Chapter 105 - 104: The Substitute Bride Young Miss 20
Chapter 105: Chapter 104: The Substitute Bride Young Miss 20
"What is King Wu doing, coming to the Eastern Palace now?"
The Emperor frowned, his voice laced with displeasure.
"Today is the day we detoxify Qingyun," the Empress guessed, standing to one side. "Perhaps he has come to celebrate."
"Then show him in."
The Emperor gave the order, and the gatekeeper turned to announce the visitor.
Ji Xiaosong used her Divine Sense to scan the entire Eastern Palace and discovered it was enveloped in a murderous aura.
’But there are no troops nearby. So where is all this killing intent coming from?’
She looked again at the commoners in the vicinity and, sure enough, saw that there were far more people than usual.
Although these people were dressed as ordinary citizens, their eyes kept darting toward the Eastern Palace.
So that was it. King Wu had hidden his soldiers among the people. At his command, they would move against the Eastern Palace.
Heh.
Ji Xiaosong sneered inwardly. ’The father of my future children can’t be allowed to get hurt. Today is the day of the detoxification. Not even the Heavenly King himself could change that!’
"Father, Mother, I will take Qingyun to the bedroom for his detoxification first. We can receive our guest after I’ve helped him."
The Empress came to her senses as well. The most important thing today was the detoxification. King Wu’s visit was nothing in comparison.
"Good child, go quickly. You mustn’t delay."
Ji Xiaosong performed a courtesy. Unseen by the others, she formed a hand seal within her wide sleeve, and a Barrier enveloped the entire Eastern Palace.
Now, even if King Wu’s soldiers wanted to rebel, they wouldn’t be able to break into the Eastern Palace.
The only exception was the main gate, which served as an escape route and now, the only way in.
Ji Xiaosong took Chu Qingyun’s hand and walked steadily toward the bedroom.
Along the way, she appeared calm, but she was in fact vigilantly observing her surroundings, her sharp senses catching every slight disturbance.
Stepping into the bedroom, she quickly waved her hand, setting up several hidden Spiritual Energy shields to ensure there would be no mistakes.
"Song, once this is over... will I be just like a normal person?"
Chu Qingyun’s eyes filled with anticipation. ’If you can live a good life, who would ever choose to die?’
"Of course. You’re the one who’s going to live a long life with me. We’ll have many children and watch them grow up together. I won’t let you die, so don’t you worry."
She carefully took a jade box from her robes. Inside lay the flower of a Clear Spirit Grass, glowing with a soft, white light.
Ji Xiaosong channeled the Spiritual Energy in her body, transforming it into fine strands of Spirit Silk. She gently wrapped them around the Clear Spirit Grass flower, guiding the slow release of its pure medicinal power.
"Bear with it. This will be over soon."
As she spoke, she guided the Spirit Silk, now suffused with potent medicinal energy, into Chu Qingyun’s mouth.
Chu Qingyun gritted his teeth against the pain, cooperating with Ji Xiaosong.
However, the poison had seeped deep into his bones, and every wisp of medicinal energy that entered his body felt like a difficult battle.
Chu Qingyun’s face would turn deathly pale one moment, then twist in agony the next. Cold sweat poured down his forehead like rain.
Seeing this, Ji Xiaosong’s heart clenched. She increased her output of Spiritual Energy, and fine beads of sweat also appeared on her own forehead.
She continuously chanted a Spell in her mind, using her Spiritual Energy as a conduit to precisely deliver the Clear Spirit Grass’s power to every one of Chu Qingyun’s meridians and every inch of his bones.
Suddenly, the fierce sounds of fighting erupted from outside the bedroom.
The noise was sharp and chaotic—the clang of weapons and shouts of battle intermingled, piercing the silence of the Eastern Palace.
Ji Xiaosong’s expression tightened instantly, a flash of alarm in her eyes.
At that moment, Chu Qingyun was on the verge of fainting from the excruciating pain. His body trembled uncontrollably, his jaw was clenched tight, and large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He was in no state to notice the commotion outside.
Ji Xiaosong was filled with anxiety, but she knew that saving Chu Qingyun was the absolute priority. She could not afford to be distracted.
She focused all her strength on circulating her Spiritual Power, precisely channeling every strand into the Clear Spirit Grass. From there, she guided its medicinal energy deep into Chu Qingyun’s marrow to expel the stubborn poison.
This was a battle against death itself. She didn’t dare to relax for even a second. If her Spiritual Power was interrupted, Chu Qingyun’s life could be forfeit.
