"It’s absolutely true. I heard that bastard Gong Ye found his great opportunity right here."

"If he could find it, there’s no reason we can’t."

The man called Brother Jiu had an effeminate face with a hint of cunning. They say your face reflects your heart, and one look at him told you he wasn’t easy to get along with.

Both of them were from the Snake Clan. Gong Ye, who had originally been cast aside, had suddenly risen to power, turning the Snake Clan into the laughingstock of the entire Demon Realm and making him an enemy of every clan member.

It was because of this news that they hoped to find their own opportunity here. Once they awakened their Jiao-Dragon bloodline, it would be Gong Ye’s turn to suffer.

"Let’s search the area first. If you find anything, call me immediately!"

Having agreed on a plan, the two began to search the surroundings.

The moment they appeared, Song Wanning opened her eyes.

She gave their Cultivation levels a quick scan, got a measure of their strength, and closed her eyes to continue absorbing the demonic energy.

After about ten minutes, the two had searched the entire area. Finding nothing, they grew annoyed and started smashing things around outside to vent their frustration.

"Why should he be the one to awaken his bloodline? I’m clearly better than him in every way!"

Rage burned in Brother Jiu’s heart. He had gone to so much trouble to find the place where Gong Ye had awakened his bloodline, only to come up with nothing. How could he accept this?

He had clearly been the superior choice in every respect. A piece of trash like Gong Ye wasn’t even worthy of his notice.

But now? He had become the very trash that others said was outshone by Gong Ye.

"Brother Jiu, there’s a cave over there. Should we go take a look?"

Suddenly, the other Snake Demon spoke up.

Brother Jiu had just finished venting his anger. At these words, his sharp gaze shot toward the cave where Song Wanning was.

The cave was very well hidden, completely covered by vegetation. On top of that, Song Wanning had even placed an Array Plate to divert attention. To her surprise, the Snake Demon had still discovered it.

"Let’s go, we’ll check it out!"

Brother Jiu narrowed his eyes. ’He hadn’t noticed such a large cave.’

’This cave must be special. Maybe the key to awakening a bloodline is inside!’

The two flew rapidly toward the cave.

After pushing aside the vines at the entrance, they found Song Wanning meditating.

At that moment, specks of demonic energy were beginning to gather around Song Wanning. This, combined with her stunningly beautiful and delicate face, left the two of them momentarily stunned.

A few seconds later, they snapped back to their senses and demanded, "Who are you? You’re not one of our Demon Race!"

Although she had a trace of demonic energy on her, her aura was still completely different from that of the Demon Race.

’She’s an outsider!’

The two instantly became vigilant, staring at Song Wanning with wary expressions.

Song Wanning remained seated on the ground, opening her eyes with a placid expression.

"I am just passing through and borrowing this cave to cultivate for a bit."

She recognized them as Snake Demons with a single glance, a thoughtful look flashing in her eyes.

The Snake Clan’s status in the Demon Race was only average. This was because their strength was generally mediocre, far inferior to that of raptors and other ferocious beasts, and the bloodlines they could awaken were extremely limited. As a result, their power had dwindled with each passing generation.

Song Wanning had no intention of making a move. As long as the two didn’t provoke her, she could pretend they didn’t exist.

Unfortunately, it was clear the two could not accept Song Wanning’s presence here.

"You’re from the Human Clan?"

Brother Jiu’s eyes scanned Song Wanning up and down, a flash of anger in their depths.

"Have you forgotten the rules between our Demon Race and the Human Clan?"

The two races were mortal enemies!

It was then that an idea sparked in Brother Jiu’s mind.

’Song Wanning’s Cultivation is high. If I eat her, my own level will definitely increase!’

’The seniors always said that human flesh and blood is a great tonic, incredibly beneficial for our Demon Race!’

At this thought, a glint appeared in Brother Jiu’s eyes, as if he could already see himself advancing to the next stage.

The Snake Demon beside him had a similar gleam in his eyes; he had clearly reached the same conclusion as Brother Jiu.

Of course, such simple-minded greed could not be hidden from Song Wanning.

She keenly sensed the greed in their eyes and let out a soft chuckle.

’I didn’t want to start a massacre, but if these two Snake Demons are going to serve themselves up on a platter, they have no one to blame but themselves.’

"And so what if I am?"

she replied airily, remaining cross-legged on the ground without any intention of standing up.

"So what? Hmph!"

Brother Jiu sneered, "Since you’ve trespassed into the territory of my Demon Race, you’ll become our food."

"Hahaha—"

With that, he waved his hand, and he and the Demon Cultivator beside him charged toward Song Wanning.

The instant they launched themselves into the air, two massive black pythons shot upward, flicking their long tongues and whipping their powerful tails viciously at Song Wanning.

Song Wanning’s expression turned sharp. Her figure vanished from the ground, and using a Space Rune, she instantly teleported directly above Brother Jiu’s head.

Then, she slammed a fist down on him.

Her fist flashed with light, radiating a dangerous aura.

Brother Jiu’s blood ran cold. Realizing the danger, he immediately tried to flee, but it was too late.

"BOOM—"

With a deafening explosion, Brother Jiu’s serpentine head burst apart. A bloody mist sprayed in all directions, and the stench of blood quickly filled the cave.

"Brother Jiu?!!!"

The remaining black snake was scared out of its wits. It scrambled to fly out of the cave, only to be thrown back by an Array the very next second.

Seeing this, the Snake Demon fell into despair. It immediately shifted back to its human form and fell to its knees before Song Wanning with a THUD.

"Senior, please spare me! I’m willing to be your demonic pet. As long as you let me live, I’ll do anything!"

His face was a mask of terror. Who could have imagined that Brother Jiu, considered a genius in their clan, would be killed with a single punch to the head by this person?

Faced with such power, he couldn’t muster the slightest will to resist. His only thought was to survive.

Hearing this, Song Wanning descended from mid-air and studied him with a cold expression.

’I do need a demonic pet right now. It would help conceal my identity better.’

’But this Demon Cultivator...’

She pondered for a moment before giving a soft "Mm."

"If you are obedient, I can spare your life for now."

"But if you get any other ideas, then..."

"Don’t worry, Master! I would never betray you!"

The Snake Demon immediately shook his head and, without a second thought, offered up his Divine Soul to voluntarily sign a Master-Servant Contract with Song Wanning.

It was clear he was truly terrified of death.

Seeing how cooperative he was, Song Wanning raised an eyebrow slightly.

’In that case, I’ll take him for now.’

So, she contracted the Snake Demon, named him She Yi, and then ordered him to dig out Brother Jiu’s inner core.

She Yi shuddered violently and looked up at Song Wanning with a pitiful expression.

Unfortunately for him, Song Wanning didn’t even spare him a glance.

With a conflicted expression, She Yi could only dig out his Brother Jiu’s inner core with his own hands and present it to Song Wanning.
