Chapter 769: Chapter 768: The Ruse (Part 3)

By the time the event in Harrowden ended, it was around nine in the evening, and then everyone involved in the promotion went out for dinner together.

When Bella Acker returned to the hotel, it was close to midnight, and she was so exhausted that she didn’t even want to move a finger.

Judy Zimmerman found her some pajamas and said, "Bella, today was exhausting. Take a bath and rest early; we have to catch a flight to the next city early tomorrow morning."

"Okay, you rest early too." Bella forced a smile, took a deep breath, and finally supported herself with the couch arm to stand up.

"Yeah, good night." Judy went to her own room next door.

Bella first tied up her hair, removed her makeup, washed her face, and then grabbed her pajamas to take a shower.

To save time, she also took her toothpaste and toothbrush into the bathroom, brushing her teeth while showering.

After a warm shower, a lot of the tiredness in her body was relieved.

Drying her hair with a towel, Bella was about to find a hairdryer when she heard a knock on the door.

"Judy, did you forget something..." Bella opened the door with a smile, only to see Damian Sinclair instead of Judy.

"Why aren’t you answering the phone?" Damian Sinclair, holding his phone, looked down at her with a bit of a commanding presence due to his height.

Bella was momentarily taken aback and instinctively replied, "I was just in the shower and didn’t hear it."

"Have you eaten?" Damian asked.

"I have."

The two stood there for a moment—one inside the door, one outside—until Bella realized what was happening. "Sorry, Mr. Sinclair, I was just about to sleep. If you don’t have anything pressing, then I’ll head to bed."

"I do." Damian raised a bag in his left hand. "I brought you dinner."

"But I’ve already eaten..."

Before she could finish, Damian had already slid past her into the room.

Bella stood at the door for a moment before closing it and walking back in.

Damian had already started taking things out of the bag, placing them one by one on the coffee table.

While setting out the dishes and utensils, Damian said, "When you called me this morning, I was in a meeting. Kingston plans to open a branch in Moridia, so there will be a lot to handle before everything is on track."

Bella was taken aback, not expecting his first act upon arriving to be explaining this.

So, he really was in a meeting and not avoiding talking to her on purpose.

Awkwardly, Bella tucked the long strands of hair that had fallen to her cheeks behind her ear. "You were in a meeting then; taking a call wouldn’t have been appropriate, would it?"

Damian finally looked up at her, then went to the room’s minibar to get a bottle of expensive wine, briefly inspected it, and brought over two wine glasses. "Aren’t you worried when I don’t answer your call?" he asked while pouring wine.

"I don’t have any right to worry," Bella muttered softly.

Damian didn’t catch her words, "What?"

Bella’s ears reddened, "Nothing."

Damian glanced at her again, then sat on the three-seater couch. "Come eat; it’s all still warm."

"But I’ve already..." Seeing the delicious-looking dishes, Bella sighed, "Alright, I didn’t eat enough."

During such gatherings, everyone was busy drinking and didn’t pay much attention to eating.

Actually, Bella hadn’t eaten well; she was just too tired and it was too late, so when she got back to the hotel, all she wanted was sleep. That’s why she hadn’t looked for food.

She picked up a spoon and started with a bit of the hot soup.

The moment the soup touched her lips, she realized the taste was very familiar.

"Did you make this?"