Ji Xiaosong prayed silently. She had always treated the East Palace Guards generously, not only rewarding them often but also teaching them Cultivation methods, which had greatly increased their Combat Power.
She could only hope that these guards would remember her kindness and, in this critical moment, use their superior Martial Arts to defend the Eastern Palace to the death, buying her enough time to complete the difficult detoxification.
"Hold on, Qingyun. We’re almost there," Ji Xiaosong encouraged him, while also steeling herself.
As time passed, Chu Qingyun’s pain seemed to lessen. His tightly shut eyes slowly opened, and the cloudy look in them began to fade.
Seeing this sliver of hope, Ji Xiaosong’s spirits soared. She focused even more intently on channeling the medicinal power, refusing to let a single trace of hidden poison remain.
Finally, when the last trace of poison was purged, some color returned to Chu Qingyun’s face, and his breathing steadied.
"Xiaosong, thank you..." Chu Qingyun said weakly.
Ji Xiaosong gave him a relieved smile. "What is there to thank me for? There’s no need for that between us."
The sounds of fighting from outside the bedroom continued, and now Chu Qingyun also sensed that something was wrong.
"Something must have happened outside. Let’s go, quickly!"
Ji Xiaosong took Chu Qingyun’s hand, and in a single flash, they were outside the bedroom.
Outside, the hall was in chaos. The glint of swords and blades flashed everywhere, and the smell of blood filled the air.
The Empress and several Princes and Princesses were surrounded, their faces filled with terror and despair.
Though the Emperor forced himself to remain calm, clutching a sword in his hand, his exhaustion was plain to see.
Most of the East Palace Guards were nowhere to be found today. Ji Xiaosong scanned with her Divine Sense and discovered they had been hit with a powerful sedative.
A cruel smile played on King Wu’s lips as he personally led a group of highly skilled soldiers, pressing the attack step by step.
Blood was still dripping from the long saber in his hand, and his eyes glinted with madness and ambition.
"Today is the day you die! Even if that piece of trash inside is detoxified, he’ll still be a cripple!"
King Wu laughed wildly, his voice grating amidst the chaos.
The Second Prince fought back with all his might but was struck down by one of King Wu’s fiercest generals. He fell to the ground, his condition unknown.
Princess Chaohua, trembling in fear, cowered in a corner, letting out shrill screams.
At that critical moment, Ji Xiaosong and Chu Qingyun suddenly appeared.
Rage burned in Ji Xiaosong’s eyes. The Spiritual Energy around her body erupted in an instant, forming a powerful current of air that knocked the surrounding enemies back several steps.
"Audacious King Wu! How dare you run rampant in the Eastern Palace!"
Ji Xiaosong’s furious shout was like the tolling of a great bell, echoing throughout the entire Eastern Palace.
Although Chu Qingyun had just been detoxified and was still weak, he forced himself to pick up a weapon and fight alongside Ji Xiaosong.
Ji Xiaosong’s hands flew through a series of seals, and streams of Spiritual Power transformed into sharp blades, shooting toward King Wu’s soldiers.
Wherever they struck, enemies fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
King Wu was startled by the sight, but his fierce expression quickly returned.
He swung his long saber and charged at Ji Xiaosong himself, the blade whistling through the air with deadly menace.
Ji Xiaosong was fearless. With a flicker of her body, she easily dodged King Wu’s attack, then countered with a backhand strike, sending a beam of Spiritual Power into his shoulder.
King Wu cried out in pain and staggered, but he refused to give up.
At this point, encouraged by Ji Xiaosong and Chu Qingyun, the remaining guards of the Eastern Palace felt their morale surge, and they launched an even fiercer counterattack.
The two sides were locked in a fierce melee, and the situation reached a stalemate.
Ji Xiaosong fended off the enemy’s attacks while searching for an opening.
Suddenly, she spotted a flaw in King Wu’s defense. Without hesitation, she gathered all the Spiritual Power in her body and unleashed a tremendously powerful blast of it.
The blast, like a cannonball, struck King Wu squarely in the chest.
King Wu’s eyes widened in disbelief before he collapsed heavily to the ground, dead.
Seeing this, his soldiers’ morale shattered. They threw down their helmets and armor and fled in all directions.
Ji Xiaosong and Chu Qingyun led the remaining East Palace Guards who hadn’t been drugged and quickly quelled the rebellion.
"King Wu has always been the most cautious and careful man. Why would he suddenly launch a rebellion today?"
The Emperor was baffled, and the others were even more so.
