Chapter 820: Chapter 819: Standing Up for the Granddaughter-in-law (5)

Bella Acker saw the woman in the portrait and immediately thought of Damian Sinclair.

It turned out that Damian Sinclair’s features resembled his grandmother’s even more, but their temperaments were entirely different.

The woman was graceful and gentle, dignified in every move she made.

Whereas Damian Sinclair had an indifferent expression, appearing aloof and hard to approach due to his sparse display of emotions, with an underlying ferocity in his eyes when angry.

Bella Acker lightly brushed her fingertips over the woman’s lowered eyebrows and eyes through the plastic, saying, "So President Sinclair’s good looks come from his grandmother."

"Hahaha, indeed," the old man laughed heartily, looking at the woman in the portrait with eyes full of lingering memories, speaking in a softened voice. "That rascal has always resembled his grandmother since he was young, and she spoiled him."

The old man paused, choosing not to continue.

Bella Acker continued flipping through the photos, watching the woman age gradually, yet her gentle disposition remained, evident from even the slightest smile, showing her good upbringing.

The carefully preserved photographs included ones with the grandmother and the old man, with Damian Sinclair, and with Mr. Sinclair and others, one after another. By the time Damian Sinclair was in elementary school, there were only photos of him alone, with no trace of his grandmother.

Bella Acker flipped through a few more pages and still found nothing.

She stopped, feeling a bit melancholic. Did the grandmother pass away when Damian Sinclair was in elementary school?

"Old man..." Bella Acker looked up, her eyes filled with an irrepressible sadness.

Just by looking at the photos, she knew that if the grandmother were still alive, she would dearly love this old man.

The old man sighed, "It’s alright, it’s been so many years. Her health had deteriorated those years, and she couldn’t recover. I was mentally prepared when she passed." Being mentally prepared was one thing, but watching someone deeply loved pass away was another. And at that time, the Sinclair family’s eldest grandson was tragically driven to suicide...

Bella Acker closed the album and set it aside, crouching beside the old man, gently holding his hand and comforting him, "Grandmother surely felt that meeting you, spending her life with you, was the happiest thing. She had no regrets."

"Yes, she had no regrets," the old man’s eyes unknowingly reddened, and he grasped Bella Acker’s hand in return, choking up, "but she was so heartless, leaving me alone like that. She had no idea how much I missed her when I couldn’t see her."

The depth of love determines how decades later, just mentioning it still evokes a flood of longing and love, instantly bringing tears to one’s eyes.

Bella Acker was moved, her eyes reddening.

"Young Acker, don’t wait until you want to cherish something before it’s too late to regret. Our lives are too fragile, they can’t withstand turmoil," the old man said, patting her hand with earnest advice.

"Yes, I understand," Bella Acker nodded.

"Old man, Young Master Sterling has arrived," a servant entered the living room and whispered.

"Don’t let him in," the old man immediately said. "Just bring Talia home."

"But it’s raining outside, and Young Master Sterling didn’t bring an umbrella. If he catches a cold..." the servant tried to plead on behalf of Damian Sinclair but was sternly interrupted by the old man before finishing.

"That’s that rascal’s own doing. Don’t let him in, and don’t give him an umbrella. If he wants to stand outside in the rain, then let him!"
