Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Twin Souls Covenant

Jeremy suddenly remembered something, lowering his eyes to look at the back of his hand.

The mark that had once been activated in the ancient tower at the bottom of the sea had now firmly clung to his soul and transferred over to this new physical body. The complex totem on the skin still displayed its sharp outlines, deep red like freshly dried blood, clearly showing no intention of letting him go.

He rotated his wrist under the light spilling in from the window frame. Those veined patterns did not reflect light, nor did they cast shadows - they lay dormant beneath the skin as if carved from the inside out.

Phoenix had once mentioned that this mark was directly bound to the soul. Even now, Jeremy still couldn’t determine whether its existence was ultimately a blessing or a curse.

As for the Spirit Covenant bestowed by the gods...

On the Sylvanor continent, there were those possessing outstanding innate talent who could awaken very early, but that number was pitifully small. The vast majority would stop at the sixteen-year-old milestone. If one crossed this boundary and their Spirit Covenant still slumbered, it meant that person had been stamped by destiny as an ordinary piece of trash, forever unable to sense magic power, let alone have the qualification to touch the threshold of a mage.

The awakening of a Spirit Covenant was tightly linked to divine bestowal, often referred to by the magic community as "autonomous awakening."

The entry Spirit Covenant inspection at academies was actually just a procedural formality for record-keeping, while also using supportive magic tools to stimulate the awakening process for potential mages. Simply put, the academy only played the role of a guiding light; there was absolutely no rule mandating that a living being must step foot into an academy to awaken their Spirit Covenant.

The physical body Jeremy was currently using had long surpassed the sixteen-year-old threshold, and logically should have been able to autonomously awaken.

Lightly rotating his wrist, Jeremy channeled a thin stream of magic power along his meridians. The sensation was a bit strange - like walking on a familiar road that had just been repaved with stone; the smoothness and width deviated slightly from his memory.

Under the guidance of his will, on his pale skin gradually bloomed a floating, glowing Spirit Covenant number sequence: [305]. Right below that number sequence, intricate, winding divine runic lines carrying an ancient aura slowly etched deeply into his vision.

Even having swapped to another shell, his Spirit Covenant was still firmly pinned to the number 305.

Before Jeremy transmigrated to this world, his biological younger brother Sylas had awakened Spirit Covenant 305. It seemed Jeremy’s core essence resonated with the exact same number - what was stamped was not flesh and bone, but the soul.

The Spirit Covenants bestowed by the gods upon all things on the continent, once awakened, would instantly reflect their position within the supreme secret realm constructed by the gods’ own hands - the Divine Domain Realm. That place was an absolute holy ground; only those personally chosen by the gods had the qualification to enter. Any heretical living being, even if they sacrificed their life, could not hope to touch even a hem of the Divine Domain’s robes. Its strictness was absolute.

The status and power of the gods, as well as the high or low ranking of the Spirit Covenants, had never been something for humanity to judge or rank. That was a rule established by the gods themselves.

Humanity reverently called it: The Divine Oracle.

Every brilliant star in the Divine Domain represented a ruling god. As of the present moment, that sky sparkled with exactly 305 stars. This meant that within the righteous faction in the Divine Domain, there were exactly 305 gods existing.

The amount of grace the gods bestowed upon the mortal realm was naturally also clearly displayed.

According to what was recorded in Sylvanor’s ancient tomes, the gods holding the Holy Covenants at the top of the pyramid and those lying flat at the bottom - meaning from number 229 onwards - were the ones with the meagerest amount of blessings.

Over millions of long years, the number of people bearing the grace of Holy Covenant No. 1 had never surpassed the milestone of one hundred. The low-ranking Spirit Covenants after the 229 mark were even more pitiful; sometimes they couldn’t even be counted on ten fingers.

As for this bottom-ranked number 305, there was no need to mention it. Across the vast continent, there had originally only been Sylas alone; now, an anomaly like Jeremy had popped up, reluctantly bumping the population up to two.

Thinking of this, the corners of Jeremy’s lips curled up slightly. An entire continent so vast that walking an entire lifetime wouldn’t reach its edge, yet the followers of that god gathered together were just enough to share a single tea table.

Regarding the Holy Covenants and Spirit Covenants situated in the middle, the number of blessed individuals could explode up to tens of thousands, perhaps even a myriad.

However, a covenant with the gods had never been a free lunch. Once the bearer of the grace drew their last breath, all the bestowed divine power, along with the lifelong cultivation strength of that person, would be completely stripped and reclaimed by the gods. This was considered by the magic community to be a ruthlessly fair transaction.

Research by the First Generation Magic Tower Master had once pointed out: The gods holding high-tier Holy Covenants had extremely stringent selection criteria, resulting in humans possessing these abilities being as sparse as autumn leaves.

