Chapter 55: Chapter 55: She Doesn’t Want the Scum Ex-Husband Anymore 15

A physician hurried over and carefully examined Ji Huadan, who was lying on the couch.

A moment later, the physician withdrew his Spiritual Power and reported to the Phoenix King, "Lady Xu is in good health. The recent collision only caused some barely detectable superficial injuries. Applying my personally-concocted Jade Skin Ointment will heal her in no time."

"Today, Fan Yin took action, so as her mother, I can’t just do nothing. Coincidentally, it’s been a long time since I visited Elder Xu’s home. My husband and I will escort my cousin home today."

Ji Xiaosong was determined to see just what trick Ji Huadan had up her sleeve.

The Phoenix King and several elders all released their Divine Sense to probe Ji Huadan, but none of them detected any Demonic Qi on her.

But Ji Xiaosong refused to believe Ji Huadan could hide it forever.

Recalling the earlier incident, Ji Huadan had only revealed the Demonic Qi—which Feng Fan Yin then discovered—because she had been provoked.

But the wisp of Demonic Qi had vanished just as quickly, which clearly meant she had a way to conceal it.

’I refuse to believe I won’t find anything if I follow Ji Huadan to her home.’

"There’s no need to trouble you, cousin. My husband will accompany me; I’ll get home safely."

Ji Huadan wanted nothing more than to slice Ji Xiaosong into a thousand pieces; she wanted nothing to do with her.

’Every time I confront Ji Xiaosong, I’m the one who loses out!’

’Besides, if they bring Feng Fan Yin along, with her sharp sensitivity to Demonic Qi, she’ll probably find the Demon Seed I’ve hidden.’

’I only let a tiny wisp of Demonic Qi slip out earlier, and I was discovered immediately.’

Ji Xiaosong paid her no mind, giving a look to the palace servant beside her. That servant and another immediately stepped forward and helped Ji Huadan up.

"Lady Xu, if you please."

Xu Yang wanted to stop them, but he suddenly realized he was completely powerless against the two Orange Phoenix Palace Attendants before him.

Horror gripped him, but he didn’t dare let it show.

In his past life, he had strangled the Eldest Princess, and the Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix had found out almost immediately.

Without asking for any explanation, the two of them had frozen him to death.

Phoenixes are not afraid of fire, but they are terrified of extreme cold.

It was a cold that seeped into his very bones, like countless ice blades slicing away at every inch of his skin, every fiber of his soul.

He had struggled in the extreme cold but couldn’t escape, able only to feel his life slipping away as his consciousness gradually faded.

Fortunately, he had been reborn.

But this new life was even worse than the last one.

’At least in my last life, I was the Eldest Princess’s husband. I had a steady supply of High-level Spirit Grass and Spiritual Medicine every month, and the clan members treated me with respect.’

The two palace servants hauled Ji Huadan up and started walking out, completely ignoring her resistance and leaving behind the bewildered crowd.

The others had wanted to ask what the deal with the Demonic Qi was, but the Phoenix King ended the celebratory banquet, telling them he would explain another day.

Feng Cangwu, holding Feng Fan Yin, arrived at the Xu Family estate with Ji Xiaosong. Just as they entered, they saw Mother Xu waiting to greet them with her servants.

"Greetings, Eldest Princess." Mother Xu bowed respectfully.

When she raised her head, she saw her son’s unfocused gaze and suddenly noticed that his true form had reverted to its original yellow color.

Mother Xu was shocked, but she knew this was not the time to ask questions.

"There is no need for such formalities, Lady Xu. I came today to escort my cousin home. She was agitated at the banquet, and we were worried it might affect the baby, so we brought her back ourselves." Ji Xiaosong’s gaze swept over Mother Xu, taking in her every expression.

"Thank you for your kindness, Eldest Princess, and husband. Now that Huadan is home, Yang’er and I will take care of her. There’s no need to trouble you both further. Please, return to your residence and rest."

"Lady Xu, my cousin was frightened by my daughter, after all. How could I, as her elder cousin, leave without being reassured? Besides, I’d also like to see if my cousin is living comfortably. If there’s anything amiss, I can arrange to have it rectified."

Mother Xu’s expression stiffened. Just as she was about to refuse again, Ji Xiaosong had already strode inside.

Ji Huadan, fuming and anxious, cried out, "Cousin, what is the meaning of this? I already told you not to concern yourselves!"

"Cousin, you’ve always had a spoiled temper. Now that you’re married, it’s not impossible that someone might mistreat you in secret because of it. If you insist on stopping me today, then I’ll have to suspect the Xu Family has something to hide."

After saying her piece, Ji Xiaosong completely ignored the protesting Mother Xu and the others, walking right in with Feng Cangwu and Feng Fan Yin.

’I may have never been to Ji Huadan’s bedroom, but Feng Fan Yin can sense Demonic Qi from a great distance.’

"Mama, there’s nasty Demonic Qi in two places here!"

At these words, the expressions of both Mother Xu and Ji Huadan changed instantly. Mother Xu’s eyes subconsciously darted to a corner before she quickly looked away and said, feigning composure, "Children say the silliest things. Where would any Demonic Qi come from?"

Ji Huadan, meanwhile, unconsciously clutched the hem of her clothes, her lips trembling slightly. Still, she forced herself to say, "My niece Fan Yin must be mistaken. This bedroom has always been very clean."

Ji Xiaosong keenly observed their subtle reactions and sneered. "Is that so? Then we’ll have to take a good look. If there really is Demonic Qi, we can’t just let it be."

A thin layer of sweat broke out on Mother Xu’s forehead. She gave a dry laugh and said, "Eldest Princess, there really isn’t any. You’re..."

Ji Huadan’s gaze darted about. Suddenly, a thought struck her. ’Two places? Why did Feng Fan Yin say two places?’

’I clearly only put the Demon Seed in my own bedroom!’

’So whose is the other one?’

Suddenly, she looked at Mother Xu.

Although Mother Xu appeared calm, her curled fingers betrayed her hidden nervousness.

’Heh!’

’So the Xu Family is just as tainted as I am!’

Feng Fan Yin led Ji Xiaosong and Feng Cangwu to Ji Huadan’s quarters first. Despite Ji Huadan’s repeated attempts to stop them, with Feng Cangwu present, it was all futile.

Xu Yang’s gaze remained distant, as if he had suffered some great blow, and he paid no attention to what was happening around him.

Following Feng Fan Yin’s directions, Ji Xiaosong quickly found a box inside Ji Huadan’s bedroom.

Just as she was about to open it, Feng Cangwu suddenly stopped her. "Wait."

"Why?" Ji Xiaosong asked, confused.

Feng Cangwu’s expression was grave. In a deep voice, he said, "This matter is of great importance. To ensure fairness and to let the entire clan know the truth, I will cast a spell to broadcast this scene to the whole Phoenix Clan."

With that, Feng Cangwu formed a hand seal. A brilliant golden light rose from his hands and rapidly expanded, forming a massive screen of light.

The members of the Phoenix Clan saw a flash of light, and then the scene from within Ji Huadan’s bedroom appeared before them.

Ji Huadan and Mother Xu’s faces instantly turned deathly pale. Xu Yang finally snapped out of his daze, his face filled with terror.

Feng Cangwu’s voice rang out, "Members of the Phoenix Clan, the events of today must be investigated thoroughly to restore the integrity of our clan!"

Ji Xiaosong took a deep breath and slowly opened the box in her hands.

"Don’t!"

Ji Huadan broke free from the two palace servants holding her and charged toward Ji Xiaosong.
