Chapter 85- Leveling Demon (Part 2)

Rize walked for a while, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the fresh air of the forest. It felt quite refreshing even though the capital itself was gorgeous in its own modern way. However, for him, nothing beats nature and how raw it truly felt.

Everything felt untouched by human hand, and there was a charm to that idea. After walking for a while, he stopped and drank some water before he checked his map.

’I’m gonna head north for a while, see if I can catch some weaker animals and then head deeper into the forest for the real deal.’

With that plan in mind, Rize finally put the phone away and pulled his sword out. Walking through the thick forest, he used the sword to cut the branches and weeds out of his way.

’Sorry that my first use of you is to cut branches, Blade Of Wrath.’ Rize thought to himself. ’You’re pretty damn good at it, I must say.’

After walking for a while longer, Rize suddenly heard a noise nearby. He stopped and scanned the area.

’There we go, our first target.’ He thought to himself as he hid and watched silently. A few seconds later, an animal emerged from the bushes. It was a large boar, with two horns on its nostrils and one protruding out of its forehead.

It was quite big, way bigger than the wild boars that Rize knew of. He had already seen countless abominations before, so this was nothing in comparison.

’Ok, let’s get that rust off.’

*Swish*

Suddenly, Rize dashed out of his hiding spot, alerting the boar as it turned around. Seeing the human approaching it, it screeched before it ran toward him with its horns pointed forward, ready to skewer him.

However, Rize easily sidestepped the attack as he instantly sliced with his sword. The blade was so light and responsive, moving like a flash as it cut the monster deep. Blood gushed out of the boar as it was trampled forward and fell. A pool of blood formed around its body.

’Wow, I didn’t even feel any resistance.’ Rize was shocked as he looked at his sword. The dirty blade had already sucked the blood dry, leaving it clean again.

Then, Rize turned around as he heard the pained cries of the dying board. ’Let’s put it out of its misery.’

Approaching the monster, he stared down at it before he stabbed with his sword, aiming for its head. The blade easily pierced through the monster’s skull, killing it on the spot. A second later, the monster stopped moving, and Rize received a notification.

[You have killed a Tier 8 Three-Horned Boar.]

[You have gained +2 strength, +1 agility.]

"This is very nice." He muttered. Almost immediately, Rize felt a rush of energy course through his body, giving his muscles more strength and speed. The feeling was really pleasant. ’Not too bad for a first kill, but I definitely need to start going for stronger. This is nothing.’

As he came to pull the sword out, he noticed something.

"Hm?"

The blade was soaking up blood and absorbing it hungrily as if it were a thirsty beast. Rize noticed as the monster lost weight from all the blood it was losing.

[Blade of Wrath absorbed blood.]

[Rank: Tier 1 (1%)]

"Nice. You’re really doing it all yourself." Rize smiled as he pulled the sword out when it was done. ’It is already getting stronger purely by absorbing blood. This is unbelievably strong.’

"Speaking of absorbing. Maybe you can take care of the rest, Endless." Rize said as he summoned his gift. The wretched black matter came out. "Do you wanna eat that?"

[Endless Hunger Activated: Absorb Mode.]

Before Rize could even speak, Endless Hunger lunged at the dead corpse and absorbed it in seconds, leaving nothing behind.

[Target consumed successfully.]

[Efficency: 5%]

[Endless Hunger is learning]

[Progress: Tier 1 (20%)]

[You have gained +1 point in precision.]

"Well, thank you very much," Rize muttered. "I can use Blade of Wratch to absorb the blood, and then Endless Hunger cleans everything. It’s actually perfect."

Even when he was planning to get Blade of Wrath, Rize never accounted for the fact that he would have a gift that perfectly complements it and works with it. It was simply a win-win situation.

’I’m going to squeeze every single monster I kill for every single bit of power I could get. This will make me get ahead of the masses so easily.’

With that in mind, Rize turned around to continue moving when suddenly he heard another movement in the bushes. Immediately, a wicked smile appeared on his face.

***

For the next two hours, Rize hunted down everything that got in his path. Mostly boars, rabbits, and other wild animals that he could easily kill. Then, he would let Blade of Wrath absorb their blood and then feed the corpse to Endless Hunger.

The process was very swift and rather easy, and yet... The sheer amount of points he received was staggering.

[You have gained +1...]

[You have gained +2...]

[You have gained +1 agility.]

The notifications kept rolling in with every kill, and they all gave him a euphoric feeling of power. In a matter of hours, he had gained what would take him weeks of training to achieve. It was ridiculous.

’I feel stronger and faster... And smarter... The world around me feels clearer.’ Staring at his body, Rize could only smile.

Each point felt like it was changing the entire world around him and making him someone different.

When the sun was well high into the sky, Rize finally stopped for a break as he pulled out an energy bar and ate it as he rested against a tree.

"Hmmm, I’ve actually gotten quite a few points."

Opening his profile, Rize checked his progress.

[Name: Rize]

[Age: 16]

[Race: Human]

[Affiliation: None]

[Status: Alive]

[Potential: Unknown]

[Tier: 8 (19%)]

[Stats:

Strength: 19

Agility: 18

Stamina: 18

Intelligence: 24

Essence: 256

Precision: 28]

"Nice..." Rize muttered. "Gained a few percentages in my Tier 8 journey and also quite a bit in all my stats. I’m almost twice as strong as an average human now." Rize nodded as he took another bite of his energy bar. "Well, all except for my Essence stat. I mean, it doesn’t need any more for a long while, but I wonder why it isn’t increasing."

His essence was perhaps the weirdest part of all. It just stood out like a sore thumb with that humungous number. More importantly, Rize could tell that it was important for Endless Hunger to function properly.

’I should start using Endless Hunger more in fights so I can learn to coordinate with it and also control it while fighting. That sounds tough because I need to really focus on it to make it move properly, and that needs work.’

To have that kind of mental power, Rize needed to get stronger, and to get stronger, Rize needed to fight and kill. It was almost like a closed loop that feeds itself, and he liked that.

"Ok, time to continue." Putting the empty plastic wrapper in his bag and stood up, dusting his clothes.

The hunt continues.

(A//N: Won’t be doing a lot of these stat dumps often, this is more of an update for the people. Will be adding an auxiliary Chapter soon :])
