Villain's Evolution: Investing in My Minions Yields Crazy Returns!
Chapter 99: Victor’s Arrival [2]
One of the reasons the others believed it would take two minutes or more to reach Ryan and Leah was the distance between the teleportation site and the students’ current position.
One would need extremely high speed or a powerful movement skill to beat that time.
However, thanks to Victor’s naturally high stats and Shadow Blink, he had crossed that distance in just over a minute!
...
BOOM!
A blazing sword aura swept across the rocky forest, slamming viciously into the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf’s flank. The terrifying impact sent its enormous body sliding several meters sideways, smashing through countless rocks before carving a deep trench into the ground.
Flames scattered in every direction, instantly setting the surrounding trees ablaze.
However, in the next moment, everyone witnessed a shocking scene.
The Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf slowly rose from the rubble. Although a charred sword mark had been left across the black scales covering its abdomen, very little blood flowed from the wound. Instead, strands of dark purple mana continuously gathered around it, rapidly devouring the flames remaining on the injury.
With just one strike, Victor had already determined the defensive strength of this magical beast.
’Strong.’
Moreover, although that sword strike had been somewhat rushed, he had already used the power of the Heaven Burning Sword Art.
If it had been an ordinary First Tier magical beast, it would probably have been cut in half already.
"Victor?!"
Ryan raised his head, disbelief flashing through his eyes.
How could he possibly be here?
This was the freshman screening area!
However, Victor had no intention of answering his questions.
With a flash, his figure appeared beside Leah, and he reached out to support the girl who was about to collapse.
"Young Master..."
Leah struggled to open her eyes. Upon seeing that familiar face, her previously tense nerves finally relaxed slightly.
But almost immediately, she remembered something, and her expression changed drastically.
"Run... That thing can devour mana. I’m its target..."
"I know."
Victor placed a recovery potion in her hand before raising his head to look at Ryan.
"Can you still move?"
Ryan gritted his teeth and stood up.
"I’m not dying yet."
"Then take her away from here. The farther, the better."
"By yourself?" Ryan frowned. "That’s a Second Tier magical beast!"
Victor glanced at him. "So, you want to stay and help?"
Ryan: "..."
After those few brief exchanges, he had already experienced the enormous difference in strength between himself and the beast.
If he continued staying here, he would probably only become a burden.
"I’ll take her away."
Ryan stopped wasting words and quickly moved to Leah’s side.
However, just as he was about to help the girl up, the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf suddenly let out an enraged roar in the distance.
"ROAR!"
Its enormous body suddenly leaped into the air!
Its pitch black claws, wrapped in dark purple mana, came crashing down toward the three of them.
Victor’s eyes turned cold.
"Stupid monster."
Blazing flames erupted from the Crimson Flame Fang.
Taking a step forward, he swung his sword directly toward the enormous claw, which possessed enough strength to shatter a massive boulder!
BOOM!
Flames and dark purple mana collided violently. A terrifying shockwave swept outward, instantly snapping several ancient trees in half.
Victor felt an unimaginable force surge through his sword. His feet sank violently into the ground, and an intense numbness spread throughout his entire right arm.
But he forcibly blocked it!
"What?!"
Ryan’s pupils contracted sharply.
The terrifying force that he could barely withstand for even a single strike had actually been blocked head on by Victor!
Although Victor had also been pushed several meters backward by the impact, that was still a frontal attack from a Second Life Tier magical beast!
"What are you standing around for?"
Victor shouted without looking back.
"Go!"
Ryan finally snapped out of his shock. Supporting Leah, he quickly retreated deeper into the forest.
Seeing this, the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf immediately locked its crimson eyes onto their retreating figures.
It opened its enormous mouth, and the surrounding dark purple mana gathered frantically, forming a pitch black torrent of energy aimed directly at the fleeing pair.
Naturally, Victor would never allow it to succeed.
"Shadow Blink!"
Whoosh!
His figure suddenly disappeared.
In the next instant, he appeared beside the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf.
Crimson Flame Fang carried a sharp streak of fire as it slashed viciously toward the beast’s neck!
CLANG!
The sword collided with its scales, sending sparks flying everywhere.
The Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf’s head was violently knocked sideways by the strike. The black torrent of energy it had been gathering immediately lost control and shot toward a distant cliff.
RUMBLE!
The entire cliff face shook violently as countless rocks came crashing down like a torrential rainstorm.
Victor’s eyes narrowed slightly.
What terrifying destructive power!
If that attack had struck Leah, there probably wouldn’t have been a corpse left behind.
However, before he could withdraw his sword, the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf suddenly turned around. Its thick tail, wrapped in violent dark purple mana, swept toward him.
Too fast! Relying almost entirely on his Combat Intuition, Victor twisted his body aside in advance.
BOOM!
The tail brushed past his chest before smashing into a massive boulder behind him.
The entire rock exploded instantly!
Flying fragments of stone left a bloody cut across Victor’s cheek.
He quickly widened the distance between them, his mind growing increasingly calm.
As expected, it was on an entirely different level from ordinary First Tier magical beasts.
In terms of strength, defense, and mana intensity alone, this Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf far surpassed his current abilities.
But that didn’t mean he had no chance.
After all, a magical beast was still a magical beast.
Although its attacks were ferocious, they were nowhere near as flexible and unpredictable as those of human professionals.
Moreover, Victor looked at the dark purple mana continuously flowing across its body, and the corners of his mouth suddenly curved upward.
"You like devouring mana?"
"What a coincidence."
"So do I."
The next moment, he charged forward!
The Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf let out a low growl. Its four limbs suddenly exerted force, transforming its enormous body into a black afterimage as it lunged straight toward him.
The two collided violently in the middle of the rocky forest!
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Sword light and sharp claws crossed repeatedly. Blazing flames exploded continuously, leaving the ground within dozens of meters riddled with craters.
Victor had already pushed his speed to the limit.
With eighty points of Agility, combined with the instantaneous displacement provided by Shadow Blink, he could repeatedly change his attack angle within an extremely short period.
Even so, he gradually began falling into a disadvantage.
The Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf’s body was simply too powerful.
Ordinary sword strikes could barely inflict any effective damage, and every direct collision forced Victor to withstand an impact far beyond his own strength.
After barely a dozen breaths, a claw grazed his left shoulder, instantly tearing through his robe as blood flowed down his arm.
"ROAR!"
The Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf seemed to sense his weakness, and its attacks immediately became even more violent.
Its enormous front claw came crashing down!
Victor raised his sword horizontally to block.
BOOM!
The ground suddenly collapsed!
His body was directly forced into a pit half a meter deep, and intense pain shot through both his legs.
At the same time, the Abyssal Bone Spike Wolf opened its enormous bloody mouth and lunged toward his head!
If those jaws closed around him, death would be certain!
