That guy was really that big of a coward huh?

He’s trying so hard to save his reputation that he would go so far as to try and attempt murder... Some people really are stupid...

He was willing to sacrifice his security team just to get rid of the embarrassment, not even considering what might happen if he had no more security personnel to deal with the troublemakers in the station.

At this stage, I have no sympathy for whatever might happen to him after this, because I am very sure that my girls aren’t going to let him off lightly.

Thankfully, it seems like his attempts on our lives stopped at the boobytrapping of the safe room at least.

To be honest, the fact that he could arrange for so many things in such a short time was already quite impressive. That meant he had quite a lot of influence or he had quite a number of supporters who remained on this station despite what he had done.

These people actually willingly helped him arrange this despite knowing the overseer basically abandoned them to their fates the moment he knew about the Leviathan.

I don’t know if that was a sign of blind obedience or something else... The best case scenario is that he just bribed them with a lot of Credits or something because at least those people would be loyal to money and not the dumb overseer.

For now, we were housed up in a secure location that Justin managed to get for us while waiting for the overseer’s return.

From what I know, they had gone ahead to ’leak’ out news that the explosion of the safe room had seemingly taken out all of us and we had perished inside the explosion.

Because if news had leaked out that we had survived, the guy might run away instead of coming back here.

The place we were staying was a facility under the administration tower which seemed to function as a bunker in case of emergencies as well. The amenities were relatively sparse seeing that this wasn’t a place designed for comfort so we would have to make do.

The good thing was that there were a few of those VR Capsule machines here which we could use for entertainment while waiting for that overseer to show up.

The sad thing was that there weren’t any cooking appliances here and we were stuck with just eating synthfood.

The good thing was that I could still mix the synthfood to combine them together with the spices and sauces that Renata has stored in her to make something edible.

I was worried about Freyja and Nerissa but at least the Renata on the ship would be able to tide them over with some of the pre-prepared food I had made for them for situations like this.

They estimated that it would take at least a few more days before the overseer arrived and my only worry was the Reapers believing that we were dead and that our agreement was therefore invalidated.

I figured that if that came to be, then it would just be a missed opportunity but it won’t be that big of a deal.

It was better that my girls manage to get their satisfaction in dealing with the overseer than just earning a few million more Credits.

While we were waiting, I decided to make use of the VR Capsule machine to try and find some entertainment. Thankfully, I already learned how to lower my Psionic defences to be able to use the machine or else I would be completely locked out of it.

Some of my girls were also taking turns using the other machines, though most of them seemed content with just browsing the GalaNet through their personal terminals instead.

The main reason why I was using the VR Capsule was because Ries wanted more content to be recorded in preparation for our comeback from the ’dead’, since both she and Vier believed that our perceived death and eventual ’revival’ will spark GalaNet interest that we could capitalise on.

I don’t even want to ask if there were people who tried to fake their own deaths just to get attention before because I am very sure that there have been such cases.

I thought Ries would want me to play that space game again but this time she put me in a shooter instead.

It was the same game that she had been playing the last time and got her ass handed to her by that SonicSlayer guy on stream.

I honestly wasn’t really that good at shooter games but... Maybe this might be different since I’ve gotten used to the real life equivalent in this universe so I didn’t protest. I actually thought the game looked rather fun in a way, especially since I wouldn’t really need to worry about actually dying in the game itself.

Like what I had seen before, this game was a battle royale type shooter and since it was a genre I was already rather familiar with, I didn’t really need much before I jumped into a game after rushing through the mandatory tutorial.

They had the option to let me play as a solo or as a team and I decided that I would just jump in solo instead.

I was placed into a match almost immediately and I found myself standing in the interior of a plane that was flying above a large island, the cargo doors of the plane slowly opening as we flew over it.

Around me were other players that were waiting for the cargo bay doors to open completely, our collision being turned off which allowed us to walk through each other at the moment.

The moment the light on the side of the cargo hold turned green, a few people were already jumping out of the vehicle, going for a hot drop fight down below at the nearest point of interest.

I was one of them as I dove down from the sky, feeling the wind blowing past my face but somehow not affecting my sight as I angled myself towards the tower looking building right below me, the shape of it resembling a giant lighthouse.

I could see various different teams all heading towards the same tower as well, some of them also alone, others in pairs and the rest in trios which was the maximum number in a party for this game.

I aimed myself towards the top of the tower, which was apparently a hot zone for players since quite a lot of people were also heading there as well.

Additionally, I also noted that a trio of players were also angling themselves after me, most likely believing that they could just gang up on me and take me out for an easy kill.

The good news was that I was dropping down faster than they were so I should reach the tower first and be able to look for a weapon before they can.

As expected, my feet touched the ground first on the ledge surrounding the top of the tower, the game having no fall damage so I was able to sprint forward despite having fallen several thousands of feet from the air.

I managed to find the door that would lead inside the tower and rammed it open with my shoulder, hearing the sounds of three people landing just a few feet behind me.

I kicked the door closed as I ran past, my eyes already searching for a weapon to find a pistol with several boxes of bullets surrounding it on the ground nearby.

As the thunder of footsteps neared the door, I dove for the pistol and grabbed it, the bullets automatically absorbing into my body to appear in the form of magazines on my waist.

I took one of them and slammed it into the pistol before cocking it, spinning back to a crouch to level my gun at the door.

Right on time, the door burst open to allow three of the players to rush in, only to be met with several bullets fired at them and nailing each of them in the chest twice.

Well... That would have been enough to at least disable them but... I almost forgot this was a game with health bars and my shots only damaged them which barely slowed them down at all as they just rushed at me while tanking the shots.

I cursed at myself for forgetting that and dove away, avoiding the telegraphed punch the first guy sent my way.

I fired behind me, opting to empty the magazine this time on the first guy and that was enough to drop his health to zero before he fell on the ground in a ’downed’ state.

The second guy rushed at me and managed to land a punch on my arm, lowering my health by a fraction but it did launch me back a few feet which gave me the chance to reload.

He tried to attack again but I ducked and fired at least half of the magazine into his chest, reducing his health to zero and ’downing’ him as well.

The last guy stared at me and cursed, "Fucking hacker!"

No dude, you guys just suck.

I emptied the magazine and killed his avatar. With him being the last of his team, the other two immediately ’died’ as their avatars keeled over and disappeared into light particles.

Hmph, that would teach you guys to think you can just jump on a solo guy.
