What Should I Do If I Find Out My Wife Is the Pope?
Chapter 155: I Am Meilin, Grand Commander of the Judgement Knights! Traitors… Your Judgment Is Nigh!
Translation by: Weebsread👹
“Move!”
A thunderous, godlike force crashed down from the heavens—a wrathful Judgment roaring straight for the earth.
The impact struck like a burning meteor, so fierce that even two Ultimate-level powerhouses—beings at the very summit of mortal might—knew in an instant: this was a blow they could not hope to withstand head-on.
But by then, it was far too late.
BOOM!!!
Twin pillars of blinding light slammed into the ground where the Guard Corps stood.
Mere moments ago, these elite bodyguards carried themselves with arrogant confidence, their eyes brimming with bloodlust. Now, in the blink of an eye, two waves of pure destructive force swallowed them whole.
The searing blast ripped through their enchanted, gold-forged armor as easily as if it were paper.
Shock flashed across their faces, quickly replaced by primal terror. Even as they instinctively triggered every Skill at their disposal, the gulf in power was hopeless.
They were hurled apart—scattered like rag dolls—by a force they could never hope to match. And before they could even begin to recover, another hail of meteors rained down.
“Wait… Is that… my magic?”
Each fireball screamed from the sky, every impact shaking the land to its core.
On a distant hillside, Iresha stood frozen in awe. A genius mage, she had always taken pride in the sheer might and speed of her own spells. Even when facing a Level 70 foe, she believed she could break their lines in an instant.
But this… This was on an entirely different level.
“This is insane. The area-of-effect is as strong as a single-target spell!”
“It must be that country bumpkin’s buff, right?”
She was only Level 60. Yet somehow, Lin Wei’s support had pushed her strength far beyond anything she’d ever imagined.
Compared to Kokoxi, their team’s usual support, the difference was night and day.
If Mr. Lin Wei joined the party… maybe—just maybe—they could defeat the Demon Lord this year.
“Again!”
The thrill of such overwhelming power made Iresha’s eyes shine. She unleashed her mana without restraint, summoning wave after wave of fire-laced meteors to rain down like divine punishment.
The earth outside the village was swallowed by her bombardment, the very ground trembling beneath the onslaught.
“What the hell is going on?”
“Is there a mage casting from a distance?”
The air burned so hot it left nothing but craters in its wake.
The Guard Corps—so full of bravado just moments ago—were now reduced to scattered survivors, barely clinging to life.
Carlos, their leader, scowled in fury. The sudden barrage had decimated his squad—at least two-thirds were dead or crippled.
Barely a dozen remained on the fringes, just enough to finish the slaughter… but far too few to continue their planned raid on near villages of the City-State of Brook.
“All this from a single hidden mage? Is it that princess the reports mentioned? What level is she?”
But there was no time for second-guessing.
Explosions echoed in the night, waves of energy rippling through the darkness.
There was nothing in the village that could threaten them—except perhaps the priest floating overhead, and the mage lurking in the shadows.
Randy, a seasoned captain, pieced the clues together in an instant. His gaze snapped to the distant hillside.
“That’s it! Randy, you take care of the priest in the sky. The rest of you, search the hills with me—don’t hold back, it’s now or never!”
Their intentions couldn't have been clearer. The Holy See’s agent knew too much—they would never be allowed back in the Empire after tonight.
There would be no pardon for their crimes. All that mattered now was escape.
We cannot—must not—be caught by the Holy See!
“I understand!”
No hesitation.
In the next instant, two beams of searing red light descended from the heavens, locking onto Carlos and Randy.
Lin Wei, having just unleashed his holy blade, didn't even bother to intervene.
Power surged, layer upon layer, as the light enveloped them. And then—from behind—an enormous blood-red phantom began to materialize.
It was a colossal, broad-shouldered figure, every inch of its bronze skin seeming to be forged from the hardest metal.
Clad in ancient, heavy armor and wielding a battleaxe, it rampaged across the battlefield. Each blow could shred the armor of any peer.
A wild mane of beard whipped in the wind, the face twisted with the raw essence of power.
They said, in the Age of Gods, a dwarven hero like this once lived. Born with unmatched talent, he left home as an adult to forge his own weapon on a journey that would last centuries.
He tore apart black beasts with his bare hands, smashed through mountains of ore, crossed snowy peaks, jungles, and rivers.
Three hundred years later, he returned with all the ingredients he needed.
But the Fallen God had come, leading its minions to destroy his homeland.
So he hurled his unfinished battleaxe with all his might—cutting down the dark god, bathing himself in golden blood, and earning the right to ascend the Stairway of Divinity.
He became a god whose power would echo through the ages.
