Chapter 743: Chapter 742: Capturing Her Heart (26)
Bella spoke somewhat smugly, "But I only hit her in places where it can’t be seen, so it just looks like I’m the one who got it worse."
Judy chuckled with a bit of helplessness, "Just to comfort me, come on, let me put some ointment on your scalp first."
After a chaotic scene at the set, filming resumed orderly, and Director Simons strictly prohibited spreading today’s incident.
That night after the night shoot ended, Bella returned to the hotel, checked herself over, and indeed found a few spots bruised from pinching.
Shirley Caldwell had behaved like a mad dog biting randomly, who knows what her problem was.
"Ouch." Bella pressed on the bruise on her arm, hissing from the pain.
"Buzz buzz buzz!"
The phone next to her began to vibrate, Bella looked at the time on the wall, it was past ten in the evening, and she put down the cotton swab she was using to apply medicine and picked up the phone.
The caller ID showed Aunt Rhodes.
"Hello, Aunt Rhodes."
"Bella, I’m so sorry, did Shirley cause trouble for you today?" Aunt Rhodes asked nervously from the other end.
"Yes." This matter originated here, Bella didn’t intend to hide it, "She said I took a house from you and wants me to give her three million. After she returns home, show her the property deed to prevent any unnecessary misunderstandings."
"Bella, I’m really sorry, I didn’t expect this to happen." Aunt Rhodes apologized sincerely, "Shirley has been spoiled since she was young, she has a strong sense of possession and competitiveness, but in truth... her intentions aren’t bad."
Bella frowned, "What does she think? That I stole her mother’s love?"
"Bella..." Aunt Rhodes paused, continuing, "I’ll explain everything to her when she comes back. Bella, truly sorry, I just wanted to make up for what I owe you, to love you well, I never thought this issue would bring you trouble, it was poorly considered."
Bella sighed, "Aunt Rhodes, as I’ve said before, given our current situation, the best way to get along is actually not to interfere with each other. I won’t be involved in your life, you should love your family well, isn’t that better?"
Aunt Rhodes seemed taken aback, "Bella, are you... are you angry?"
"Shouldn’t I be angry?" Bella suddenly felt like laughing coldly; initially she hadn’t thought Aunt Rhodes wanted to buy her a house, so what if Shirley caused trouble, at worst they could just have another fight if they didn’t get along.
But what Aunt Rhodes just said, in and out of words, truly favored Shirley.
Yes, she can understand. After all, Shirley was raised by Aunt Rhodes since childhood; not just a birth mother and daughter, even ordinary foster mothers and adoptive daughters, twenty years of raising would still foster affection. And apart from a few meetings years ago, Bella and Aunt Rhodes aren’t exactly familiar with each other.
She doesn’t know what Aunt Rhodes does now, what kind of family she has, nor does Aunt Rhodes know Bella’s situation; aside from blood ties, they don’t really know more than common acquaintances.
Therefore, right from the beginning Bella knew that Aunt Rhodes wanted to treat her well, aside from some maternal love, it was mostly guilt-driven compensation.
There was silence on the other end of the phone, Bella softened her tone, "Aunt Rhodes, I won’t be living in that house. Once I’ve found a place and settled down in Creston, I’ll let you know the address, you can bring Bonnie over to visit. As for this reunion idea, I think... we should just forget it."
