(Reina's Perspective)

"It's been an entire day but neither of them has woken up and one has even turned into a fox."

I looked at the figures lying in the room and couldn't help but fall into my memories.

Yesterday, after I smelled the scent of blood,

I moved closer to the source cautiously. But the closer I got, the stronger the smell of blood became.

After passing around the rocks, I finally saw the source of the smell.

It was two people, one boy and one girl.

The boy had brown hair and delicate facial features. He should be around my age but his clothes were already torn and his body was covered in blood. His breathing was weak, but he was still alive.

The girl however had golden hair, fox ears, and a tail stained with blood and mud. Her face was pale, and she was lying quietly on the grass as if she had simply fallen asleep.

"W-What... happened to them?"

I quickly looked around but I didn't find any monsters and breathed a sigh of relief.

If monsters smelled such a heavy smell of blood, then these two would be in trouble.

No, not just them, even I would be in trouble

I tightened my grip on the small sword at my waist and carefully approached them.

"Hey... can you hear me?"

Unfortunately, I didn't receive any response. Both the girl and the boy were silent. If not for the fact I could see the rise and fall in their chest, I would have thought they were dead.

I hesitated for a moment before crouching beside the boy first and checked his injuries.

His injuries were terrible. Cuts, burns, and traces of unknown magic power lingered around his wounds. Most of his wounds had already stopped bleeding, but others were still slowly leaking blood.

Next, I checked the girl.

"What kind of battle did he go through...?"

This boy, he clearly looked to be of same age as her. How did he gain such serious injuries?

I don't understand. But i knew that both the boy needed treatment.

Unfortunately, although I am a Second Order Mage and a Martial Artist, I don't major in Light Attribute and don't know any healing magic.

"If only Aina were here..."

I sighed and turned to check the girl's situation.

Compared to the boy, her external injuries looked lighter. Though she was also injured in many places and her clothes were also torn here and there, her injury wasn't fatal.

"First, stop the bleeding."

I opened my herb basket and took out a few common medicinal leaves.

They were only Zero Grade herbs, but they could at least slow down bleeding and reduce pain.

I crushed the leaves with clean river water and carefully applied them to the boy's wounds.

The moment the medicine touched one of his deeper wounds, a faint black mist suddenly rose and entangled my fingers, giving me a tingling feeling.

"Hiss—"

I pulled my hand back in shock and the black mist disappeared quickly, but my fingers still felt cold.

"Reina-chan, don't touch that boy's wound. It's dangerous."

"Master Cecilia..."

Hearing the sudden voice, I turned my head, only to a translucent figure floating next to me.

She was Cecilia Angrot, a mage from ancient times.

Three years ago, she awakened from her slumber and accepted me as her disciple because of my talent.

Of course, when I first heard her say that, I almost thought I had gone mad. After all, who would believe that an ancient mage's soul was sleeping inside the old pendant left by their mother?

I even thought that she might be some kind of Evil Spirit and asked a priest for a Baptism.

Later, I understood she wasn't some Evil Spirit but truly a Mage from Ancient times.

Because of this, I was very embarrassed and apologised to her for a very long time and accepted her as my teacher.

In the past three years, she has taught me everything from Ancient magic to Ancient martial artist to Rune arts to medicinal arts, etc.

It was thanks to her that I could maintain the Astrea family until now. So I believed in her.

Looking at her, I asked, "Master Cecilia, what is this?"

Cecilia floated beside me and looked at the boy with a rare serious expression.

"This is not ordinary injury. I don't know how he came into contact with it but his injury contains corrupted magic power and laws of an Evil.God."

"Evil God?"

"Yes."

Hearing her confirmation, I couldn't help but be shocked.

Master Cecilia had taught me about the Evil God. They were terrifying existences that could possibly destroy the entire world if they descended in their true body.

Even Ancient Gods had difficulty fighting then.

"How is he still alive?"

"That is what I want to know too. This boy's body should have collapsed already. His bones, organs, tendons are all damaged. But something inside him is forcibly keeping him alive."

"Unfortunately, I haven't recovered completely, otherwise i could have investigated this boy clearly."

"T-that... Master, can I save him?"

"You?" Cecilia glanced at me and shook her head, "There is no need to save him because this boy's vitality is quite terrifying. Coupled with that unknown power, he should be able to awaken after a few days of coma."

"A few days..."

I breathed a sigh of relief. Although a few days of coma sounded serious, compared with death, it was already very good.

But before I could fully relax, Master Cecilia turned her gaze toward the fox girl beside him.

"Compared to him, that girl is more troublesome."

"Her injury is worse?"

"Her physical injuries are not serious." Cecilia shook her head, "But her Spiritual Power has almost dried up. No, it is more accurate to say that it was overdrawn."

"She used power far beyond what her soul could bear."

Cecilia's gaze slowly moved toward the golden bell ring on the girl's finger.

"Then Master can she wake up?"

"Hm, she will wake up eventually. But it's hard to say when. Her soul has fallen into a deep sleep. It may take months, years, or even longer."

I couldn't help but fall silent.
