What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 294: Difference In Treatment In The Same Rift

  • Next Chapter

I wasn’t really sure what to expect after getting those awakened people involved in our little plan but now we have them inside the command tent with the map that we retrieved spread out on the table.

Just for the record... I ended up taking the two Mortal Goddesses into my Soul Space and we had a really long session in there... A session where I was constantly pounding one of them at any given time and all three of us just eating from the fruits that were grown through Siti’s powers to keep our stamina replenished at all times.

It was basically an entire night of eating and fucking... Which I have to admit... It wouldn’t be the first time it happened to me...

If the others noticed the two Mortal Goddesses were glowing with satisfaction in the morning, no one mentioned anything.

Well... Olivia definitely noticed and I could tell she wasn’t too happy about the fact that I left her out of it... Which couldn’t be helped considering where we were so she had to join the Vanguards in making sure our perimeter was secure with my Guardians.

I’ll make it up to her later I suppose.

I turned towards the two Mortal Goddesses, "So what’s the plan?"

I might be leading the group yesterday but it’s because I was letting them get a feel of the rift as their guide. But since we’ve handed this over to them, they should be the ones making decisions about this rift instead.

Diana pointed at the location we were at yesterday, the one that had the marking of the house with a skull on it.

"I believe we can safely say that this symbol basically means that there’s a hideout for the people with powers in that area."

Looking at the rest of the map, it was the only place with that specific symbol so that means that place was the only one in this area.

Funny that there were two other survivor hideouts close by and they somehow never met.

Khar frowned at the map, "Where did you get this map?"

"We got this from another survivor hideout that we found. Well... Former hideout. The place was already overrun with Anomalies and its former inhabitants have already transformed into one of them."

He narrowed his eyes at the map before turning to look at his group with what I guessed was alarm.

I raised an eyebrow, "Is something wrong?"

"No... It’s just... If this was marked on the map... That means someone else found our city. But I suppose since you said that it was found in a hideout that was already overrun, there shouldn’t be any problems."

Ah... I didn’t think about that but I guess if there were those unpowered survivors who found an entire city of these powered survivors and that they were enslaving their own people... They might try to attack them.

Though I wonder if they would even be capable of attempting such a thing because... No offense... I think in a straight fight, Khar is enough to just wipe out the entire group of survivors if he wanted to.

Oh well, it’s not my problem anyway...

Siti turned her attention back to the map, tracing along the road past the three Dukes’ city and further down the road.

Along that side of the map, there were even more markers that were just simple shapes spread out around the area.

I was suspecting the shapes to mean something along the lines of where this particular survivor group had moved through or scavenged before they got to the town. Maybe it might even be hidden caches that they have either stored or found along the way.

"We can continue down the path here to see what these symbols are today. Assuming that we would need to face a large army of them in the inevitable fight against the Commander Class Anomaly, we should clear out as much space as we can for our own forces to manoeuvre."

Diana then turned to nod at me, "Will you be joining us?"

That was a legitimate question since, as I had mentioned, this rift was technically no longer under my jurisdiction now.

I could still support them but I was not required to do so, which meant that I could just leave things to them to deal with from now on and even just go back to my tower.

Well... It’s not like I have anything else to do anyway and I’m already quite invested in this World so I might as well just stay. But for today, I kind of want to go back and check on that city of theirs since Maylene was interested in getting some samples and stuff that she could bring back to research on.

"I’ll teleport you guys to the road before I go to the city at least," I told them casually.

Diana and Siti nodded gratefully at me, since that would mean they didn’t have to travel there by themselves.

Everyone then left the command tent to make their own preparations and I decided to go and check on the other survivors to see how they were faring.

After all... They did come here after accepting my invitation so it would be rude of me to just dump them there and forget about them.

Once again, I approached their camp with Dan, letting the rest of my Guardians wait a distance away and out of sight.

The guards were still there, though this was a different group compared to the ones we saw that day. But their hostile gazes still remained the same at least.

I walked up to them and the one on the right spoke up before I could even say anything, "What do you want? Get lost if you don’t have anything to do here."

I frowned slightly behind my mask, "Really? I can’t even check on you guys to make sure you’re doing ok?"

"We don’t need mutants on our fucking doorstep. Get lost."

Dan crossed his arms, "Eh... That’s not nice. We’re even feeding you guys leh. At least show a little respect."

The guard spat on the ground beside him, "The only respect I would give to a mutant is when they’re dead."

Damn... The hate really goes deep huh?

I mean... After seeing how the cities function under those survivors who have awakened powers, I can at least understand it somewhat... If these unpowered survivors had been caught by Khar and the others, they would basically just be enslaved and used as a power source.

"You know we aren’t actually from your World, right?" I reminded him.

"I don’t care. You’re also one of the mutants just from another world. Heck, you’re even worse because of that. Get out of our faces."

I gestured towards them, "You know... If you hate us so much, you don’t have to stay here right?"

The guard scoffed, "Typical mutant. First you drag us here and the moment you find us inconvenient, you kick us out like trash. Why am I not surprised?"

I know this guy is just trying to guilt trip me with that but... There was something else that caught my attention instead.

I narrowed my eyes at the rest of their camp as I realised there seemed to be fewer people around now.

"Where... Where did half your camp go?" I asked.

The guards seemed to freeze up for a moment before tensing at me like they were expecting me to fight them or something.

But the guy I had been talking to quickly scoffed at me, "Like you were complaining earlier, we decided not to keep using your supplies so we decided to go out and scavenge for our own. We still had some of our supplies left behind in our previous hideout so we formed a group to return there to get our things."

That surprised me somewhat, "Wait, you guys went out? On your own? I mean... I’m already impressed you guys manage to get all the way here on your own while there’s still those Ano... Those monsters still out there prowling around."

The guard scoffed, "We’ve been surviving in this world longer than you. We know how to survive in this world and deal with them better than you."

I highly doubt that’s the case but... Whatever makes them happy I guess?

I left them to their own devices and went over to the centaur guy to make sure that what they said was true.

Upon receiving my questioning, he nodded quickly, "Yes, Divine One... They... Requested that they be allowed to go outside to scavenge. I did not see a reason to stop them... They left quite early in the morning."

The way that he said ’requested’ made me believe they probably threatened and made a big fuss about it until he agreed to it.

Oh well... Like I said, it’s not my problem so they can do what they like I guess...

I just find it ironic how there’s such a big difference between how Khar’s group treats us and how this groups treats us...
