Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction

Chapter 7: So, wanna hunt a monster real quick?

Hearing Kanan’s words warmed her heart. She was so happy to have someone as kind as Kanan in her life. "Even if I’m not your mate?" She asked

"You’re my family, but if you have my child, then we’ll be even more family. Don’t worry, Aunt Glena, I’ll always take care of you."

"Hmph, I should be the one saying that." But she was happy that he didn’t mind. She felt a bit selfish for wanting Kanan to cum inside her. She had lost her mate, and her opportunity to bear a child went along with him.

In their culture, it’s uncommon for mated women to find a second mate once they reach a certain age. As she was 30, her generation already had children, some being Kanan’s age at most.

Her time to bear children was nearly over. Some men would seek out an older, mated woman, but that rarely happened.

Even younger women, around their mid-20s, who lost their mate, found it hard to find another one, especially if they lived with their parents still.

Glena was such a woman. She had lost her father while she was young, so anyone who became her mate would have to take care of her mother as well. Dilon, Kanan’s cousin, didn’t mind. Her mother did pass away a few years later after falling ill, though.

The same applied to men as well.

"Okay, dear, you can pull out now."

"Oh." Kanan took his dick out of Glena, and semen gushed out like a stream.

"Wow. You’re very healthy, Kanan. You’ll get a woman pregnant in no time!"

He didn’t know how to respond, so he just nodded.

"Though, with the curse going around, I don’t think I’ll be getting pregnant any time soon."

Right. Kanan forgot. A while ago, before he was born, their tribe went to war with another. During that time, the rival tribe cursed Kanan’s tribe with a weaker generation, which resulted in lower birth rates and weaker blessings.

’Wait, could this also be a part of the reason why I have this system? To break that curse? System, answer.’

[Details will be shared during the blessing ceremony.]

’Dammit. I guess I’ll just continue to gather information about tasks.’

"Why don’t you say we head to bed, okay, dear?"

Kanan nodded and went to get their covers. "U-Um, Auntie Glena."

"Yes?"

"Do you want to mate with me every night? T-That way I can learn more from you, a-and you could maybe end up pregnant."

She didn’t wish to show it, but Glena was extremely happy.

That night, the two of them cuddled together until falling asleep.

---

Kanan didn’t hunt today; he didn’t need to. There was enough food to last the week, enough wood to last a month, and honestly, he wasn’t in the mood to get his hands soaked in blood after having such an amazing night.

"Ahh, good morning, nature. My eyes have finally been opened to the real world. Yup, that’s right, I’m a man now. A fully fledged, super handsome, extremely—"

"Oh, Kanan. Nice seeing you this morning. Say, come to my hut so I can give you a checkup." Yala spotted Kanan as she passed by.

"S-Sure."

When they arrived at her hut, Yala checked his head and back to confirm that there were no lingering injuries from his encounter with nature the other day.

She concluded that he was perfectly fine and wouldn’t need to worry about any long-lasting injuries.

"Healer Yala, can I ask you a question?"

"Hmm? Sure."

Kanan got off the stool and walked next to the beautiful woman. "Can I hold one of your herbs?"

"Oh? My herbs? I don’t think that’s a good idea. These are vital to our village, so we have to be very careful when handling them."

"I see." He knew that, but Kanan wanted to know if he could register them in his system like the animals. Caught up in hunting, he didn’t even think about testing it with plants. He also doubted grass would even register. Everyone knew what grass was.

"You can look at them if you’re interested." She offered

Kanan did so, expecting the system to pop up once more. He gazed at a blacksmith working, so if he gazed at an herbalist working, then...

[Registering Role: Herbalism - Tap for more details]

’Yes! It worked! I just have to see a person working, and their task appears in the system! While I don’t have information on the type of herbs that exist, I know the general information about herbalism as a whole! This is great!’

Yala turned around to check up on another patient, her duty for the day not yet complete. So, taking advantage of this moment, Kanan tapped the herb gently, registered it in his system, then took it out and placed it back on the table.

[Jade Root - The roots of the Jade flower that can be crushed and ground into a powder. When mixed with water, it makes a tonic that can cure minor paralysis.]

’Amazing! I not only know what the Jade Root does, but I also know where to find it and how to grow it! I finally get it! This system is a survival system. It’s telling me to gather information for survival, not just to have it! Or did I come to that conclusion already? Whatever, this is great!’

There were more tasks in the village that he could observe, more that he could learn.

"If I remember correctly, the Roles that come from a blessing are Farmer, Butcher, Herder, Herbalist, Healer, Miner, Craftsman, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Lumberjack, Fisherman, Guard, Hunter, Warrior, and Village Chief." These were just roles that encompassed a variety of tasks. So warriors had analytical abilities and so on.

’I’ll make sure to continue gathering information on each Role.’

---

Kanan wondered what Role he wanted to copy today after leaving Yala’s healing hut. Currently, he had the Roles of a Herbalist, Healer, Miner, and Blacksmith registered in his system.

Meeting with the Chief wasn’t that easy, so Kanan put that role in the back of his mind for now. The Village Farm was very accessible, so that was what Kanan thought about doing first, but the Lumberjack role was also on his mind.

As he continued to think about what he wanted to do, he spotted a familiar face walking past him with a bronze sword dangling at the young man’s hip.

"Hey, Terin." Kanan greeted his peer.

"Kanan, hey. How’s your injury? I heard you were hurt."

"I’m fine. Healer Yala cleared me."

"That’s great! I knew you wouldn’t get put down by some minor injury! What are you up to currently?"

"About to head to the farm to see if they need any help. You?"

"I’m going to hunt a monster."

Kanan paused. Monsters were animals that possessed spirit energy and evolved into greater creatures. They weren’t easy to hunt, though this didn’t mean all monsters were equally strong and intelligent.

"A monster? Isn’t that dangerous?"

"Yes. But I wish to grow strong so I can become a warrior who can protect this village. Have you heard that there was an intruder in our land from the Typhon Tribe?"

"Yeah. I was actually attacked by them, but Lord Nemean saved me."

"What? How lucky. I wish I was attacked by them and protected by Lord Nemean. But anyway, I want to defend our home and people. So, I need to get stronger. Would you like to join me?"

Kanan didn’t know if Terin was weird or insane. Probably both.

"I don’t know, man. If you wished to hunt, then I’d be on board, but this is a monster we’re talking about. You know that only those who have gone through the Blessing Ceremony are allowed to hunt monsters. And even then, only warriors, guards, and hunters mostly fight them."

"I know, I know." Terin gripped the hilt of his blade while his expression darkened. "But I don’t wish to be weak! I want to defend our home, so that event never happens again." He referred to the day when their village was attacked by the Typhon Tribe ten years ago.

Kanan understood how Terin felt. He felt the same way, in fact. But the difference was that Kanan knew his limits. He could fight, yes, but only enough to defend himself, not to kill a monster.

"Please, Kanan. It would be great if you were with me. Your hunting skills are second to none in our generation. Having you with me will give me some peace of mind. Besides, together, we can take on the monster I wish to hunt!"

Kanan thought about it for a few more seconds before giving his answer. "Fine! But if things get dangerous, we turn back right away, okay?"

"Yes! Yes, let’s go!"
