Chapter 731: Chapter 730: Conquering Her Heart (14)

Bella looked at her half-brother with mixed feelings in her heart.

Aunt Rhodes held Bonnie’s hand and softly asked, "Bella, I have something to tell you. Can we talk alone?"

Seeing her mother like this, even though she hadn’t planned to reconcile, Bella still felt uncomfortable.

After all, now she’s a mother too and can easily understand a mother’s emotions.

"Okay." Bella nodded and turned to say, "Godmother, please take Talia and Ethan to the dining area first. I’ll join you soon."

"Alright, we’ll wait for you." Sharon Cheney smiled and nodded at Aunt Rhodes before leaving with Ethan and the others.

The little girl looked back at Aunt Rhodes and the giggling Bonnie, and asked Sharon, "Grandma, who are they?"

"Grandma’s not sure either." Sharon shook her head.

The little girl turned to ask Damian, "Daddy, do you know?"

Damian did know a bit, but it wasn’t appropriate to explain such matters to a little girl, so he simply said, "That’s Mommy’s friend."

"Oh." The little girl looked back at the giggling Bonnie and thought the brother seemed a bit pitiable.

Ethan said, "I used to play with Bonnie. His brain got damaged, and his intelligence is stuck at the level of a two or three-year-old. It hasn’t improved over the years."

"Isn’t that so sad?" The little girl asked, "Can’t they ask a doctor for help?"

"Bonnie’s family is well-off; surely they’ve consulted many good doctors. But seeing his condition, it seems there’s not much they can do." Ethan sighed as well.

When they were younger, playing together, they didn’t think much of it. But now that he’s grown up and understands more, Bonnie’s intelligence is still the same as before.

This inevitably stirs some emotions in the heart.

After others left, Bella turned and said, "Aunt Rhodes, let’s go to that tea café for a chat."

"Okay." Aunt Rhodes nodded repeatedly, holding Bonnie’s hand and saying, "Bonnie, call her Sister."

Bella paused almost imperceptibly, realizing Aunt Rhodes didn’t ask Bonnie to call her Bella Sister but just Sister... what could this mean?

"Sister." Although Bonnie’s intelligence was still that of a two or three-year-old, he obediently followed Aunt Rhodes’ instructions and greeted her. Moreover, because of the Ultraman incident, he seemed less scared than before.

"Let’s go to the tea café." Bella smiled, and Aunt Rhodes took Bonnie along to the hotel’s tea café.

It was morning, and there weren’t many people in the tea café.

The three of them went inside and chose a seat by the window.

Aunt Rhodes took out a well-worn Ultraman from her bag and said, "Bonnie, Mommy is going to talk to Sister. Can you play by yourself without making noise?"

"Okay." Bonnie nodded, holding the Ultraman as he played quietly beside them.

The scene reminded Bella of a few years ago when she had a coincidental meeting with Aunt Rhodes at a café. At that time, she was glad to have found an aunt who resembled her mother and hoped she might have found her mother’s sister. Back then, Aunt Rhodes hid everything and just talked to her.

Bonnie was just playing by himself back then too.

Time flew by, and more than five years had passed in the blink of an eye.

Now, seeing her again, the once elegant and reserved woman’s face showed the wear and tear of time; youth had left her.

Bella ordered two cups of black tea and a milk tea, then asked, "Aunt Rhodes, how have you been all these years?"
