chengchen disregard their age difference, he’s always treated Zhou Chengchen as his beloved little sister. Now that his sister is getting married, Zhou Qi doesn’t feel much better than a father giving away his daughter.
Though he’s never expressed it, Zhou Qi believes Xi Siyan can sense his reluctance, a feeling hard to describe.
It’s not that he distrusts Xi Siyan, nor is it about Zhou Chengchen marrying far away, but still there’s a sense of the precious flower they’ve nurtured being picked by someone else, even if it’s to be cherished.
But despite the reluctance, Zhou Chengchen has to get married, and Xi Siyan is the best choice.
So Zhou Qi quickly buried that feeling deep down.
Zhou Qi patted Xi Siyan’s shoulder: "Entrusting Cheng Chen to you, I’m very reassured."
"Thank you."
Xi Siyan also smiled. The two fell silent for a moment, then Xi Siyan spoke again: "She’s quite concerned about your affairs."
"My affairs?"
Xi Siyan wasted no time, directly dropping two words: "Xiao Rou."
Zhou Qi’s expression gradually darkened. After a while, he smiled again: "That’s all in the past."
Xi Siyan squinted, mercilessly exposing: "Do you believe that?"
"Whether I believe it or not, it’s like that now. It’s impossible for us."
"Why?"
Zhou Qi lowered his head slightly, saying nothing for a long while. He took a sip of beer and tugged at his lips: "This is the real reason you came to drink with me, isn’t it? That girl couldn’t get answers from me, so she sent you?"