His name: Rondo, Wrath of the Earthheart.
BOOM—
The blood-soaked axe whistled through the air, a streak of terrifying energy aimed straight at Lin Wei.
It cleaved through the falling meteors, detonating them midair.
“Die!”
The raw force packed into every second of its flight was overwhelming—a killing intent that could pierce all defenses.
Just watching it spin closer, closer, was enough to chill the soul—a terror that reached the marrow.
“Not bad.”
But… Lin Wei didn’t move. He simply stood there, as if he hadn’t even noticed the incoming attack.
Carlos’s face twisted with shock, then wild glee. He’d thrown the axe to buy Randy time to escape, never expecting Lin Wei to try to take the blow head-on.
You’re dead now!
No one could withstand the full might of an Ultimate-level powerhouse—not even the clergy of the Holy See.
You killed my comrades, ruined my future—death is the only atonement you’ll get.
“Not bad at all.”
Lin Wei caught the spinning blood-axe with one hand, as easily as picking up a stick, and tossed it aside like garbage.
The heavy clang echoed through the air, louder than the falling meteors—a blow to the heart.
“I haven’t fought many human champions on the battlefield, but I know your strength.”
“You only inherited that power a couple of years ago, and you’re already this strong. The hero you inherited from must have been a legend of the Age of Gods, right?”
Lin Wei nodded in genuine admiration. If an ordinary Transcendent tried to take that blow, they’d be dead in an instant.
“Wh-What…?!”
Carlos stared, dumbfounded.
He’d gone all out—no holding back. Even another Ultimate would be gravely wounded trying to block that.
And this man… just caught it? Effortlessly?
“What the hell are you?”
No sign of a Legacy, no transformation… yet his power was beyond anything Carlos had ever seen.
Was he even human?
A suffocating terror—the certainty of death—flooded Carlos’s body. He stumbled back, the godly power of his Legacy screaming at him to run.
But suddenly, he realized the world around him was cut off by a wall of fire. Not a domain, not some special ability—just simple, blinding flames blocking all vision.
“What level am I?”
Lin Wei grinned, stretching his arms as if warming up.
“How should I know? Who would I even ask?”
That smile only made Carlos’s dread worse.
“After all, there’s no one else in this world who’s reached Level 100 without inheriting a Legacy.”
“Now then… I remember when you were slaughtering villagers earlier, you seemed to be enjoying yourself the most.”
The meteor shower was fading now. Iresha, hiding on the hillside, was probably already on the run.
“No point wasting more time on you.”
“Letting you think the mage was the main threat worked out perfectly. No one will question it when a Level 70 Transcendent manages to ‘defeat’ an Ultimate-level powerhouse.”
It was a simple statement, but it shattered Carlos’s worldview.
He hadn’t felt this kind of panic since the day he became a champion.
Desperate, he tried to call his axe back to his hand, hoping for even a shred of safety.
“Looking for your weapon?”
But in the next instant, Lin Wei snapped the connection with a flick of his fingers. The blood-axe leapt to his hand, and he examined it briefly before tossing it back behind him.
“Here, have it back.”
SPLAT—
The axe blurred through the air, impossible to follow, and tore right through Carlos’s waist.
The weapon crashed into a distant cliff, shaking the mountain itself.
Lin Wei, already moving, didn’t even look back as Carlos’s body—entrails spilling, face frozen in terror—fell to the ground in pieces.
“What the…? Carlos’s aura just vanished?”
At the same time.
Randy and the last of the Guard Corps reached the hillside, catching sight of the mage fleeing ahead.
The holy blade’s earlier impact had looked terrifying, but it was the meteor shower that nearly wiped them out.
That’s why Randy led the survivors in pursuit of the mage. If Carlos hadn’t finished off the priest, he’d do it himself later.
But… why had Carlos disappeared?
Was he… killed?
Impossible! An Ultimate-level powerhouse, killed by a standard Transcendent? He’d sooner believe Duke Ous would drop dead tonight.
Was it some kind of interference? Or had the Holy See’s reinforcements arrived that quickly?
Either way, it was too late to escape into the Northern Countries. The only thing left was to kill the mage—otherwise, morale would shatter, and even he couldn’t bear the shame.
“A mage running this fast? Is she an Ultimate too?”
“There you are!”
After a brief chase, a flash of red darted through the forest—finally in his sights.
She wasn’t flying, just running with speed magic. But the lingering mana from her earlier spell made her impossible to miss.
Doesn’t she know how to hide her presence?
“Where do these weirdos keep coming from?”
“She’s not an Ultimate—did she use some kind of artifact to boost her power?”
Whatever. No point thinking about it.
Randy hurled his blood-axe at the fleeing mage, a blow strong enough to slice through anything.
