Chapter 1349: Chapter 577: Steel Felix

PS2: Taking a day off tomorrow to organize my thoughts!
Kislev, the northernmost Order faction in the Old World, is known as the "Shield of Civilization." Around a thousand years ago, they migrated here from the Kurgan Steppe and established this icy realm amid the tundra and desert.
Since its establishment, Kislev has continually faced the threat of Chaos. Because of this, the entire country remains under a constant pressure and military-driven background. Apart from the nobility, very few civilians can genuinely achieve "adequate food and clothing." Even so, the nation and its people continue to stand in the northernmost part of the Old World.
The courage that erupts from this nation and its people in times of adversity is as terrifying as Chaos itself.
After the Great Holy War, Kislev was rebuilt, and the Empire dispatched additional troops to assist Kislev in guarding the northern border. The Oster Territory and Ostmark Alliance maintain close ties with Kislev; whenever the northern Chaos forces stir, these two Imperial provinces immediately provide assistance. The immense pressure on Kislev makes the peasants willing to endure some additional taxes and levies as long as the Kingdom’s defenses are strengthened. Likewise, the enormous military pressure also compels Kislev’s noble "Boyars" to consciously abolish some excessive and unpopular taxes to ensure local residents and their forces maintain a decent standard of living. The Empire frequently supports Kislev with grain and other supplies as well.
"Southern People look down on us, thinking we are all a bunch of Barbarians, no different from those Barbarians. But you should be thankful! If not for us, the Northern Barbarians would burn down your homes and drag your children from their beds! Without us, you would constantly face the erosion of Chaos! You look down on us? You should thank us!"
——Marshal of Kislev, Konev
In Kislev, there are three armies known as the most elite forces. They are the Krim Guard responsible for protecting the capital of Kislev, the Kislev Royal Bear Cavalry blessed by the Bear God Erson, and the Kislev Winged Cavalry Legion famed throughout the entire Old World.
The Winged Cavalry Legion was originally established to give Kislev a formidable heavy cavalry force. Therefore, every noble family in Kislev was required to send at least one adult male cavalryman. These noble cavalrymen came together to form the Winged Cavalry Legion. Their fighting spirit is fervent; they charge into enemy lines with wings or banners, howling frighteningly like a whirlwind. Moreover, the unique tactics of the Winged Cavalry involve a sudden full-team turn to attack, which often routs many armies, earning their renowned battle honors quickly across the Old World.
When initially formed, the Winged Cavalry Legion numbered about two thousand men. Today, after nearly two hundred years of development, the Legion has a scale of approximately 4000-4400 men.
Can Kislev afford to maintain this heavy cavalry force?
Obviously, the answer is no. Therefore, since its establishment, besides the port city Erlengrad supporting 200-300 Winged Cavalry, the vast majority of the Winged Cavalry have served as mercenaries under the Empire, earning their upkeep themselves.
"Felix Edmundovich, former General of the Kislev Winged Cavalry ’Jierren’ Legion. He has distinguished himself greatly in a series of campaigns and participated in the ’Great Purge’ campaign of former Tsar Boris Bokha. In the war, Felix showed unwavering determination and tenacious combat style, leading his Winged Cavalry Legion in clearing the Chaos Remnant Army, Barbarian Raiders, Green Skin, and Beastman lurking in the Kislev wilderness. He fought tirelessly day and night, chasing the enemy until nightfall, and was ready to continue fighting at dawn."
"Thus, Felix battled for three months, finally clearing all enemies north of the Linsk River, in the Giant Demon Realm. He’s known widely by the moniker ’Steel Felix’!" Amancio introduced this former Kislev General aloud, and even stood up voluntarily: "I firmly believe General Felix and his Winged Cavalry battalion will surely be able to assist you, Lord Fugen!"
"Hello, General Felix." Lord Fugen has always respected such tenacious soldiers, and he stood up sincerely to show his respect to the Kislev general, who looked no older than in his forties.
Felix wore a standard Kislev military hat, which seemed somewhat comical in such hot weather. The General carefully identified the handsome man before him, whose stature was tall enough to resemble a Barbarian. After confirming there was no falsity or mockery in the man’s eyes, he politely nodded: "Hello, and please don’t call me General. I have been exiled by Her Majesty Katarina. I am no longer a General of Kislev!"
"No, you are forever a General. Your burning eyes, your steely will, your resolute military posture, and your instinctive actions all tell everyone that you are still a General." Lord Fugen earnestly shook hands with Felix: "Can you tell us what happened? Why would that female... King exile you?"
