What Do You Mean There Are Other Transmigrators In My Harem Fantasy?

Chapter 1215: There’s Still More Of Them

Chapter 1215: There’s Still More Of Them

I’m not sure if they were doing it intentionally or not but… Over the next three days, it was really obvious who was sent to spy on me.

Like seriously… You positioned a guy literally laying down on top of a roof with no cover and watching our inn with a spyglass in his hands…

Then there’s the group of people that were literally just sitting outside our inn who were doing nothing but watching the entrance as though waiting for me to appear just so that they could follow me or something.

I’m guessing that this is either Prince Hisami not being able to find competent spies… Or they are just a distraction to hide the real spies.

If I had to guess… I’m going to assume that it’s the latter.

Either way, it didn’t matter because I just literally spent the next three days exploring the city and eating sweets.

I’m pretty sure the only information they got from me was that I liked sweets which was something they should already know anyway.

I think they got a little desperate after the second day because on the third day itself, several Nekomatas suddenly intercepted us on the street and tried to act like they were remnants of the group and attacked us.

They weren’t even trying to be subtle about it either. Like it was in the middle of a busy street with lots of onlookers around and they just jumped out and charged at us with weapons in hand and shooting spells at us.

Understandably, there was quite a lot of panic but we took care of them pretty easily.

I was actually expecting them to be elites or something but that was not the case at all.

They felt like amateurs, especially since they did not lay any ambushes or even had any other plan aside from charging straight towards us and hoping that was enough to get rid of us.

We chose not to kill them and simply knocked them out instead before we personally brought them over to the palace to hand them over to the Royal Guards. Hopefully Prince Hisami will feel grateful that we didn’t just outright kill his men or something.

Why didn’t we just accuse him of it? Because there’s no proof anyway and if we were to start throwing accusations without them, it might affect our time here.

Besides… It’s not like we’re planning to live here anyway. We’ll just avoid them after we leave.

The only question was why were they trying to attack us? If they really wanted us dead, they could have sent better assassins instead of these amateurs.

So unless these were really the best that they’ve got… I don’t see how this would even achieve anything.

Still… It’s not like I could just ask them to their faces either so I asked Katsuki to see if they could find out any information about this.

When we left the palace, we got ambushed again but we were already expecting that so it was no surprise to us.

We were even prepared for this to be the real ambush where they first get our guards down with the first ambush before they send in the elites after us for the second ambush.

But this group was just as bad as the first one.

Despite the fact that they were attacking us in the evening where they had the advantage of the cover of darkness… They actually carried torches along to reveal their presence before rushing towards us.

Like… Seriously? Even though I’m not a professional assassin… Even I wouldn’t do something as stupid as that…

At that point, I was wondering if they were legitimately remnants of those two groups trying to seek revenge on us and not assassins the prince sent to deal with us.

Even when I used [Screened] on them, their titles outed them to be ’Member of Wanderer’s Guides’ or ’Member of Progressive Collective’ which didn’t really prove anything since these guys could be members being manipulated by anyone to attack us.

The only people who should have known about our involvement with the attack at the manor are either dead, or the Royal Family… So for these guys to attack us, that can only mean that the information was leaked somehow.

We then had to bring this group to the palace one more time to turn them in before we left, fully expecting there to be a third attempt on our lives after we left.

We were not disappointed as not long after we left the upper district, another group showed up.

This group was even more unhinged than the previous one as they were straight up waiting for us in the middle of the road gathered in a group and charged us the moment they saw us.

Like seriously, they weren’t even trying to hide it…

This time, we didn’t even need to do anything because after the second time this happened, the prince sent a couple of Royal Guards to accompany us from a distance for protection.

So we just stood there and watched as the Royal Guards simply counter charged them and mopped them up without us needing to do anything.

The Royal Guards then tied them up and took them away and we just headed back to the inn, thankfully without any other incident.

When we reached the inn, one of the inn’s staff members came up to us and bowed her head.

“Lady Aster? Someone came by earlier to drop off a message and said that it was meant for Miss Katsuki?”

Oh? That’s a surprise.

I stepped aside and allowed Katsuki to receive a folded up piece of paper from the staff member who quickly left after handing Katsuki the paper.

Katsuki read it quickly before she burned it with her fire magic and turned to me.

“Mistress… Those people were really remnants of the two extremist groups. But it seems like our involvement in the raid had been leaked by someone from the palace and they believe we are the primary reason why most of their leadership had been killed overnight. The first group were remnants from the Wanderer’s Guides, the second group were from the Progressive Collective and the third group was a mix of both.”

Everything clicked right then.

“These cunning royals… They didn’t send these people to kill us… They’re using us to root out the remainder of those guys…”

And because they weren’t sure how long it would take for these guys to mount a response, they made the excuse that it would take three extra days to give them time to organise and strike back against us.

Emilia made a face at me, “Should we charge them extra for this then?”

“Can we? I believe our original contract mentioned that we would completely destroy both organisations so this would still fall within our job scope, wouldn’t it?

My Nekomata lover grimaced, “That is true… Unfortunately, this means that we would have to deal with them ourselves…”

“And seeing that these people shouldn’t be the leaders… They might still be planning to attack us.”

Katsuki nodded, “They are planning a final attack on us tonight, Mistress. They had tracked us to the inn and will attempt a night attack on us.”

“I don’t get it. Why do they even need to attack us? Shouldn’t they be in hiding instead? They’re basically revealing themselves and ensuring that they will be wiped out instead of rebuilding themselves again.”

“They lost their leadership, Mistress. If they are not able to show that they could at least fight back, they would not even be able to maintain their control over the group and it would be disbanded anyway.”

So it’s a matter of damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Guess we really screwed them huh?

I turned to my girls, “So I guess we should prepare for them to assault us tonight huh? Guess we aren’t sleeping tonight then.”

Katsuki shook her head, “There’s no need for that, Mistress. Just give the order and I will get our people to finish them off. We already know where they are and it would be simple to take them all out together.”

Ah… I forgot that we already infiltrated some of our servants into their group to begin with…

“Would it be dangerous for them?” I asked.

“Mistress, they would not be able to react to our attack. Please rest assured that by tonight, both of these groups within the city will cease to exist.”

Honestly, that’s pretty terrifying…

I realised that if we really wanted to, there wasn’t even a need for us to follow Prince Hisami to attack that manor previously…

We could have just activated our servants and they would have massacred them without them even realising that they had been exposed…

I guess at least the prince and my girls had their fun.

For this case though…

I nodded at Katsuki, “Do it.”

“Understood Mistress. Please leave it to me.”

Right… Guess we’ll be sleeping tonight after all.