“Let’s see how far you get now!”
Damn it!
Iresha felt the killing intent behind her, the air itself crackling with heat and sharpness.
She instinctively clutched the crystal necklace around her neck—a protective artifact she’d fetched from home after being ambushed by goblins in the labyrinth.
But could it really protect her from an Ultimate-level foe?
“That country boy promised I’d be fine…”
“But where the hell are those helpers of his now?!”
If they don’t show up, I’m dead!
BOOM!!
A thunderous explosion rocked the ground behind her.
Iresha shrank her neck, bracing for death—but her necklace didn’t activate. She wasn’t cut in half. In fact, she didn’t feel a thing.
Confused, she glanced back—and saw Lin Wei, calm as ever, catching the spinning, lightning-wreathed axe with one hand. The air still sizzled with thunder.
It was as if a raging tornado had slammed into an unbreakable wall—all that force, instantly snuffed out.
“No way!”
“Not bad. You’re even stronger than the last guy! You two must be close—you inherited the same hero, right?”
Lin Wei tossed the axe back to Randy and shot a glance at Iresha, who’d finally stopped running, hair wild and face flushed.
He couldn’t help but find her panicked look amusing. Maybe it was time she learned to fly.
“You okay?”
He quietly withdrew the hidden shield he’d placed on the back of her neck. He almost stepped in, but decided to let the artifact do its job. It’d expire in a month anyway—unless she was truly unlucky, it wouldn’t trigger.
“I—I’m fine!”
He promised nothing would happen, but showing up at the last second isn’t good for my heart!
Even facing an Ultimate-level enemy, seeing Lin Wei gave Iresha a surprising sense of security. She felt herself relax completely.
“You… you escaped from Carlos?”
The way they chatted, you’d think Randy didn’t even exist.
But even with such arrogance, Randy didn’t let his guard down—in fact, he felt more tense than ever.
“Escaped? From Carlos?”
Lin Wei had caught the attack effortlessly, chatting and laughing as if nothing happened. The truth was written all over his face.
As much as Randy wanted to deny it, he couldn’t.
“Of course not. I killed him before coming here.”
“But don’t worry—I have no intention of fighting you.”
“When Duke Ous sent you here to slaughter these villagers, I bet you didn’t expect to walk into a trap, did you?”
Lin Wei’s easy smile was laced with mockery.
Randy frowned, signaling the others with his eyes. Energy gathered in his palm as he prepared to attack and run.
“What’s your point?”
“Two things. First, your heavy losses are punishment for killing innocent villagers—and for stealing logistics from the Holy See.”
Randy’s eyes widened—he’d just been named as the culprit.
Lin Wei nodded in satisfaction, then continued:
“Second, don’t bother trying to charge up for a sneak attack. I’m not planning to fight you, and even if you try to run, I won’t take a single step after you.”
“Because…”
He pointed to the sky, a smile spreading across his face.
“She’s the one who’ll deal with you next.”
The words had barely left his lips when—
BOOM!!!
A golden pillar of light crashed down from the heavens, as if a god had descended.
Endless lightning surged, holy radiance flooding the world. It was blinding, suffocating—a sacred power that seemed to freeze time itself.
“Wh-What…?”
Randy stared in disbelief as the world was swallowed by light.
A deafening silence fell as the glow faded. Then, without warning, an overwhelming force swept through the area.
A sea of thunder, driven by divine wrath, obliterated everything.
“AAAAHHH!!!”
Randy’s instincts screamed as he swung his axe upward, desperate to shield himself.
But the rest of the Guard Corps—already battered—were instantly annihilated. Armor shattered, weapons and energy shields crumbled, bodies fell into the sea of light.
Only Randy, blood pouring from his mouth, managed to remain standing—barely.
And then, in his terrified gaze, she appeared.
Striding from the dying light, clad in the Holy See’s iconic cloak and armor, was a woman whose very presence radiated divine authority.
Her face was beautiful and proud, golden eyes cold and merciless.
She held the Holy Lance, her gaze sweeping across the battlefield with chilling indifference.
Her golden hair, intricately braided, fell behind her cloak—her very figure seemed to glow, even in the darkness.
Only when her eyes passed over Lin Wei and Iresha did she pause, just for a heartbeat.
Then she leveled her lance at Randy, who could barely stand.
“I am Meilin, Grand Commander of the Judgement Knights.
By order of the Holy See, I have come to the borderlands to pass judgment on those who colluded with the Cult of the Evil God, attacked our supply lines, and sought to massacre villagers for profit—subordinates of Duke Ous, noble of the Empire.
I have seen your crimes with my own eyes.
You shameful traitors—what do you have to say for yourselves?”
