Chapter 128: Chapter 127: The Doomsday Big Shot Arrives 4

Gu Lin simply watched as Ji Xiaosong cleared out everything in the villa. On the way, he would occasionally ask a few questions about superpowers.

"Miss Ji, do you know what the highest level for superpowers will be in the future?"

"I’m not sure. My soul existed in the apocalypse for ten years, and the highest rank I saw then was the Tenth Rank."

"Tenth Rank? I remember the Wood Ability you displayed just now was Tenth Rank, while your Ice Ability is Seventh Rank. So, your Wood Ability is already at Full Level?"

"Not necessarily. What I saw might not be the highest there is. The world is a big place, after all, and I only existed as a soul body near my family. My superpowers are likely considered high-rank right now, but whether they’ll continue to advance, I can’t say for sure."

Ji Xiaosong had always been meticulous. In her past life, she had personally witnessed an Emperor commit numerous acts of utter madness in his pursuit of eternal life.

With such a cautionary tale in her past, she was now naturally vigilant when dealing with those in power, always preparing an exit strategy to avoid being cornered.

Her willingness to reveal so much of her hand now was, first, for the country, and second, for her family.

Seeing that he had asked enough for now, Gu Lin followed Ji Xiaosong onto the helicopter.

By now, military police were patrolling the streets outside, prohibiting anyone from leaving their homes.

Upon arriving at Yongfeng Base, Ji Xiaosong realized it was a converted military base.

"Miss Ji, you and your family can settle in here for the time being. I need to go report to my superiors. My two colleagues who accompanied me to pick you up will show you to your residence. If you have any problems, just let them know. Don’t hesitate to mention anything you might need later on."

Gu Lin escorted Ji Xiaosong to a residential area of detached villas and then departed.

Ji Xiaosong followed two military officers wearing Silver Eagle Badges through three electromagnetic gates, stopping before an off-white building coated in a nanolayer.

As the female officer in the tactical vest scanned her iris, a pale blue screen of light suddenly lowered from the eaves. "A7 Villa has activated Level 3 protection, capable of withstanding a ten-ton equivalent blast."

Once access was confirmed, the female officer said to Ji Xiaosong, "The underground training facility is equipped with a superpower testing chamber. It was just brought in today and hasn’t been used yet, so we’re not sure if it’s operational. If you’re interested, Miss Ji, you could be the first to test it."

The male officer in the gold-rimmed glasses pushed the door open. A holographic butler was adjusting the living room’s climate control. "Miss Ji, my name is Cheng Wei. Mr. Gu specifically mentioned that the east-side laboratory is open at three o’clock every afternoon for observing acid rain samples. You are welcome to accompany the expert team."

Ji Xiaosong nodded. "Just come and get me ahead of time. I’ll go with you."

The family entered the villa, and the two officers gave a brief tour of its features before taking their leave.

In reality, there was very little inside the villa. Aside from the finished bathroom and kitchen, the other rooms were essentially empty.

"Dad, Mom, Brother... I have a feeling we might be living in this villa for a long time. How about I decorate it? I brought everything from our house. If we use our own familiar things, it’ll be more comfortable and feel more like home."

Hearing Ji Xiaosong say this, Ji Chengguang’s eyes filled with pleased relief. He patted her on the shoulder and smiled. "Great idea, Xiaosong. I know I can count on you. Let’s do it your way."

Song Ya looked at her daughter gently, her eyes glistening with tears. She nodded softly. "You’ve worked so hard, dear. As long as our family is together, it doesn’t matter where we live."

Ji Youshu’s lips curved into a grin as he teased, "My little sister is a big shot with amazing powers now. Decorating should be a piece of cake for you. I’ll just sit back and wait for my new home."

A faint smile played on Ji Xiaosong’s lips. She gently raised her hands, and a pale green glow—the light of her Wood Ability—slowly coalesced in her palms. It was like a new sprout breaking through the soil in spring, brimming with vitality.

The light gradually spread, transforming into countless slender vines that shot out toward every corner of the villa.

Wherever the vines went, furniture was arranged in perfect order, and curtains hung themselves, swaying gently in the breeze.

At the same time, she activated her Ice Ability. A crystalline ice flower bloomed at her fingertip, then rapidly expanded and morphed into exquisite ornaments that settled securely on the bookshelves and windowsills.

These ornaments refracted an iridescent light, adding a dreamlike quality to the villa.

Then, with a mere thought from Ji Xiaosong, her spatial storage opened. The household items, decorative paintings, and other things she had brought from home flooded out like a tide, landing precisely in their designated spots.

Photos full of memories hung themselves on the walls, soft carpets unrolled across the floors, and the entire villa instantly became warm and cozy.

Ji Chengguang, Song Ya, and Ji Youshu stood to one side, watching everything with their jaws agape. They were utterly stunned by the powerful superpower and magical feat Ji Xiaosong had just performed.

After a long moment, Mr. Ji finally came to his senses and exclaimed, "Song, your superpower is incredible! Our new home is fantastic!"

Song Ya quickly agreed. "It is, it is! It feels even cozier than our old home."

Ji Youshu walked over to Ji Xiaosong and gave her a thumbs-up. "Little sister, you’re our family’s superhero!"

Ji Xiaosong smiled and waved her hand dismissively. "This is all so our family can live well. From now on, no matter what happens, we’ll face it together."

Just as the family was discussing what to do for their first meal in their new home, Gu Lin arrived at A7 Villa with several people.

Cheng Wei, standing beside Gu Lin, was holding a large box. He spoke to Ji Xiaosong, who had opened the door.

"Miss Ji, my sincerest apologies. Things have been chaotic today, and time was short. Despite our best efforts to prepare the villa, some aspects were left wanting. The villa was still partially empty when you arrived, and for that, we ask for your understanding. These are the remaining decorative items for the villa. We will complete the setup as soon as possible to ensure your stay is comfortable and satisfactory."

Ji Chengguang came over. Seeing the group carrying numerous packages, large and small, he smiled. "It’s no problem. Thanks to my daughter, the villa is already fully decorated. Resources will be scarce in the coming apocalypse, so you should save these furnishings for those who need them more. I’m sure they will help many people."

Gu Lin glanced around. It was indeed a world of difference from the A7 Villa he had seen before.

He took the box from Cheng Wei. "Miss Ji, you can keep these for self-defense. We’ll take the other things with us."

With that, Gu Lin set a dark green weapons case heavily on the entryway console. The sound of the metal latch popping open startled a flock of sparrows outside the window.

Neatly arranged inside the case were a Type 92 handgun, a military dagger, and tear gas canisters. The bottom layer held three pale blue vials wrapped in anti-shock foam.

"Each vial temporarily enhances the five senses for two hours."

He drew the dagger and flung it at the chandelier. An ice shard shot from Ji Xiaosong’s fingertip, deflecting the blade with perfect precision. "But for you," he said, "these might not be necessary."

Ji Youshu reached for the handgun, but Gu Lin pressed the back of his hand. "The safety is fingerprint-locked."

He slapped a military-grade tablet onto the table. A countdown timer pulsed on its projected map of acid rain clouds. "Twelve hours and forty-two minutes remaining. I’ll now teach you the hand signals for emergency evasion."

Ji Xiaosong used a vine to lift a vial, holding it up to the light to inspect it. An Ice Crystal silently permeated the glass tube. "Mr. Gu, why don’t you just say it directly? You want to use my superpower as a human radar?"
