Chapter 45: Chapter 45: She Doesn’t Want the Scum Ex-Husband Anymore 5
The Jade Bed, bare just a moment ago, was instantly transformed with a wave of Feng Cangwu’s hand.
Soft cushions now adorned the bed, and a canopy had even been hung above it.
Before Ji Xiaosong even had time to think, Feng Cangwu swept her up into his arms.
"Today was a bit rushed. When we go to see your parents, I’ll prepare some more substantial gifts."
Before Ji Xiaosong could react, their two figures were already merging as one on the newly furnished Jade Bed.
They went from fumbling to masterful in just a few practice sessions.
...
For a full month, Ji Xiaosong hardly left the room.
Feng Cangwu had thrown himself into all sorts of novel explorations, never tiring of them.
Finally, when Ji Xiaosong could no longer stand being tossed and turned day and night, she braced her aching lower back and kicked Feng Cangwu right out of bed.
"I want to go home!"
Ji Xiaosong’s face was beet red, her slender brows furrowed in anger. Her beautiful eyes were wide and round as she glared, her cheeks puffed out indignantly.
Her voice was slightly hoarse, an obvious result of the past month’s exertions.
"Alright, alright. Song, let me go and prepare. We’ll set off to see the Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix tomorrow."
Feng Cangwu scrambled up from the floor with an eager-to-please smile. He rushed to Ji Xiaosong’s side and pulled her into his embrace.
If Ji Xiaosong hadn’t been with him day and night, just looking at the man before her now and thinking back to a month ago would have made her suspect he was a completely different person.
"Phoenix Splendor Hall has everything one could ever need, but I still want to bring them some rare treasures. After all, in my view, nothing shows sincerity more clearly than tangible benefits."
Feng Cangwu calmly began making arrangements, listing out the items he would bring for the Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix.
"You can decide. I’ve never even seen most of the things you plan on giving them, but from the uses you’ve described, they sound like things my father and mother can really put to good use."
Hearing Ji Xiaosong’s words, Feng Cangwu dotingly tapped her nose. "Of course," he said. "I’ll arrange everything perfectly. You won’t have to worry about a thing."
He then continued to ponder what other precious items he could bring along.
Ji Xiaosong nestled in his arms with her eyes gently closed, carefully sensing the faint wisp of life in her belly.
After a month of activity, Feng Fan Yin had finally taken root in her womb.
For high-level bloodlines, children were a rarity, and pregnancies usually resulted in only one child at a time.
During the gestation period, a developing fetus had an enormous demand for Spiritual Energy.
If the supply of Spiritual Energy failed to meet the fetus’s needs, it could very well lead to the child being born with a weak constitution, planting a seed of trouble for their future development.
Perhaps it was the drain of nurturing a new life, but Ji Xiaosong felt utterly exhausted. Within moments, she had drifted into a deep sleep.
After carefully arranging the items in his pocket dimension, Feng Cangwu returned. He looked over and saw Ji Xiaosong sleeping soundly on the Jade Bed. The sight was like a painting of a sleeping beauty—peaceful, gentle, and serene. He couldn’t bear the thought of disturbing her.
He watched her quietly, his gaze full of adoration and deep affection as it traveled from her ink-black hair, to her lightly fluttering eyelashes, and then to her rosy cheeks.
Feng Cangwu’s expression softened further. As if afraid of disturbing the room’s tranquility, he sat down gently on the edge of the bed. His long, slender fingers carefully brushed a stray lock of hair from Ji Xiaosong’s forehead.
As he drew near, he keenly sensed a faint, almost imperceptible fluctuation of Spiritual Power. The ripple was so weak that had he not been so powerful and utterly focused, he would have surely overlooked it.
Feng Cangwu immediately held his breath, reining in his own aura as he slowly released his Spiritual Power, cautiously extending it toward Ji Xiaosong’s abdomen.
Under the gentle touch of his Spiritual Power, the fluctuation gradually grew more distinct. It was still frail, but it pulsed with tenacity.
A flash of indescribable shock and elation lit up Feng Cangwu’s eyes. His hand trembled involuntarily as he slowly reached out, hovering over Ji Xiaosong’s abdomen, not daring to make contact for fear of startling the fragile new life within.
In that instant, time seemed to stand still.
After a long moment, Feng Cangwu finally snapped out of his daze, a tender smile gracing his lips.
He was going to be a father.
He was going to be a father!
He finally had a child of his own!
The more powerful the members of the Phoenix Clan, the more difficult it was for them to conceive. Yet he had only been with Ji Xiaosong for a month, and they already had a child of their own blood!
Brimming with excitement, Feng Cangwu began rummaging through his pocket dimension. ’I have a child now,’ he thought. ’I must prepare more items rich in Spiritual Energy for Ji Xiaosong, to make sure her pregnancy isn’t too difficult.’
And so, when Ji Xiaosong awoke, she was greeted by the sight of the entire room piled high with all kinds of rare and wondrous treasures. The Spiritual Energy was so dense it was nearly tangible.
Even for her, the most gifted Eldest Princess of her clan, she had never seen so many precious artifacts.
"This... Why did you take out so many things?"
"You’re pregnant now, so you’ll need a great deal of Spiritual Energy. I’ve selected some things you’ll find useful. Right, I also prepared ten Top-grade Spirit Ore Veins for you. They should be enough to allow your pocket dimension to continuously generate Spiritual Energy. Barring any surprises, you shouldn’t have to worry about running out of Spirit Stones ever again."
Th-this...
’I knew Feng Cangwu was generous, but I never imagined he could be *this* generous!’
For the past month, he had found new ways to give her gifts every single day. She was finally experiencing firsthand what it meant to receive so many gifts you could barely hold them all.
"Well, in that case, I won’t hold back."
This was just how Ji Xiaosong was. They had already formed a Contract, which made them husband and wife.
If he was willing to give, then she would accept it all without hesitation.
However, she didn’t plan on putting everything into the pocket dimension of her current body. ’The Spiritual Energy is shared anyway,’ she thought. She moved all the Spirit Veins into her original body’s pocket dimension. That way, even if she traveled to other worlds, she would still be able to use them.
Ji Xiaosong’s mind was racing with calculations. ’This world is such a great place to stock up on supplies!’ she marveled.
"Cangwu, let’s go home now. We haven’t seen them for a month. Father and Mother must miss me."
Feng Cangwu replied gently, "Alright, Song. Hold on tight."
Spiritual Power surged around him, erupting in a brilliant light that enveloped them both.
In a flash of light, their figures vanished from where they stood.
Space seemed to tear open. Ji Xiaosong’s vision blurred as wind howled in her ears.
In the blink of an eye, the light dissipated, and they were standing steadily at the entrance of Phoenix Splendor Hall.
The Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix suddenly sensed that the restriction on Phoenix Splendor Hall had been triggered, and they instantly appeared before Ji Xiaosong and Feng Cangwu.
The moment she saw it was Ji Xiaosong, Queen Phoenix’s eyes instantly welled with tears.
"My Song, you’re finally back."
Feng Cangwu, standing beside them, was completely ignored. The queen had worried for a month, terrified that her daughter had perished in the Lingwu Secret Realm.
If her daughter’s life lamp in the hall hadn’t remained steadily lit, she would have stormed the secret realm herself.
It was the Phoenix King who recovered first. Seeing Feng Cangwu and recalling how anxiously Queen Phoenix had sent Ji Xiaosong away, he realized who this person standing before them was.
But...
’The Ancestor has already formed a Contract with my daughter,’ he thought. ’How should I address him? What kind of attitude should I take toward this Ancestor?’
