Chapter 476 - 483: Huo Jinchuan Exposed

Meanwhile, at the foot of Beheading Cliff, Huo Jinchuan had already brought the male cultivator before the Array.

The male cultivator was dangling in his grip like a frightened quail, his face a mask of terror. Where had all his previous arrogance gone?

He had recognized Huo Jinchuan and began to tremble. "Mr. Huo," he stammered, "d-did I do something wrong?"

Huo Jinchuan shot him a cold glance, his eyes flashing with disgust.

’A nobody like this... In the past, he wouldn’t have been worth a second glance.’

’But I can’t venture too far right now. Someone like this will have to do. His luck isn’t terrible, though it’s not particularly outstanding either.’

’At the very least, it’s a lot better than his unlucky sister’s.’

He didn’t say a word. Instead, he simply tossed the man, who landed right in the middle of the Array.

The man cried out in alarm. He hit the ground with a THUD but didn’t dare yelp in pain.

He pushed himself to his feet, and just as he was about to speak, shimmering Array Patterns materialized around him.

A second later, he was trapped inside the Array, looking utterly frantic.

"Mr. Huo, what is the meaning of this?"

"Mr. Huo, there must be some misunderstanding! I didn’t mean to harm my sister! She tormented me for years—I was forced to fight back!"

"Really, I’m not a bad person! Mr. Huo, please, spare me this once!"

The man bowed repeatedly, the Array around him sending a tremor through his very soul.

He didn’t want to die.

But Huo Jinchuan never once glanced his way. ’Talking to this trash is a complete waste of my energy.’

He activated the Array, his gaze fixed intently on the man, eagerly awaiting the results.

Pinned by that gaze, the man’s heart hammered with a fear so intense it felt like death. When his endless pleading proved useless, his composure shattered, and he began to curse wildly.

But it was no use. He felt as if something had locked onto him, followed by a terror that seeped deep into his soul, completely enveloping him.

And yet, he was completely unharmed, with no visible change to his body.

The man’s face was ashen. He was certain he was done for.

As time ticked by, the man’s luck began to visibly deteriorate, and the Array, acting as a conduit, began transferring it to Huo Jinchuan.

Only when the man’s luck had turned completely pitch-black did Huo Jinchuan stop.

Huo Jinchuan deactivated the Array. He closed his eyes, savoring the feeling for a moment, and a satisfied smile spread across his face.

’Centuries of planning weren’t for nothing. This Array truly transferred that man’s luck to me!’

’Now, as long as I lure in people with abundant luck, everything will be within my control.’

"Hahahahaha—"

Huo Jinchuan couldn’t stop laughing. It was the first time he had laughed with such abandon since he’d transmigrated. His voice was the only sound at the foot of the cliff.

Trembling, the man steadied himself. ’Huo Jinchuan must be insane,’ he thought.

He wasn’t injured, and the Array had disappeared. This was his chance to escape.

He immediately bolted. But he hadn’t gotten far when a golden eagle suddenly swooped down and snatched him up in its talons.

The golden eagle was enormous and its Cultivation was high; the man was no match for it.

He screamed in despair, "No—!"

Then, the eagle carried him into the sky before diving down to land on the cliff’s edge.

The golden eagle opened its massive beak and swallowed him whole.

All that remained was the man’s desperate, terrified screams.

Hearing the commotion, Huo Jinchuan glanced up, his expression indifferent.

’This is what happens when your luck hits rock bottom. You could trip and die just walking, or choke to death drinking a sip of water.’

His own luck, on the other hand, had improved considerably.

Eager to test it, Huo Jinchuan began to wander around the base of the cliff. Sure enough, he soon made a new discovery.

He felt a flicker of joy. His fortune had been terrible lately, and his luck had been steadily declining. Now, it was finally starting to recover.

’I wonder where that woman Song Wanning is.’

His face darkened. He was obsessed with Song Wanning’s luck, coveting it deeply.

’Whatever. Once I’ve fully recovered, I’ll go settle the score with her.’

Huo Jinchuan quickly calmed himself. ’Clashing head-on with Song Wanning right now would only hurt me.’

’I should focus on restoring my luck first!’

And so, in the days that followed, he began searching the surrounding area for new targets.

At first, he confined his search to the great mountain, but there were too few people there. Gradually, he began preying on the nearby cities.

By the time Song Wanning finished her pill refinement and emerged, she had heard the news.

’Huo Jinchuan has really lost his mind. How long has it been, and he’s already captured so many people?’

’Isn’t he afraid of damning himself for all eternity?’

Song Wanning’s heart sank. She immediately took out a Memory Stone. It contained a recording of the exact moment Huo Jinchuan abducted the male cultivator.

Looking at the incriminating evidence Huo Jinchuan had practically handed to her, she let out a bitter laugh.

’I wonder if Huo Jinchuan and Huo Yang will like this little gift?’

’I certainly do.’

...

"Did you hear? Huo Jinchuan, the Huo Family Patriarch’s son, has been secretly kidnapping people! No one knows where he’s taking them!"

"You saw the Memory Stone, too?"

"Of course! He must be the one who took all those missing people!"

"Gasp! But Huo Jinchuan is the next Clan Leader of the Huo Family. Why would he do something like that? Could someone be framing him?"

"I don’t think so. Who could fake something like that? Anyway, the person we saw looked exactly like Huo Jinchuan!"

"Heh, your information is already old news. Do you know who Huo Jinchuan snatched last night?"

"Who?"

"The City Lord’s son..."

"What? Is he insane?"

"Huo Jinchuan has some serious nerve!"

"What is he trying to do? Is he some kind of Evil Cultivator or something?"

The crowd broke into a flurry of discussion about the recent, worrying events.

At first, no one paid much mind to a few disappearances. But as the numbers grew, people started to take it seriously.

But no one had expected the kidnapper to be Huo Jinchuan.

Nor did they imagine he would be so audacious as to kidnap the City Lord’s son—the City Lord’s *only* son!

However, just as the crowd was wondering, a death knell suddenly tolled from the direction of the City Lord Mansion. Immediately, countless figures flew out from the mansion, radiating an endless killing intent as they sped toward the great mountain.

The crowd instantly fell silent. Only after the figures had vanished into the distance did they begin to talk again.

"Was that a death knell? For the City Lord, or his son?"

"Gasp... The City Lord went after him last night and still hasn’t returned. I wonder what happened..."

The crowd exchanged shocked glances.

This time, Huo Jinchuan was finished.

Even if the Huo Family tried its utmost to protect him, there would be no saving his life.

The Huo Family would even have to give the City Lord an explanation. After all, the City Lord was backed by the Murong Family, a power not to be underestimated!
