Warhammer: The 11th Primarch - The Black Emperor
Chapter 945 - 944: Russ: I Authorize the Use of Phosphex Weapons to Thoroughly Purify This World
Tizca, atop the control spire of the orbital transfer station.
Phosis T'Kar leaned on his silver khopesh, looking up at the golden, gleaming motorcycles diving towards him.
Their curved prows were like eagle's beaks, their sides swept-back wings.
The riders wore golden armor, their helmets topped with crimson plumes streaming like banners.
The underslung autocannons on the bikes spat fire, a hail of rounds raining down.
T'kar raised his left arm, making a grasping motion.
Five jetbikes fell like kites with cut strings. With a flick of his wrist, he sent them crashing into the drop-keeps below.
In the rising smoke, hundreds of 3rd Terran Auxilia warriors, their armor bearing interlocking patterns, were reduced to ash.
"The Custodes, nothing special." T'kar snorted.
He reached out, clenching his fist.
The drop-keeps' mangled steel shells were torn apart.
T'kar swung his arm. The wreckage spun, hurling towards the advancing Custodes.
Boom!
The steel wreckage crashed to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
T'kar frowned, looking down.
Slim, golden-armored forms came into view. Their lower faces were hidden behind silver masks. Tear-drop patterns were tattooed around their black eyes.
"Sisters of Silence." T'kar spat.
His Tutelary, Utipa, swooped down, hovering above him.
"There are more of them." T'kar drew his silver khopesh, turning into the control tower.
He drew his bolt pistol, racing down the stairs.
Flames flashed past his eyes. He saw Captain Auramagma of the 8th Fellowship, wreathed in fire.
The flames spun, a blinding light like a newborn star, striking three shielded Custodes.
Aetheric flame surged, engulfing shields and golden armor.
His Tutelary swelled, letting out an explosive cry.
The three Custodes lunged, their guardian spears thrusting.
The Tutelary circled Auramagma. Flames erupted, forming a wall around him.
Bang, bang, bang!
Guardian spears struck the flame shield with a shriek.
Auramagma's hands shot out, a torrent of flame consuming the three golden-armored warriors.
T'kar raised his arm. A bolt shell screamed, spinning, guided by his telekinesis, striking a Custodes in the head.
His silver khopesh arced. Four sets of golden armor shattered like eggshells.
Utipa circled him. His eyes blazed, slamming Custodes to the ground like straw, crushing them into pulp.
T'kar and Auramagma advanced side-by-side, heedlessly drawing on their Tutelaries' power.
Aetheric energy surged. One Custodes after another fell.
A spear whistled through the air.
Utipa shrieked, circling T'kar.
T'kar raised his khopesh, sweeping it before him.
The Apollonian Spear slammed into his telekinetic shield.
Rumble!
The marble floor shook. The entire control tower trembled.
Auramagma raised his arm, a fiery arrow shooting at the golden armor.
The arrow, striking the golden armor, reflected.
T'kar was about to raise his right arm, to create a shield for Auramagma, when the Apollonian Spear blazed with the brilliance of the sun.
T'kar was forced to swing his arm, Utipa spinning with him.
Rumble!
The ground shook. T'kar had blocked the blinding spear.
Aetheric flame shot towards its creator. A fist's breadth from Auramagma's armor, it shot upward, a pillar of fire, striking Valdor.
Auramagma didn't need to look back. He knew only their father and Kalophis, Magister Templi of the Pyrae Cult, surpassed him in flame.
Perhaps also the Wolves' great enemy, Sanchez.
Boom!
The pillar of fire struck golden armor, forcing Valdor back a step.
T'kar stared into the murderous eyes beneath the black hair. Utipa slowly settled on his head.
A torrent of aetheric energy flooded his body, unleashing its full, violent potential.
He raised his khopesh, bringing it down. Valdor raised his spear to meet it.
Boom!
The wild aetheric force threw Valdor back.
A searing lance shot towards the Apollonian Spear.
"What are you?" Valdor asked, disgusted, looking at Phosis T'kar and Auramagma.
"We… are..." Both shrieks stopped.
Phosis T'kar and Auramagma's bodies boiled. They were consumed by a frenzy of transformation and reshaping.
Auramagma's flesh dissolved like paper. His body blazed, a pillar of fire erupting.
T'kar's organic form and inorganic armor twisted together. Supernatural tearing echoed through the control tower.
"Flesh-Change!" Kalophis's face was pale. He pushed his state of mind to the Ninth Level, suppressing the aetheric fire within.
He looked ahead. Aetheric flame and destructive telekinesis clashed.
Rumble!
The control spire exploded. A pillar of fire shot skyward, clashing with an invisible force, reaching into the heavens.
Kalophis didn't cast a spell. He let himself fall, looking up.
The veil separating reality from the Great Ocean had been torn by the explosion of the two Flesh-Changed Captains.
Aetheric tides surged through the Warp-rift into reality, sweeping across Tizca.
The Deathsworn Wolves of the Morkai Cult, of the 11th Great Company, heard roaring in their ears.
Crimson apparitions flickered past.
The Cataphractii Terminators of the 1st Great Company howled, charging the Great Library.
But the streets turned. The Wolves were guided towards unknown destinations.
The scouting pack of the 8th Great Company, advancing along Tizca's western edge, collapsed, their flesh turning to dust, pouring from their armor.
Leman Russ, moving through the northern sector, through one local battlefield after another, stopped, looking up.
Black lightning flashed in the sky, tearing the heavens.
A foul, cloying stench filled the air. His breath grew thick.
He lowered his gaze, shouting to the Black Slayers of the 7th Great Company.
"The Thousand Sons have defied the Allfather's prohibition. They have forgotten the lessons of the Dark Age."
"They have betrayed the Imperial Truth. They are no longer a brother Legion. They are a fallen, broken thing. They have no honor."
He raised his right foot, stamping the earth, which glowed with an eerie green light.
"This war is no longer confined to Imperial territory. Prospero has been cursed by the actions of its protectors. It deserves no mercy."
"The Wolves will purge this world, so it may never trouble humanity again."
"I authorize the use of phosphex weapons! Thoroughly purify this world!"
The Black Slayers howled. They were Terrans.
Like the Ultramarines' 22nd Chapter and other Legions' Terrans, they were tasked with extermination.
Russ's ice-blue eyes swept over the unleashed Black Slayers as they switched to phosphex weapons. The siege artillery of the Pyre Guard pulled phosphex shells from their munitions crates.
As Russ gave his cold command, Kalophis slammed to the ground.
He rose from the rubble. He felt the aetheric tide, surging through Tizca, recede from his body.
He looked around. Slender forms, bearing longswords, surrounded him.
"Sisters of Silence."
