Glena was working on the farm and wanted to meet the quota of the day, so Kanan and Omula decided to head to Viola’s location first. Kanan memorized her schedule so he knew that she would have a half day today.

Along the way, the two of them were greeted by almost everyone who happened to pass by them. The future Chief of the village, alongside the Shaman, was a powerful sight. Two leaders of the village.

Kanan stayed humble while Omula was used to the attention, being the chief’s daughter and all.

"E-Excuse me, sir?" A woman in her mid-20s walked up to Kanan, slightly blushing. Her arms were behind her back, and her thighs rubbed together.

Kanan didn’t think that being called ’Sir’ at his age was something he would get used to. He wasn’t old in the slightest! In fact, the beautiful woman in front of him was older than he was.

"You can just call me Kanan. I don’t think I’m old enough to be called sir, heh."

"Okay, then. Kanan, can I serve you?"

"Serve me?" He didn’t think he needed a servant.

"Yes. I wish to bear your child. Everyone was shocked when you became a Shaman, and we know that it’s your duty to spread your seed for the next generation to be strong. So, I wish to be one of the women you spread your seed to."

’Ah, that’s what she meant.’

"For now, I’m not to spread my seed until I’ve gotten a grasp on my abilities. Also, it’s the chief and elders who will be choosing the woman I mate with. But when the time comes, I’ll make sure to look for you since you are eager to bear my child."

"Really?!" At first, she was slightly disappointed, but after saying that he would look for her, she felt her heart beat faster than she could process.

"Yes, I don’t see why not. You’re helping me fulfill my role after all."

"Thank you for the opportunity! I will let my mate know the good news!" She ran off like a happy little girl.

Omula chuckled and gently elbowed Kanan on the arm. "You’re already popular."

"I don’t think this is popularity. She is just trying to help with my duty."

"Think of it however you wish."

The two continued to the mine, greeting people along the way. Some women tried to ask Kanan to mate with them, but he informed them that an announcement would be made soon.

Ten minutes later, they finally arrived at the mine.

Viola was walking out, sweat dripping down her face. Her clothing was drenched, her face covered in dirt, and she panted heavily after working hard.

"Viola!" Kanan waved, getting her attention.

The way her face brightened upon seeing her mate made Kanan smile warmly. He truly liked Viola, and he was happy that they would be together now.

"Kanan!" She said, rushing over to him. "Did you come to see me?"

"I did. Now that I’m a Shaman, I have my own hut. It’s pretty big, so I was wondering if you wish to move in with me?"

"Yes! Of course! Absolutely! You didn’t even need to ask! Can I get my things and bring them over to your hut now?"

"Mhmm. Let’s go."

Viola ran all the way back to the mine to put up her pickaxe, then ran back to Kanan. "By the way, Kanan, what’s Omula doing here? Is she an escort?"

Omula grinned, hugged Kanan’s arm, and pressed her body onto his. "No, I’m his mate, just like you. So, I’m moving in as well."

One would think that this would spark a rivalry or make Viola upset, but her reaction was quite the opposite.

"Your mate, like me? Wow! First, you move up in status, then you get another mate as well? Your new role must be super important to support a second mate! You’re amazing, Kanan."

Having multiple mates came with challenges, but if one could support them, then it was seen as an accomplishment.

"The role of the Shaman is akin to the village chief. I’m basically a village leader. So, yeah, I think my new role is very important." And that role would be needed in the near future.

"But she’s just joking. We’re not mates, and she’s not moving in." He clarified.

"Not yet," Omula added.

A quick glance at his system showed Kanan the amount of time he had left until his village was attacked. It still said three months, so he wasn’t worried for the time being.

’But this doesn’t mean I can just sit back and relax. I must fully learn how to control my blessing to ensure that we survive.’ Training was the next step to survival.

Terris was extremely happy that Viola was living with Kanan now. The process of getting Viola’s belongings and transferring them to Kanan’s new hut should have taken around twenty minutes max, but Terris’s constant crying and hugging of Viola made it take an hour.

Seeing Terris cry happy tears somehow put a heavy responsibility onto Kanan’s shoulders. He wanted to keep those tears flowing, the happiness in them touching his heart. It reminded him of his own family, but in the wrong ways.

Tears of pain and sadness weren’t what he wanted to see on Terris’s face, so he vowed to keep Viola safe and happy to continue to watch Terris cry happy tears once more.

Viola’s brother congratulated him, patted him on the back, and then told Kanan to have fun dealing with his wild sister.

A punch to the gut from her sent him flying into the air.

Her father simply gave Kanan a proud nod. That simple gesture alone spoke a thousand words.

"Bye Mom, bye Dad, I’ll visit often!"

Once Viola had moved in, Kanan went to the farm to inform Glena about the move. She was working hard, wiping sweat from her brow while pulling out potatoes from the ground. She placed them in a large basket that was nearly full and went to put it up for distribution since potatoes went bad pretty fast when left out to the elements.

"I got it." Kanan smiled, picking up the basket of potatoes.

"Kanan? What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you and tell you about something. Walk with me?"

"Sure."
