"You—you—"

When had the Great Elder ever been provoked like this?

Ever since he’d reached the Body Integration Realm, he was revered wherever he went. Even the Huo Clan Leader wouldn’t dare to show him any disrespect.

And now, some junior who had just reached the Out-of-Body Stage was acting so arrogantly. It was infuriating!

"You what?"

Song Wanning’s expression turned cold, and she attacked the Great Elder once more.

Baili Shang was covered in blood. They couldn’t afford to waste any more time.

...

"Huo Jinchuan, let’s see where you can run now!"

The Huo Clan Leader had pursued him relentlessly, cornering Huo Jinchuan once again.

His expression was grim. Who would have thought that dealing with Huo Jinchuan would consume so much of his time and energy?

’Thankfully, things are going smoothly on the Great Elder’s end. If those two escaped, the loss would far outweigh the gain.’

"Huo Yang, are you really going to force me into a dead end?"

At first, Huo Jinchuan had been furious, so angry he felt he would go mad.

But as time went on, he no longer even had the strength to be angry. His expression had grown numb.

He just couldn’t understand what method Huo Yang was using to track him continuously.

"Why? No matter where I hide, you can always find me."

He asked the question again, though he didn’t expect Huo Yang to answer.

But this time, Huo Yang didn’t hide it.

Even if Huo Jinchuan knew, there was no way for him to avoid it.

’It’s time for Huo Jinchuan to face reality.’

"I have the person you found to thank for this. If that woman hadn’t given me a map, I wouldn’t be able to track your position at all times."

"Stop struggling. I can see you no matter where you go."

"You’re doomed to fail."

Huo Yang sneered. ’He wants to fight me?’

’Even the heavens are on my side...’

"What?"

Huo Jinchuan was stunned, unable to process it for a long moment.

He suspected Huo Yang was lying to him.

’How could Song Wanning possibly know my location?’

"Heh. Huo Jinchuan, in your next life, don’t be my son!"

Huo Yang’s patience had long since run out. If not for his desire to utterly annihilate Huo Jinchuan, he wouldn’t have gone to such trouble.

His gaze, filled with disgust, swept over Huo Jinchuan. "Because you are not worthy!"

With that, he lunged at Huo Jinchuan again, a thunderous strike meant to take his life and scatter his ashes to the wind.

Huo Jinchuan’s expression darkened as despair and hatred flashed through his heart.

’I spent hundreds of years in this life painstakingly cultivating, only to be defeated by a woman. How ridiculous.’

With danger upon him and nowhere left to run, he could only brace himself and take the blow head-on.

BOOM—

Huo Jinchuan was sent flying by the palm strike. Immediately after, a flash of light pierced straight through his chest.

Blood sprayed everywhere. In that moment, Huo Jinchuan could feel death approaching.

He no longer had the strength to fight back. He lay on the ground like a dying dog, convulsing.

In that instant, the pain of two lifetimes filled Huo Jinchuan’s eyes, and his Dao heart shattered completely.

’The world is unjust! I’ve tried so hard, so why can’t I change my fate?’

’Why?’

He screamed silently, thrashing like a cornered beast in its death throes.

Huo Yang watched him and smiled cruelly.

’It’s hard to believe this person is my own flesh and blood...’

"Die!"

A cold glint flashed in Huo Yang’s eyes as he struck Huo Jinchuan heavily once more.

"You should have gone to atone to Meng’er long ago!!!"

"Hahahaha—"

He suddenly burst into loud laughter, watching as the final blow descended upon Huo Jinchuan.

But just then, the unexpected happened.

A gleaming door suddenly appeared in the sealed cave. His strike, instead of annihilating Huo Jinchuan, pushed him straight into the Light Gate.

Huo Jinchuan’s figure vanished instantly, and the Light Gate snapped shut as if it had never been there.

Huo Yang was stunned. It was as if everything had been tailor-made for Huo Jinchuan.

Even though he had lost all his strength, he still managed to escape with his life!!!

’What is the meaning of this?’

A great sense of unease rose in Huo Yang’s heart.

’Could it be that the Heavenly Dao is protecting Huo Jinchuan?’

"Dammit!!!"

He furiously bombarded the surrounding cave, quickly reducing it to rubble.

’If Huo Jinchuan is truly under the protection of the Heavenly Dao, then I’m finished.’

’Sooner or later, I will fall to his blade once he’s grown powerful.’

’It’s even possible that I am nothing more than a stepping stone for his growth.’

Realizing this, Huo Yang became utterly enraged.

’Man can conquer heaven!’ He refused to believe he couldn’t kill that bastard Huo Jinchuan.

Huo Yang didn’t give up. He took out the map, intending to search for Huo Jinchuan’s trail, when his Communication Talisman suddenly emitted an unusual pulse.

It was from the Great Elder.

The pulse was extremely urgent, yet not a single word could form, a clear sign that he was in grave trouble.

Huo Yang immediately thought of Song Wanning and Baili Shang, his face twisting for a moment.

’Did those two run off again?’

With a grim face, he sent a message to the Great Elder via his Communication Talisman.

"Don’t be rash. Just follow them for now. We’ll decide how to capture them after I arrive."

Song Wanning and Baili Shang had many Magical Treasures on them; he was afraid the Great Elder would be at a disadvantage.

After replying, he checked Huo Jinchuan’s position again. The red dot on the map was flickering, making it hard to see clearly.

He narrowed his eyes. ’That damned brat must have entered some kind of Space Fragment, making the tracking inaccurate.’

The situation was urgent. He frowned in indecision, unsure which target to pursue first.

When the Great Elder sent a second pulse, and still no coherent message came through, Huo Yang’s heart skipped a beat.

A sense of crisis welled up, making him flustered and unable to calm down.

"Something’s wrong. This isn’t right. Could the Great Elder be in danger?"

Huo Yang’s instincts told him something was amiss. His brow furrowed, and without further hesitation, he rushed toward the forbidden grounds.

"You have to hold on! I’m on my way!"

"If you’re in danger, hide immediately! Don’t fight them head-on!"

He sent several more messages with his Communication Talisman, flying while worrying that something had gone wrong.

However, outside the forbidden grounds, a bitter smile appeared on the Great Elder’s face when he received the message.

’Hide?’

’It’s too late for that.’

The Great Elder lay on the ground, his injuries catastrophic.

Not far away, the doppelgangers of Baili Shang and Song Wanning had also collapsed, their Spiritual Energy and Demonic Qi completely depleted. Their injuries were even more severe.

They were all on the verge of death.

This was also why the Great Elder had been able to break through the Array and send a message to Huo Yang. The masters of the Array could no longer sustain it, so its power had weakened.

But at that moment, Song Wanning’s main body was standing perfectly fine. Aside from a slightly dirty hem on her clothes, she was completely unscathed.
