What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?
Chapter 280: Briefing The Mortal Goddesses
We had a quick dip in the bath which... Led to another session in there where I pounded each of them inside the bath before we got out.
I am so glad I had the foresight to tell my sister to wait somewhere else now...
I finally managed to get them to gather in the dining room where I made tea for all of them while I prepared to fill them in on the details of the new rift.
Diana let out a contented sigh as she sipped on her tea, "Ahhh... This is the life... A good, rough fucking followed by some nice tea."
I rolled my eyes at her, "Don’t get used to it."
Diana smirked at me, "Oh come on... Maybe I can just move here instead. Just live here permanently. It’s not like I need to keep staying back at my place anyway."
"That might cause an international incident..." I pointed out, refilling her tea cup.
"Meh... Who’s gonna complain? You? Siti? Pretty sure you two are the only ones whose complaints actually matter. Anyone else shouldn’t even think about complaining at all~"
"Ahem... Your Guardians?"
"Pfft~ They work for me, not the other way around. If I say I want to stay on some deserted island off the coast, no one’s going to stop me either~"
Siti sipped on her own tea, "I won’t go so far as to say that I will move here... But I wouldn’t mind having extended vacations here from time to time."
"You’re already treating this like your vacation home I see..." I sighed.
Diana then turned to me and puffed her cheeks at me, "We don’t have a choice, do we? You said that you would come and visit us so that you can set up your teleportation doors! But yet you never did! So we have to come to you instead!"
I grimaced a little, "Right... Sorry about that. But... Just deciding to fly overseas is not a decision that I can just make on the spot, you know?"
Both of them turned to me with a confused look on their faces.
"Why not?"
"Yeah. It’s pretty simple, isn’t it? Especially for you?"
I shook my head, "No, no... If I want to fly somewhere, I need to prepare, you know? Especially since everyone is so busy right now..."
Diana raised an eyebrow, "Why? What do you even need to prepare? Just grab a bag or something and then hop on your plane and go."
I blinked at her, "It’s not that simple ok? I need to pack clothes and get my things in order before leaving... With how everyone around me is also busy setting this tower and also the new departments up, I will be disrupting their schedule if I were to just up and leave."
"Pffft... The only schedule that is important is yours, Qing. Everyone’s schedules should revolve around yours, not the other way around. I guess you’re really still not used to the idea that you are a Mortal God, are you?"
I shrugged, "I guess not."
For me, at least even while I was still a Vanguard, travelling overseas was a plan that had to be made at least a few weeks ahead of time.
It was especially the case for me since my family didn’t like the idea of me being a Vanguard to begin with so I had to make sure to let them all know about any overseas trips to participate in a rift expedition ahead of time or else my family would make a really big fuss.
So yeah... I’m not used to just impromptu overseas trips and just getting on the first flight somewhere without at least some plans already set up.
Siti then gestured to me, "It’s even better for you since all you need is a one way ticket and you can just teleport back here once you’ve gone there at least once, right?"
That’s true...
I cleared my throat, "Anyway... I guess I’ll check with my Guardians after this thing is done. For now, I think we should talk about the rift that the both of you are here for. First things first... I would like to confirm that this rift would fulfil our obligation to provide a rift for both of your countries."
Diana waved her hand half heartedly, "Yeah, yeah... You don’t really need to sweat the details, Qing. You’re really such a stickler for the rules."
Siti nodded, "If it makes you feel better... Yes, we recognise this as the fulfilment of your obligations."
Ok, that’s good.
They can say all they want about me not needing to worry about the contract terms but I’ve seen how we were taken advantage of through such things before and I would not want to leave it to chance for other countries to take advantage of us again.
Diana leaned on her hand, "So... Tell us about the rift. Or better yet, don’t. I don’t mind just having the three of us lounge on that really nice couch of yours or maybe heading inside that soul space and having more fun."
I ignored her last suggestion and pulled out a copy of the map that Maylene had drawn up that showed the area around our current base camp in that rift.
It was a more updated map after the scouting team had sent out drones as well to take pictures of the surrounding area and Maylene made use of them to draw this up.
It could be said that it’s the most accurate map that exists in that rift right now, at least in the sense of reflecting the surrounding landscape.
We had another copy which we used to also mark out all the locations that the survivors had previously marked on their map so that we could figure out what those markings meant, but we decided to keep that map for ourselves instead.
"This is what my Guardian managed to make during the scouting expedition last time, go ahead and take a look."
The two girls pressed themselves to my sides as they looked at the map sprawled out in front of them, though I’m not sure if they were paying more attention to the map or to me since their hands were basically just roaming around my arm and tickling me.
"Hmm? This looks like a modern city layout, doesn’t it?" Diana commented.
I turned to raise an eyebrow at her, "Didn’t I tell you that this World was similar to ours? Their tech is also quite similar in some places as well."
I deliberately left out the fact that they had apparently managed to make laser weapons because we plan to monopolise that if we could.
It’s not that I don’t trust these two to keep a secret but... I don’t think their Guardians would keep quiet about it and if they sent their own countries’ agents over here, they would definitely report that.
I pointed at the base camp, "This is where we’ve set up for now. The city is mostly cleared but we found a variant of the Anomalies that react to smells and not to noise so there could still be a few of these things hanging around inside the city since we’ve yet to do a complete sweep. They’re not dangerous to us or our Guardians but I think a normal Vanguard would be taken out by these things one on one."
To add to that, I pulled out several pictures that the scouting team had taken and placed them on the table, each of them showing the Anomalies that we have encountered so far.
"Mmm... They look hideous," Siti commented.
"That’s basically all Anomalies..." Diana pointed out helpfully.
Siti nodded in agreement before turning back to me, "What about the survivors you mentioned?"
I pointed to the town and the estate on the map, "So far we’ve found two groups of survivors here and here. This group now knows about the fact that we came from another world and where our base camp is located. This group doesn’t know about it yet. Like I told you two over the call, they don’t seem to welcome people with powers and call people like us mutants. I can’t blame them for that since these mutants of theirs seem to have caused quite a bit of trouble in their World when the Anomalies first appeared."
"Hmm... I’m assuming there should also be survivor groups that are composed only of these mutants as well right?" Siti asked.
"I’m not sure. If there are, we haven’t found any yet," I admitted, though I was now thinking back on the symbols we found on the other map if any of them meant a mutant hideout.
Diana clucked her tongue at the map, "I’m guessing that we also don’t know where the Gatekeeper is?"
"They mentioned that the Anomalies first appeared at a place called Dark Mountain Beyond, so I assume it’s probably somewhere around that area, probably."
"What kind of name is that?"
"Don’t look at me, I’m not the one that named it..."
Siti hummed, "I suppose we should let our Guardians in on this as well, shouldn’t we?"
"Are the both of you going to behave while they’re here?" I asked.
Both women looked up at me with a knowing smirk on their faces.
Great...
