Chapter 338: Chapter 193: The Battle of Qingyu

"Senior Sister Yue said she’ll be fine, and I believe her..."

"But, just in case, if she really does run into danger later, I hope you can step in and save her."

"Of course, I’ll support you."

Senior Sister Yue had said that the Huaque Array should have already been deciphered by the Major Sects. He wasn’t sure if that was true, but if Senior Sister Yue was in danger, he wouldn’t hesitate to act immediately.

’No matter what, I can’t let anything happen to Senior Sister Yue. She’s the one who said she would protect me until I achieve the Dao. If something happens to her, who will protect me on my path?’

But if the Huaque Array really was flawed like Senior Sister Yue said, he was worried that an accident might occur when he tried to intervene, preventing him from saving her in time.

That was why he had Zhang Zhentian take Ye Shan’s sword.

He figured that since Zhang Zhentian was so confident, even if he couldn’t unleash the full power of the Divinity Transformation Middle Stage with Ye Shan’s sword, there was still a good chance he could deliver a strike that came incredibly close to that level.

If used for a rescue, it wasn’t without a chance of success.

Zhang Zhentian was taken aback and was about to say more, but Xu Ran cut him off.

"Have faith in Senior Sister Yue. After all, she was an existence that even the former Senior Brother Ye Shan had to strive to catch up to."

"This..." Zhang Zhentian hesitated for a moment before nodding firmly. "I understand, Senior Brother. I’ll listen to you. If Senior Sister Yue is in danger, I will act immediately."

Xu Ran nodded lightly, then warned him with a serious expression, "Be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to you."

A smile spread across Zhang Zhentian’s face. "Don’t worry, Senior Brother. I am the Evergreen Sword Saint. I won’t fall here."

After speaking, he silently stepped forward and looked at the longsword Ye Shu was holding out.

His gaze narrowed, staring intently at the sword once wielded by Sword Dao Ye Shan, and a strange emotion welled up inside him.

The sword looked quite ordinary, not some particularly precious Magical Treasure. But because of its former master, it seemed anything but ordinary.

Back when Ye Shan had fallen into obscurity, he had resolved to surpass him.

’But who would have thought that today, I’d have to use his sword to fight an enemy? This must be some kind of ill-fated bond.’

With that thought, Zhang Zhentian chuckled softly and shook his head. ’Let bygones be bygones. In any case, Senior Brother Ye Shan has already reached a height others can only dream of. There’s no shame in using his sword.’

He slowly reached out and grasped the hilt of the Ye Shan Sword. But as the longsword passed from Ye Shu’s hand to his, it let out a hum, and the blade trembled slightly.

Immediately after, the once incomparably sharp blade, which had been gleaming with a cold light, was suddenly covered in rust, like a piece of scrap iron.

Seeing this, Zhang Zhentian was stunned. "What’s happening?"

Xu Ran, standing to the side, also saw what happened. He was silent for a moment before sighing and saying, "It seems you are not fated to wield this sword. Give it to me."

As he spoke, he took the longsword from Zhang Zhentian’s hand. The moment it was in his grasp, the rust vanished, and it returned to its previous state.

Seeing this, Zhang Zhentian gritted his teeth. ’Senior Brother is being too tactful. What does he mean, "not fated to wield this sword"? I’m not an idiot. It’s obvious the Ye Shan Sword is refusing to be used by me.’

At this thought, Zhang Zhentian clenched his fists. ’Fine, Ye Shan, I, the Evergreen Sword Saint, will remember this. I don’t care what heights you’ve reached. In the future, I, the Evergreen Sword Saint Zhang Zhentian, will definitely surpass you!’

A powerful fighting spirit erupted in Zhang Zhentian’s eyes.

He then said to Xu Ran, "It’s fine. Even without the Ye Shan Sword, I can still save Senior Sister Yue."

Xu Ran looked at his determined expression, paused for a moment, then nodded. "Then you be careful."

He didn’t say anything to stop Zhang Zhentian, not wanting to deal him another blow.

Then, both of them looked up at the empty space beyond the sect’s gates. A figure in white, ethereal as an Immortal, was slowly ascending into the sky, heading toward Wuya Daoist Monarch.

"Yue Qingyu, Sect Leader of the Profound Pure Sect, greets Elder Wuya."

After appearing, Yue Qingyu raised her hands and bowed in salute to Wuya Daoist Monarch.

Regardless of whether he had come with malicious intent, he hadn’t attacked immediately upon his arrival, instead giving the Profound Pure Sect some time. For that, she owed him a courtesy, so a salute was proper.

Wuya Daoist Monarch had white hair but a youthful face. His features were handsome, and he exuded a heroic aura, giving him the distinct air of a lofty, enlightened master.

With his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fell upon Yue Qingyu as he spoke slowly.

"This Monarch has heard of you. You’re hailed as a peerless daughter of heaven, on par with Ye Shan. It is said that before Ye Shan rose to prominence, you even had a slight edge over him. Even now, you are still considered the greatest talent in the entire Eastern Domain after Ye Shan, outside of the Upper Three Sects."

Hearing this, Yue Qingyu replied with a calm expression, "You praise me too much, Elder."

Wuya Daoist Monarch nodded slightly, then let out a soft sigh and said:

"With your talent, achieving Divinity Transformation in the future is a sure thing. Perhaps it won’t be long before your cultivation surpasses my own. Wouldn’t it be better to seek revenge on this Monarch then? Why have you appeared now?"

His gaze lowered slightly, and he spoke in a somewhat melancholy tone, "This Monarch truly does not wish to personally extinguish a genius of our Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm. Unfortunately, now that you have appeared, it would not be right for this Monarch to let you leave."

Yue Qingyu raised a hand slightly. "Your mercy is appreciated, Elder. However, as the Sect Leader, I bear the fate of my Sect upon my shoulders. I cannot retreat."
