Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction

Chapter 37: Let’s get that wall up and operational

Kanan and Viola had cleaned up their little mess, making their way to the bath to clean themselves and soak in the water. It was hot, but Kanan didn’t care, nor did Viola. It was simply a nice way to soak away the tension in the muscles.

"Ahh, this is nice." Kanan exhaled.

"You feel nice." Viola sat on Kanan’s lap, not because there was no room for her to sit somewhere else, but because his lap was the best spot.

"What’s your schedule looking like tomorrow? Any meeting with the Chief and Elders?" She wondered

"Not that I know of. I’m to learn of my abilities first. After that, I start helping with Village affairs."

Viola chuckled, looking up at her mate. "Like having tons of kids!"

"Yeah, I guess. But it’s more than that."

"I know. I’m just teasing. How do you feel about it, having many kids?"

"Well, this is Nemean’s blessing, so I can’t help but feel honored to be able to enact his will. As for the children I’ll be having with the village women, the chief told me yesterday that a new building will be constructed where they will live. They will be blessings from Nemean."

This meant that his children wouldn’t be raised by the mother’s family but by the whole village. This didn’t mean the mother of her family couldn’t visit the child, but they wouldn’t be exclusively raising the child.

Kanan actually really liked this, because this meant that he could visit his children at all times. And he didn’t really like the idea of another man raising his kid, God’s blessing or not. Fucking another man’s wife and getting her pregnant, though––yeah, he had no problems with that.

"Will you visit them?"

"All the time."

"What about Omula? Plan on making her your next mate? I wouldn’t mind. She’s nice. I’m still your number one, though." She turned around to kiss Kanan on the cheek.

"For now, I don’t have any plans on making her my mate. But I’m not against it. I want to get used to everything first before I take any more steps."

"If you ever feel stressed, just know that I’m here for you, okay? I’ll always have your back, so don’t forget to rely on me as well."

It was comforting to hear Viola say that. He truly loved her with all his heart. "I know, thanks. You’re the best."

"Hehe, don’t let Glena hear that."

Glena walked in. "Hear what?"

"AHHHHHH!"

"How is everything coming along?" Chief Solan asked Kanan as they watched the village workers build the wall.

Although not all of the materials were gathered, enough of it was to build the base of the massive wall around the Village that Kanan suggested.

Looking at the blueprints, Kanan nodded, directing the carpenters, craftsmen, and builders as they worked together.

There was no builder role, so the villagers learned how to build to survive, and they were really good at it. So no matter what role a person had, they could still be a builder.

Things were coming along nicely, and within a few weeks, the base of the eastern wall should be finished. The only reason why it would take weeks is because of the materials.

’Having abilities really does make things go by faster, huh?’ Kanan thought as he watched a man levitate large stones and logs.

"Everything is coming along nicely. They’re following the blueprints perfectly. Lord Nemean thinks of everything, because it’s very convenient to transfer the blueprints into their heads from my...ability." He nearly said system.

"Yes. Haha! Lord Nemean is great, isn’t he? I just wish that Elder Warren was still here to see us start to prosper."

Kanan had learned about Elder Warren as well as the people who left with him. Kanan didn’t think he could blame Elder Warren, especially after learning what the Typhon Tribe had done to his family.

Still, if he had waited just an extra month or two, then he would have seen how Kanan’s existence would lead to the betterment of their tribe.

But there was no way Warren could see the future, so there was no need to dwell on the what-ifs or could-have-beens.

"Do you think Elder Warren will...die?"

Solan didn’t answer right away because he didn’t wish to imagine his friend dead. Yet, he couldn’t shake the thought as it had crossed his mind over and over again.

"I won’t lie and say that no. A lot of people don’t know this, but the texts say that the outside world beyond the mountains is very dangerous."

"Yeah, because of the monsters, right?"

The chief shook his head. "The monsters close to the mountains are the least of our problems. A while back, around the era of Warrior Sala, creatures beyond the stars fell onto our world. Lord Nemean the First sent his son, Lord Nemean the Second, to deal with them."

"Oh, and this is when Lord Nemean the Second met Warrior Sala?"

"Indeed. Lord Nemean the Second got rid of the threat, but the damage remained. I don’t really understand much, but from what I do understand, the monsters beyond the mountain are just one of the many dangers that exist out there. This is why every tribe exists north of the mountains."

The Mountain range wrapped around the southern part of the village, across the river, and around the forest. Even the Typhon Tribe existed north of the mountains. Yet even in this safe space, some places were hard to live in.

"Do you think we will leave this area?" Kanan wondered

"Hahaha! Of course not! We’ve been here for thousands of years, and we’ll stay here for thousands more years. Making what we have better is the future, like what we’re doing right now."

Kanan hoped that was the case. For now, he would see how things played out with the Typhon Tribe. The system had ’growth’ in its name, so he knew that expansion was inevitable. But how much they expanded was up for questioning.

"Don’t you have to train, Kanan?"

"Ughh! I was hoping you would forget about that. Now I gotta go back to experiencing that stupid Spirit Energy Reflux. Fuck."
