Chapter 1126: An Executive
Unerolia swung her sword towards the guy again, still aiming to cut his head off.
He took a step back to avoid the swing and counterattacked with an overhead slash of his own, the blade coming down towards Unerolia’s head.
Sister Rolia adjusted her grip on her blade and swung it up to parry the blow away before delivering a kick to his abdomen, kicking him skidding back.
The weight over us suddenly disappeared and I assumed that blow managed to break his concentration over the spell and freed us from it.
The girls immediately leapt back up on their feet and I took charge once again.
“Odeta! Support Unerolia! Emilia, Katsuki! Get the slaves and the kids! Delmare, Lisa! Stop those slavers!”
All of them split up to follow my instructions while I remained where I was to support them.
Since they already knew we were here, Katsuki did not need to keep up the diversion anymore and appeared near the kids while Emilia went for the cage the slaves were being held in.
Amongst the kids was Tom who immediately recognised Katsuki when she appeared in front of them.
“The… The maid sister?” He muttered in surprise. “What… What’s going on?”
Katsuki nodded at him, “We are here to rescue you under the instructions of my Mistress, little Tom. Please follow me as I will now guide you to safety while we deal with these bad people.”
The kids were all looking at each other in confusion.
“Bad… People? Who?”
“What’s going on? Why are they fighting?”
“Aren’t we supposed to get bread after this?”
“I… I wanna go home…”
Damn… These slavers really used these kids without even letting them have a clue what was happening huh…
Tom quickly called out to the kids, “We… We should follow maid sister! She… She gave me and my friends food earlier! She’s a nice person!”
At least Tom was smart enough to be aware…
Katsuki nodded, “Worry not, I can prepare food for all of you as well. But I will need all of you to follow me.”
“Yay, food!”
“Follow pretty maid sister!”
“Pretty maid sister!”
Hey! That ’maid sister’ is mine! I’m not giving her to you even if you’re kids, got it?!
Katsuki then led them out of the clearing and into the forest out of harm’s way where Emilia had already left with the slaves she rescued.
My Nekomata merchant didn’t even need to try and convince those slaves to escape with her.
The moment she cut open the cage, the slaves were already begging her to let them follow her to escape so she just took them out and ran off.
Turning my attention back to the fight, it was clear that the other slavers were no match for my girls as Lisa and Delmare were completely obliterating any adversaries stupid enough to fight them with ease.
I’ve seen Delmare fight before and I have to say that her swordplay was as beautiful as her singing with how she parried and struck with her rapier.
Ok, that was a lie, her singing was still much more beautiful but her swordplay really was a sight to see as well.
Then Lisa was just firing off [Laser] spells to incapacitate the slavers, intentionally avoiding leaving any fatal wounds.
On the other hand…
Unerolia and Odeta were working together to fight against that weird guy and despite the fight being a two versus one, they were still at a stalemate.
Odeta rushed up to the guy and attempted to deliver a punch to his gut, but he caught her fist with his palm while using his other hand to swing his sword in an arc to redirect Unerolia’s sword lunge towards the side at the same time.
He then kicked at Odeta’s side to shove her back while stabbing his sword at Unerolia, forcing her to back away from him to avoid the attack.
I used [Heal] on Odeta who immediately rushed back in again to punch at his face.
The guy ducked under the blow and spun out of the way before Unerolia’s sword cleaved through the space that he had been just a second ago.
“Hmm… Now I know why you look so familiar,” The guy mused, not even sounding tired from fighting the two of them. “You’re the City Lord of Asttol City, aren’t you?”
Unerolia did not answer him and tried to slash her sword at his side which he casually parried away with a flick of his wrist.
He then shifted his gaze towards my direction, “And you must be Aster then? I’m surprised you are even involved in this.”
I frowned at him, how does he know my name?
Since he knows me… I might as well just check his stats too with my [Screened].

Ok… That’s some really impressive stats… And Gravimancy? I’m guessing that magic has something to do with gravity or something? Also… He’s not an Off-Worlder either? That’s definitely a surprise.
He must have used it to immobilise us earlier by increasing the gravity around us… Now I wonder if I can learn that since it was a magic that wasn’t offered as a choice during our character creation.
Also… From his title, I’m assuming he used to be some important noble but either got exiled or discovered he was doing illegal slavery at the side which led to him being a member of this criminal group.
With his executive title… I’m going to just make a guess that there are also other executives in this group and they were all around the same level in strength as he is…
Well… This pretty much confirms that this group was bigger than we thought…
Heck, they might even have other outposts elsewhere and these guys might only just be a small group within a large organisation too.
The fight between the three of them continued as Unerolia tried to rush towards him again to stab him in the chest.
That Franco guy stuck out his hand and the ground beneath Unerolia shook, the guy most likely using his Gravimancy magic once again to try and push Unerolia to the ground.
But once again, Unerolia shrugged off the spell and continued to charge at him, forcing him to use his sword to parry the blade aside to avoid being skewered.
However, Sister Rolia used that to her advantage as she spun her sword around and struck the pommel into his side, causing him to wince before he leapt back to distance himself from her.
Unfortunately for him, Odeta had also anticipated him to do that as she was already running towards him and delivering a flying kick towards his face.
He turned around just in time to raise his sword to defend against the kick but he was certainly not expecting her kick to be that strong as he got flung back to tumble onto the ground instead.
Ha! I not only cast [Strength] on her, but I also layered the spell with a [Body Current] as well! That’s what you get for underestimating us!
That Franco guy used the momentum to roll up to his feet and scowled at us.
He was about to move forward to engage us again when Delmare and Lisa joined Odeta and Unerolia behind them.
It was only now did he realise that everyone else in the camp had already been defeated and he was the only one on their side that was still standing.
Even Katsuki and Emilia had returned and appeared behind him, effectively surrounding him and cutting off any routes of escape.
The kids and the slaves were currently being watched over by Eins so there was no need to worry about them for the moment. We just need to focus on capturing this guy and extracting whatever he knew about this group from him.
I was expecting him to just fight to the bitter end but surprisingly, he suddenly lowered his sword and let out a sigh, “I guess there’s no point in fighting anymore, is there? You got us here.”
Of course, none of us were willing to let down our guard yet and we slowly approached him.
He smiled at us, “Oh, you thought I was giving up? Sorry but…”
He stretched his arm out with his palm facing the ground and a circle of light suddenly appeared beneath his feet.
“Not good! Get him!!” Unerolia shouted, already rushing forward to catch him.
Emilia and Katsuki appeared near him first but they found themselves stopped by an invisible barrier that had appeared around him.
The guy simply gave us another smile before he disappeared into particles of light, leaving no trace of him having been there.
God damnit! He escaped?!