Meanwhile, the low-tier Spirit Covenants were limited by their own meager divine power, lacking the capability to divide their grace among thousands of people, so their numbers were equally sparse. Only the mid-tier gods could maintain stability, not being too picky, thus blessing a large number of followers.

Up until now, this argument had ingrained itself deeply into the subconscious, becoming the default theorem for all living beings on the Sylvanor continent.

Jeremy’s gaze lingered on the number 305 for a few more seconds. He closed his eyes, trying to focus his spirit to awaken the Spirit Covenant’s specialized skill. According to the rules, the abilities of those possessing the same number would be identical.

Exactly as predicted, the glowing text hovering in mid-air shattered and rearranged itself, translating into the current language that perfectly matched what he had seen on his first day of transmigration: [Maboroshi].

However, there was a subtle discrepancy compared to the past. Previously, this skill allowed arbitrary switching among five types of forms. But this time, a new energy branch had sprouted, bringing forth a sixth form: The Myriad Runic Card.

Jeremy’s gaze slightly wavered. Could the number of Sacred Weapon forms automatically increase halfway through?

Since the continent’s encyclopedia completely lacked a single line of record regarding Spirit Covenant 305, Jeremy was completely clueless as to whether this development was normal or had deviated from the trajectory. But ultimately, regarding his current materialized Sacred Weapon, aside from providing absolute flexibility between close-quarters and long-range combat, he still hadn’t figured out any other substantial strengthening effect.

Sprouting an additional card form didn’t sound like any heaven-defying power either. Still, to familiarize himself with the new weapon, Jeremy reached out a hand, channeling magic power to summon the materialized Sacred Weapon into its card form.

A flash of light sparked, condensing into a single card pinched between his two slender fingers.

It was so light it was almost weightless, but it was cold - a coldness that seeped into his fingertips like he had just picked up a thin shard of ice.

Jeremy flipped it back and forth, his sharp gaze skimming over every detail. The front and back were completely contrasting. The front sparkled with gemstone fragments engraved with exquisite star runes, intertwining with intricate divine runes; the background was a brilliantly gilded Star Abyss matrix, exuding a solemn divine majesty.

But turning to the back... a silent void of night swallowed the light. In that darkness, pitch-black shackles flickered in and out of sight, wrapping around dark purple, decaying floral patterns. The surface of the card was cut like a multi-faceted prism; every angle reflected a different illusion. It brought a sinister, viscous feeling, like a chaotic abyss waiting to swallow the soul of anyone facing it.

Jeremy tilted the card another half-turn. In a reflecting angle, what appeared was not his face, but a void - disappearing before he could look closely.

He raised an eyebrow, his finger lightly rubbing the edge of the paper-thin card. He truly couldn’t think of a combat scenario that would require using this toy. Most importantly, there was exactly one card! If he threw it out as a hidden weapon and it was caught by the opponent, wouldn’t he be disarming himself by his own hands, pushing himself into a passive state?

Thinking of that absurd scene - standing in the middle of the arena, empty-handed, politely waiting for the opponent to return the card to him - the corners of Jeremy’s lips twitched slightly. He waved his hand, retracting the Sacred Weapon, deciding to hide this form in a corner until he figured out a reasonable way to use it.

Just as he was about to shift his attention elsewhere, behind the hovering number 305 flashed again, revealing a line of brilliantly golden yet concise text - [Wordless Void Domain: Twin Souls Covenant].

Wordless Void Domain? The translation didn’t display the word "Spirit" but rather the word "Void"?

Jeremy narrowed his eyes. It was highly likely a translation error by the magic system, or just an alternative name carrying no substantial meaning.

Temporarily not perceiving any threat, he lazily ignored that detail, continuing to drag his vision down to the footnote below.

Under the golden text was a paragraph of explanatory text. Translated into the Empire’s common language, the main point was summarized: The physical body he was currently controlling also bore Spirit Covenant 305, but its specialized ability did not stop at Maboroshi. It was attached with a bizarre privilege - Twin Souls Covenant.

This meant that, from now on, he and his younger brother Sylas could share a single magic power reservoir, share the same realm, and copy all of each other’s skills.

Aside from the fact that magic power would be consumed upon activation, this privilege did not demand any other price of flesh, blood, or soul.

A power-sharing contract with no risks... The corners of Jeremy’s lips curled up slightly. This was absolutely an unexpected reward.

To verify, he instantly closed his eyes, circulating his magic power.

The first skill was the Mirror Image Prison, the second skill was the Light and Dark Domain. There were no formal changes, but behind the name of each skill, four faint words were added: (Twin Souls Covenant).

At the time he awakened these two skills, his soul was still residing in Sylas’s physical body. The world’s rules had judged those two skills to belong to Sylas.

His return to his own physical body meant that, in the future, his soul sea still had vacant slots to awaken additional exclusive skills that belonged solely to him.
