Chapter 1228: Just Punch Your Way Through
Chapter 1228: Just Punch Your Way Through
“I guess we’re jumping in then?” I muttered, looking at the hole in the ground.
We already checked the rest of the cave and there was literally no other way out aside from this hole. And we’ve also waited for a good ten or so minutes and nothing else happened so this really looked like the way out of here.
Odeta turned to grin at me, “Let me go first, Sister Aster! Just to be safe!”
I shook my head, “We’ll go together. Otherwise we might get separated. Here, take my hand and we’ll jump in at the same time.”
I reached out my hand to her and she let out a cute giggle before she slipped her hand into mine, entwining our fingers together.
Making sure that I had a firm grip on her, I nodded before both of us jumped into the hole at the same time.
Wind blew past us and I got ready to flare my wings to slow us down the moment I see something resembling a ground appear, but that proved to be unnecessary because our descent suddenly slowed inexplicably.
It felt like gravity suddenly stopped exerting its influence on us and we started floating gently down, right as another hole opened up in the darkness that showed a wooden floor past it.
We dropped down and landed on the floor, prompting me to immediately look around to find out where we were.
The first thing I noticed was that the building we were in looked especially rundown like it had been abandoned for a while with broken wooden floorboards and ceiling tiles.
It seems like they were using my memories again because the building was obviously from my old World with the fluorescent lightbulbs hanging above us.
I was still wondering what kind of place this was until I looked to the side and saw the sliding doors and the windows beside me.
Behind them were rows of tables and chairs all facing a blackboard at the front, hinting to me that this was a school of sorts.
And seeing that the floor was made of wood, I believe this was supposed to be a rather old school at that.
What are we supposed to do here?
“What’s this place?” Odeta asked, looking around in wonder.
“Well… It’s known as a school in my old World.”
She spun back to me, “Did we go back to your World, Sister Aster?”
“I don’t think that’s possible considering the fact that my old World was destroyed, Odeta… Unless they somehow manage to fix the World or something which I doubt so.”
“Huh… So what’s this then? Are they expecting us to study here or something? This place looks like trash though.”
“Yeah… It looks like those abandoned buildings that were left to rot and had been broken down over time. Wait… If my guess isn’t wrong… I think–”
Creak~
The sound of a piece of wood groaning from being stepped on echoed from behind us.
Both of us spun around at the same time to see a girl wearing the recognisable sailor uniform standing behind us.
She had long hair that completely covered her face and her skin was also dull grey in colour like a corpse’s.
The weird thing was that she looked more like an adult cosplaying as a student instead of an actual student given the fact that she was quite tall and… Well… Had quite significant assets.
It doesn’t help that she was also wearing high heels and black stockings while her blouse was exposing her midriff.
Oh… I think I have a feeling it took both mine and Odeta’s memories to recreate this or something so there’s a mix of both themes. To Odeta, this might be a normal way of dressing but they took the school uniform from me and mixed them together to create this.
Odeta frowned at the sight of the woman, “Is this girl a monster?”
I was about to say no before I stopped myself, “Erm… She could be… Considering the fact that they seem to be trying to use horror to deal with us or something…”
“What is she going to do?”
“I don’t know… Maybe she’s going to just attack us or something?”
As though responding to my words, the woman suddenly disappeared and reappeared rapidly to approach us without warning, as though she was teleporting repeatedly.
But the moment she got close to us however, all she got was Odeta pulling back her fist and punching her in the face.
Or… More accurate, at where her face should be. It was hard to tell since her hair was covering it.
The impact of the punch created a small shockwave and the girl was sent flying back, bouncing on one of the windows with a loud crash before being flung even further back down the hallway.
Ouch…
Interestingly enough, the wall and window showed no signs of damage despite her crashing into it with that much force… Which means they’re probably indestructible.
“She’s weak,” Odeta huffed, dusting her palms.
I think it’s a matter of you being too strong, Odeta… Still, I have to admit that was really cool.
I peeked in the direction of where the woman was sent flying and it looked like she had disintegrated or something because I didn’t see a corpse at where she had landed.
I then looked around the hallway, trying to see if there were more entities or if there might be a clue on what was expected of us here.
That was when I noticed that the door leading to one of the classrooms at the very end of the hallway was left open.
I turned towards the door closest to us and tried to open this door instead and, unsurprisingly, found that it was locked.
The door did rattle from being moved so… Hmm… Let me try something here…
I pulled back my own fist and buffed myself with [Strength] before I punched at the door.
I was honestly surprised to see the door fly off the rails and crash into the room with a thundering crash before they broke into pieces from smashing into the wall.
The tables and chairs inside the class also ended up flying towards the front of the class from the air pressure of the door flying in, making the room look like a tornado had blown through here.
Odeta laughed, “Wahahaha! Should I go ahead and break down all the other doors as well, Sister Aster?”
“Ah, no… I was just testing out if the doors were unbreakable… Seems like only the walls and windows were unbreakable but the doors are fair game huh…”
Odeta looked around the classroom that had been messed up by me, “So… Was something supposed to be in here? Do we start searching around for stuff?”
I shrugged, “Since we’re already here, might as well I guess? Look for anything that might be out of place or something.”
“Oh! Look over there, Sister Aster!” She cried out as soon as I finished my words, pointing her finger behind me.
Huh, that was fast.
I shifted my gaze to where she was pointing at and there was something shining on the ground.
It kind of reminded me of those games where they would make something glow on your screen to show you there was something that you could pick up over there.
I moved closer to it and I realised it was a key that was left on the floor, which I assume had fallen out of one of the tables that had been sent flying earlier.
When I reached forward to pick it up, a hand suddenly appeared from under one of the desks and tried to grab it before I could.
I reacted immediately and grabbed the hand’s wrist, stopping it from retracting back into the table when it managed to snatch the key.
“Bitch, let go,” I snarled, using my other fist to start hammering on the hand.
When it still showed no signs of letting go, I considered cutting it off with my sword when Odeta appeared beside me with her foot raised up.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she stomped down on the arm with a loud crack, snapping the bone of the arm like a twig.
But despite the arm being broken, it doesn’t seem like it was going to let go of the key.
I growled at it and flipped it around to force open the fingers and pried the key out of its palm.
It tried to snatch it back again so I gave it a kick and it finally retreated back under the table, disappearing from sight.
Bitch, my key. No snatchy.
Odeta peeked over my shoulder, “What’s that for?”
“Probably a key for one of the rooms or something, guess we’ll find out. Let’s go check out that room with the open door firs–”
A scream came from that direction the moment I mentioned it, interrupting me.
The problem was… That scream sounded like Lisa’s.
I shared a look with Odeta and we immediately rushed towards that room.
This place better not have done something to her!
