Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers

Chapter 664: Ice Crystal Spider Fiend MVP, Taking Down Mossa

  • Next Chapter

Yu Yuan hid within the Shadow Dimension, watching the battle between the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend and the Mossa train.

He was thoroughly entertained.

"So a train has an attack form like this. If this thing cut into our convoy on the battlefield, it'd be a real problem."

Heavy firepower assault, sustained machine gun attacks, melee blades converting the train's momentum into damage.

Add the red shield coating the train's surface.

At this moment, the Mossa train was terrifyingly powerful in both offense and defense.

Mossa must have poured considerable effort into matching this attack configuration of hers.

On the battlefield.

Mossa detected the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's elemental core and immediately shifted her attack strategy.

No more attacking multiple points.

Heavy machine guns and melee blades delivered sustained damage.

The Mechanical Cannon re-entered its charging state.

Just as the locomotive made another full loop, passing directly in front of the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend.

The Mechanical Cannon opened fire.

All Mechanical Cannons had only one target: the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's chest.

That was where the elemental core was located.

Boom boom boom.

Blue light pillars bloomed across the ice field in succession.

Hiss.

The Ice Crystal Spider Fiend sensed the crisis of death.

It let out a screech.

The squid tentacles in its mouthparts glowed blue, and an ice storm shrouded its body, yet it still couldn't block the Mossa train's attacks.

Its chest, which had just recovered, was blasted open into a massive crater by the blue light pillar once more.

Its body lost balance under the bombardment, unable to remain standing.

Then the second light pillar came right behind.

This one didn't strike the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's chest, but landed on its abdomen.

The Ice Crystal Spider Fiend drove its spider legs into the ground, and a cluster of ice rapidly extended outward beyond the encirclement.

Just as the third Mechanical Cannon blast shattered two of the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's legs.

Blue light flickered across the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's body, and it vanished from the Mossa train's encirclement.

It reappeared two hundred meters away, at the location where the ice cluster had extended.

It was the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's signature displacement skill: Ice Cluster Flash.

"Damn it!"

Mossa cursed as she watched the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend disappear.

She hastily maneuvered the train to pursue it.

And checked her current energy reserves: 71.3%. Still sufficient.

The Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's first move after escaping danger wasn't to flee.

Instead, it opened its mouthparts wide, aimed at the incoming Mossa train, its gaze ferocious.

The squid tentacles blazed with blue light.

With a screeching cry.

Its chest also radiated a bright glow, and its two remaining spider legs plunged fiercely into the ice again.

The ice field rumbled without cease.

At the midsection of the Mossa train, an iceberg erupted from the ground.

It lifted the train dozens of meters into the air.

Then came a second iceberg, a third iceberg.

Three icebergs hoisted the Mossa train over a hundred meters into the sky.

Then the icebergs disintegrated in midair, turning into fragments of ice that, swept up by the ice storm, formed an ice crystal tornado that swirled around the train.

The sharp ice shards, empowered by the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend, were in no way inferior to those alloy blades.

An eerie screeching sound of metal being scraped echoed across the ice field.

Bang.

The train plummeted from high altitude and crashed onto the ice.

The red barrier could resist the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's attacks, but it couldn't eliminate the damage from the train's fall.

The gunners and cannon operators inside had already lost control of their bodies when the train was launched into the air.

All they could do was cling to the safety straps binding them, praying to survive this assault.

Now, falling from over a hundred meters, under the tremendous impact.

Quite a few people died on the spot.

The injured made up more than half.

The train's overall structure also suffered a certain degree of damage.

Inside the conductor's cabin, warning alarms blared in rapid succession.

"Damn it, damn it! This thing can even alter the terrain?! How can a Silver-tier be this powerful?"

Mossa grumbled, but her hands and feet moved quickly across the control console.

Focusing everything on controlling the train.

Mossa no longer had any intention of fighting the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend.

The previous moment had been the only chance to kill that damn spider.

The opportunity was gone, and she had thoroughly enraged this big bastard.

Attacking the elemental core again was now impossible, and the train had sustained considerable damage from the last assault.

The only way to survive was to escape as fast as possible and regroup with Ladiz.

The Mossa train began to move.

But there was no way the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend would let it escape.

Forcibly regrowing its spider legs and restoring its mobility, it didn't even bother recovering its half-mutilated body, coming straight to the train's side.

The squid tentacles in its mouthparts wrapped around one of the carriages.

Blue light bloomed, and a tremendous suction force emerged from its mouthparts, beginning to devour the heat within the train.

The glow grew deeper and deeper, and the carriage it had wrapped was rapidly overtaken and covered by frost.

Two seconds later, that carriage had turned into a solid block of ice, its cold even lower than the temperature of the ice field.

That was the temperature of Absolute Zero.

All life inside was frozen to death, and even the Molten Element Blocks had all turned black.

The thermal energy was absorbed cleanly by the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend.

Replenished with energy, the Spider Fiend's mangled body rapidly recovered.

It turned to the next carriage.

Mossa detected what was happening to the carriages. She realized that her control over the train was gradually slipping away.

One carriage after another lost contact with the locomotive, going completely dark on the Virtual Light Screen.

Mossa was dumbfounded.

"How is this possible?! The barrier wasn't even broken!"

She couldn't possibly imagine that the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend wasn't attacking her at all, but simply devouring heat.

Heat. Temperature. That was the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's most delicious food.

As more and more carriages turned into ice sculptures.

The fear in Mossa's heart could no longer be suppressed. She decisively severed the connection between the locomotive and the carriages.

The mechanical serpent locomotive, under the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend's indifferent gaze, vanished into the ice storm in a flash.

But strangely, the Ice Crystal Spider Fiend didn't give chase like before.

It only watched coldly.

In the Shadow Dimension.

Yu Yuan watched the locomotive vanish into the ice storm, silently offering Mossa his condolences.

The reason was simple: the direction she was heading was clearly the same way she had come.

And in that direction, if Yu Yuan remembered correctly, tens of thousands of ice crystal spiders were still heading this way.

"Let's see... those ice crystal spiders should be arriving about now, right?"

No sooner had Yu Yuan spoken.

Than the sound of battle echoed from the distance.

When Yu Yuan arrived, what he saw was the mechanical serpent head being swarmed and besieged by a horde of ice crystal spiders.

Without the weapon support and energy supply of the massive train body.

Relying on just a locomotive, Mossa was clearly no match for this swarm of ice crystal spiders.

The barrier on the locomotive's surface shattered violently as its energy was depleted.

Although the Mechanical Armor boasted formidable defensive power, under the relentless barrage of attacks, it too became pockmarked and battered beyond recognition.

Just as the Mechanical Armor was breached by the ice crystal spiders, a brilliant flash of light burst from within the locomotive.

The ice crystal spiders struck by that light melted and dispersed on the spot.

Mossa, clad in red armor, leaped out of the locomotive and fled outward.

Hiss, hiss.

The ice crystal spiders leaped one after another, lunging at her, giving off quite the Star Wars vibe.

"Is this where I die?" Mossa was tackled to the ground by several ice crystal spiders, feeling the impact of claws striking her armor, her heart filled with despair.

Just as she was at her lowest point.

The corner of her eye caught a rift appearing in the void.

Before she could react, a flash of light passed by, and she had vanished from the midst of the ice crystal spider swarm.

The rift dissipated as well.

The Ice Crystal Spider Fiend, having just finished healing its wounds and arriving on the scene, sensed that aura which had appeared and disappeared once more.

It let out a furious screech.
