Chapter 1326: Chapter 568: Chaos Wasteland

The Mortal World, Far North, Chaos Wasteland, the place closest to the True God.

Here, it is forever covered by ice and fire, the land sometimes frozen into a snowfield, other times hot with magma spewing from beneath. Every place here exudes eeriness, with almost no flora or fauna over the Chaos Wasteland, only countless nameless and formless creatures’ eternal homes and nests.

"The North is our past, the North is also our future."

——"The Savior" Ludwig

Before the Ancient Saints arrived, the Far North and Far South were known as the Arctic and Antarctic. These were extremely cold regions, barren and uninhabited, and the planet’s natives had never reached them.

Until the Ancient Saints arrived.

Long before mortal races were born, the teleportation gates at the poles were constructed by the Ancient Saints and their servants, the Shilan. The Ancient Saints were not native creatures of this planet; they came from a place much farther away.

The teleportation gates were established here, and the Ancient Saints arrived wave after wave in this world. The gates were initially used for instantaneous, cross-dimensional transportation of resources to other worlds. Built with alien technology, these gates were enormous, capable of transporting a large amount of resources at once. It is said the gates could accommodate an entire army of Ancient Saints at once.

After a brief adaptation, the Ancient Saints established the Spirit Vein Network, then resided in this world. They had their pet Demon Toads assist them in various experiments and created Lizardmen (Solosis) and Spirit Lizards (Shink) as helpers for the Demon Toads. They devised a grand plan, always plotting something of utmost importance.

Thus, several millennia passed.

Until one day, the Ancient Saints’ mortal enemies descended.

Disastrous destruction occurred with the Ancient Saints’ machines, and things quickly spiraled out of control. The teleportation gates began to collapse and fall apart, and the Ancient Saints lost control over the gates and the other worlds. Pure Chaos Energy began to spread through the shattered gates across the world, causing various mutations among all life forms. The first Beastman was born at this time, and dimensional stones, products of solidified primordial Chaos Energy, rained down on the mortal realm, causing more disasters and mutated creatures. This is known as the Great Catastrophe.

When the gates were ultimately destroyed by this disaster, Chaos Energy surged from Subspace, irrevocably changing the land at the poles, creating Chaos Wastelands akin to Eternal Hell. The Ancient Saints realized their experimental grounds, playgrounds, and future refuge world could no longer be saved, so they fled the planet, never to return.

Everyone knows what happened afterward.

Now, the Northern Wasteland has turned into a nightmare realm, where no mortal creature can exist for long. They will soon be destroyed or twisted, corrupted into something else. Within the cold winds or hot winds lies the whisper of the Evil God, and the will of the Chaos Four Gods extends over the Chaos Wasteland. The echoes of Subspace resound back and forth over this land, and in just a few minutes, it can drive a sane mortal mad.

However, one man’s poison is another man’s elixir.

The Northern Wasteland has never been as barren and lifeless as the ignorant Southern People imagine. Quite the opposite, the Northern Wasteland is a bustling place where countless twisted and unspeakable strange creatures roam, with Chaos Demons, Chaos Evil Beasts, Dragon Demons, Chaos Ogres, and Beastmen wandering in this playground, engaging in endless warfare. These wars are neither for glory and power nor for plunder and survival, but merely for the perpetually incomprehensible plans of the Four Gods. Every day, the Wasteland trembles due to various massive conflicts; the scale of these wars surpasses even the most inconceivable battles of the Old World.

Similarly, the Northern Wasteland is a holy pilgrimage site for the Barbarians. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

After gaining the favor of an Evil God and becoming Chaos Warriors, most Barbarians would go on a pilgrimage to the Chaos Wasteland. To the hypocritical and weak Southern People, Chaos Corruption is terrifying, Chaos Mutation is a curse, and the Chaos Threat is something to be eradicated. These people only know to sit and wait, pleading for help from those deceitful gods, hoping to escape Chaos’s shadow.

Yet Chaos is eternal, and the Northern Barbarians regard Chaos Corruption and Chaos Mutation as a blessing. Over countless years, they have embraced the corruption, as well as the power of Chaos. They view this mutation as a gift from the gods, although not everyone can endure Chaos’s blessing. Those Chaos Warriors unable to bear the favor of the Evil Gods transform into Chaos Eggs, but even the mindless Chaos Eggs are considered "sacred objects" among the Barbarians.

Ambitious Huns, Mongolians, Kurgan people, and Norsca people would all go on a pilgrimage to the Chaos Wasteland, where endless challenges, slaughters, and strife never cease. It is a grand stage play crowded with actors eager to take the stage, while the Evil Gods watch silently from the shadows, seeking out those they find interesting.

For example, the former King of the Skalings, "Red Eye" Egil Steelbjorn, who, during hundreds of years of "pilgrimage," slew countless formidable foes and eventually won the favor of Khorne, becoming a champion chosen by Khorne. Other Chaos Warriors, if they can survive in the Chaos Wasteland and return home, will enjoy endless glory amidst the songs and roars of their comrades, becoming admired Chaos Champions.
