Chapter 1311: Chapter 562: The Final Siege Battle (Part 2)

"Perhaps you’re right." Alboim Wallace’s face was tinged with a bit of nostalgia: "He changed this kingdom."

"...This kingdom needs a new force." The Green Knight’s voice carried a touch of sadness: "Landuin has entrusted everything to Laine; time will prove everything."

...I am the divider of the kingdom he changed...

Three days later, within the besieging army camp of Musillon.

A few large iron balls, studded with spikes, were placed in front of the Dwarf craftsmen. Dwarf Engineer Dugen the Ironman had a face filled with gray. His body exuded a strong smell of Black Powder, and many onlookers suspected that just a tiny spark would cause the engineer to explode on the spot.

The cork of a glass bottle was removed, and the last remnants of Black Powder were poured into the large iron ball. Dugen the Ironman nodded: "Well, that’s about it."

"Hahaha~ This is all our stock, enough for the damned Undead to taste a bit of Dwarven wrath." Chief Engineer of the Angland Clan, Harharaver the Gold Digger, commented from the side: "This is the Dwarves’ magic."

"Ah? I heard the Dwarves’ magic is rune magic?" Laine observed the development from the sidelines.

"No." Belgar gently stroked his long beard, the King of Eight Peaks shook his head: "Historically, there were indeed Dwarf Mages, but that’s a very old tale. When Eight Peaks Mountain was first built, you know, Laine brothers, Eight Peaks Mountain was the first fortress of the Dwarves, its history predates that of Karaz-A-Karak."

"Hmm~ And what ultimately caused you to lose your magic?" The Wood Elf Lord Alaros disliked the temporary workshop filled with steel and gunpowder, but the Divine Chosen Champion of Airel was indeed curious about this history.

The history of Wood Elves is primarily transmitted orally. Whenever they are full and content, the Eslelin gather, light a bonfire, and begin to tell stories. Their history has been passed down in this manner. However, through long evolution, the Wood Elf history has intentionally been distorted and significantly altered; this all Wood Elves are aware of.

Even the most ascetic Wood Elves still have their stances. Disgraceful or unhonorable pasts are gradually "erased and omitted" through biased accounts, while glorious, intriguing, and commemorative history gets exaggerated and expanded. Then many artificial details get added.

Alaros was a victim of this phenomenon. He eagerly shared how he met Lilith with all the Wood Elves, resulting in countless versions of the story: some say the goddess was moved to offer herself, some say she was moved to use her garments to bind Alaros’s wounds, some even claim she was moved to consummate the relationship outdoors.

Alaros felt both proud and frustrated about this. On one hand, he was delighted, feeling the goddess favored him and that he had some connection with her. On the other hand, the truth is he merely strolled under the moonlight with Lilith. The High Elf Moon Goddess spoke to him about her "New World" plan and hoped Alaros could become the Asuyan of the new world.

Unfortunately, Alaros was too young, too naive, and too pure to understand what Lilith was saying.

Conversely, the respect the Dwarves have for their historical records is much more reliable. The Dwarves often use their language to document all events they encounter on tablets and scrolls. Though not entirely impartial, the history recorded by Dwarves is mostly sincere and credible, especially what’s found in the Book of Hatred.

"Because the Magic Wind isn’t friendly to Dwarves." Belgar said heavily: "Even if a Dwarf Mage forcibly uses magic, they eventually turn into stone."

"Much like some Curse-Singers of Aisloron." Alaros exclaimed: "Some Curse-Singers even end up summoning Chaos Demons due to failed spellcasting."

"But because of this, the Ancestors discovered magic doesn’t necessarily need to be channeled through the body, nor is it only for attacking enemies." Belgar nodded, thinking that although Wood Elves were quite irksome, Alaros wasn’t too difficult to interact with: "Therefore, people attempted to fix the Magic Wind on stone and anvil, which led to..."

"The birth of rune blacksmiths." Laine understood: "So that’s how rune blacksmiths came to be."

"That’s how it is." Belgar’s recount of history attracted everyone’s keen listening. He felt quite pleased, thinking that Dwarves had deeper heritage than the sharp-eared races and "inferior product manufacturers." A brief impartation of ancient knowledge left everyone attentively listening.

Sealing the large iron ball, Dugen the Ironman boomed: "Great, it’s ready, let’s begin!"

"Alright! Let’s begin!"

Thirty minutes later, the besieging forces finally sounded the horn for the full-scale assault.

This time, Laine held nothing back, ordering the entire army to press forward. Both peasant soldiers and Master Knights must participate in this attack, all forces required to seize Musillon in one go!

The massive, colorful besieging army commenced their assault. Several heavy siege vehicles, fortified by Dwarves, advanced under the protection of Knights. Dozens of Artillery fired continuously: Imperial Heavy Cannons, Hellstorm Rapid-Fire Cannons, Hellstorm Rocket Cannons, Dwarf Cannons, and Organ Cannons fired simultaneously. Whistling projectiles traced dozens of smoky paths, crashing onto the city walls, sending the defending forces flying in swathes.
