Chapter 79- Words Of Blood (Part 1)
As Venera walked out of the room, she was clad in beautiful attire. She had a formal white ensemble with golden engravings featuring a fitted high-collared top with a flowing red cape to the side of her torso, a white skirt, and knee-high boots.
It gave off an air of royalty and elegance that stunned Rize for a second. Venera had always been a jaw-dropping beauty, but what was truly special about her was her sheer presence. For someone who had barely reached 17 years of age, she had an air of wisdom and intelligence that followed her wherever she went.
She was always the center of attention, even in a room full of high-ranking officials or other nobility.
Rize took a second to appreciate her beauty before he smiled. "You look nice." He said with a genuine tone.
"Thank you. You too." Venera gave him a long glance. Rize was already an extremely good-looking person, but it seemed he only got more and more handsome by the day. Even though she had known him for a while now, she could only appreciate how handsome he was every single time.
"Thanks. I don’t know if I really like formal attire like this. I feel so off." Rize said as he looked at his suit. "I like more practical clothes."
"Well, be ready to wear that kind of thing a lot in the future. These events are a staple in high society." Venera said. "Everyone wants to pretend like they’re better than the other, so you should expect extravagant attire and all kinds of excessive jewelry."
"Sounds very fun," Rize said as he walked after her. At the same time, Rize adjusted the earpiece he had gotten from Rob earlier. It was a communication device that would link him to the Royal Knights and the security officials who were responsible for keeping the rally in order.
That entire time, he was listening to the guards transmitting their positions, the current state of the plaza, and all other useful information.
’This is going to be really intense.’ Rize sighed. ’Everyone is clearly on edge, and one small problem could make everything go to hell.’
Rize’s main goal was to naturally keep Venera safe and make sure nothing harmed her. However, at the same time, he was tasked with keeping an eye on his surroundings for any abnormality or malicious intent.
’That’s easier said than done; there will be like a million people there. Finding one particular enemy is almost impossible, but I will try.’
Sucking a deep breath, Rize left the palace with Venera as they got into the car assigned for them. For security reasons, each Royal Family member had their own assigned car to avoid any possible attacks.
There were many cars leaving the palace; some were decoys, and others were the ones each family member would use. That would make it way harder for the attackers to identify each car. At the same time, that only proved how paranoid the king and the officials were and that they still didn’t discover who the attacker was and who orchestrated this entire incident.
’It’s like they’re fighting a ghost. This man, whoever he is, is definitely not going to be an easy catch at all. He knows every move the king will do, and he knows when to attack and when to lay low.’
Remembering the conversation he heard between that man and Vigil, Rize knew that this entire plan was something he had crafted meticulously, and even a hiccup of that magnitude didn’t bother him at all.
’He told Vigil to lay low so he might not even make a move yet. However, I still need to keep an eye out for anything.’
Something told Rize that things might not go as perfectly as he anticipated. Even with all this security, and even though there was not much one could do, it still didn’t sit right with him. Something was amiss, and he didn’t know what it was.
"Are you ok, Rize?" Venera asked when she saw the look in his eyes.
"Hm? Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking." Rize replied. "Anyway, we are almost here, so please stay close to me. If anything bad happens, I want you to listen to me and what I need you to do, ok?" He said.
"..."
"Venera." Rize leaned to look at her face. "No trying to be the hero, ok? It’s my responsibility to keep you safe, so you better listen."
Venera looked away with an annoyed look on her face before she clicked her tongue. "Fine. But if you try to do anything dangerous, I won’t just shut up about it."
"It’s gonna be fine. I feel stronger than ever." Rize said. "Even my shoulder is fine."
"That’s good."
Just as Rize said that, they finally arrived at the plaza, and the noise took over their ears. Just staring outside gave Rize a shocking realization of how big the crowd truly was. The numbers were so huge it appeared like a wave and not as individuals.
People were cheering and talking, and the atmosphere was a mix of excitement and fear. It felt like they entered a whole new world.
Eventually, the car stopped behind the massive stage and parked in one of the assigned areas. Immediately, a group of guards came to receive the princess. They opened the door for her as she came out.
"Her Highness has arrived!" The guard said as the rest escorted her and Rize to their assigned spot. Both had a seat to the side of the stage where nobody could see them, and they had a clear view of the podium where the King would speak and the crowd itself.
There were several other important guests there, some Generals, with Yelena amongst them. She saw Rize and Venera and bowed her head.
The rest followed suit, and Venera signaled for them to stand up.
"How is the situation so far, Yelena?"
"Nothing out of the ordinary. My men are keeping an eye on the situation." Yelena explained. "If the enemy tries to do something, we will surely catch them before they can do anything."
