Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 25: The Blessing Ceremony Part 3
"Ohhh, he’s a craftsman!"
"4 stars as well!"
"Wow! This generation has been extremely great to us!"
"Lord Nemean is truly watching over us!"
"Praise Nemean!"
Out of everyone who had been blessed so far, all of them had gotten their blessings, leaving Kanan as the last one.
Halfway through the ceremony, the village elders had already concluded that this year was a major success. The village had gotten plenty of warriors, hunters, and herbalists, and there was at least one person for each of the existing tasks.
But that wasn’t all. Every single blessed child had gotten no lower than four celestial stars. This alone was the best blessing the village had had in centuries. There was even a good number of six-star blessings.
To the people, this was Nemean answering their prayers. While Kanan felt the same way, he also assumed that this was also to prepare for the upcoming danger their people would face.
"Last up, Kanan."
"Good luck, dear." Glena smiled
"I believe in you, Kanan! You’re going to be a warrior with Seven stars!" Viola said excitedly.
"Yeah." Getting up, Kanan walked over to the Spirit Totem and placed his hand on it.
’This is it, the moment when the system fully awakens!’ A warm energy flowed through his body, and he accepted it fully.

’I see. The system is now fully unlocked, but I still have to go over what it does. That’s okay. I’m sure it will explain the functions that I don’t understand. Nice! Now, once this is over, I can learn more about my role.’
Kanan still felt the energy inside him, flowing wildly, but not dangerously. It had been more than fifteen seconds, yet it didn’t feel that way.
"Oh, so it seems that there was one remaining." A voice rang in Kanan’s mind.
’A voice? The elders didn’t say anything about this.’
"Worry not. Just know that the future is in your hands, child who carries my blood."
’Child who carries your blood? I don’t understand. M-May I ask who you are, sir? Are you Lord Nemean the First or Second?’
"Your system is a gift from me. Lead your people to a brighter future. Lastly, don’t worry about the consequences, as there are none; you can do it as much as you want, even if two of them end up becoming mates. That’s the benefit of having my blood."
’Benefit of having your blood? I don’t get it. Please, Lord Nemean, help me understand.’
"It’s time to go now. Though you will not hear from me again, maybe, I don’t know, I shall be watching. I wish you luck on your journey."
When Kanan finally opened his eyes, his ears weren’t met with the cheers his peers had expierenced. No, he was met with silence that rivaled the dark void above the sky.
He looked around, wondering if anything had happened, if he had done something wrong, but no answers came, at least not right away. The people were too shocked, too stunned to even understand the spectacle they had just witnessed.
"Nemean’s Blood." Someone muttered in the crowd, breaking the silence.
"U-Um, Chief? Did I do something wrong?"
The chief, broken out of his shock, grabbed Kanan by the arms. He wasn’t aggressive, nor did he hurt him. Instead, he grabbed Kanan as if he were making sure he suffered no injuries.
"Kanan! Are you alright?"
"Y-Yes. I’m fine. Can I ask why everyone is quiet?" Even Omula, who scored the best today, looked at Kanan with awe.
"You started floating."
"What?"
"When you touched the Spirit Totem and the power of Nemean flowed through you, your body started to float, and your eyes glowed. I could feel it; we all could. Lord Nemean spoke to you, didn’t he?"
"Yes. I was going to tell you, but I was taken aback by everyone’s reaction."
"Kanan, what did he tell you? You have to tell me right now."
If Kanan could interpret the chief’s emotional state right now, it felt like worry and pity. But there was also a sense of protection and regret.
"H-He called me a child who carries his blood. But I don’t understand. How could I carry his blood when his descendants were lost decades ago?"
"Heh, heheh. He’s watching over us even now. Kanan, your body, it glowed White."
"White? I don’t remember there being a role that had white as its color."
"That’s because we haven’t had one in centuries. White is the role of the Village Shaman. It’s a sacred role that Lord Nemean the Second bestowed upon us during the era of Sala the Great. During that time, the next generation of our people flourished beyond compare. No tribe could stop us."
Kanan had never heard of this before.
"The descendants of Lord Nemean produced strong heirs, and if they happened to be a Village Shaman as well, then they would be more powerful. But one day, our village shaman at the time was killed by the Typhon tribe, who managed to sneak into our village. After that, we lost the descendants of Lord Nemean within three generations."
’Wait. Then...’
"As I said before, your body glowed white, the color of the Village Shaman, a role just as important as the Village Chief. But that wasn’t all; your body was elevated into the air, and your eyes glowed. This only happens if you have the blood of Nemean inside you."
The realization finally hit Kanan all at once.
"Kanan, not only are you the Village Shaman, but you are the last descendant of Nemean who carries his blood."
The last descendant. The final person who carries the blood of their gods in his veins. This was too much, way too much for Kanan to process. He already had the system, and even if he was a village shaman, he could come to terms with that.
However, he also happened to carry divine blood. He went from a person who wanted to protect his home to the most important person in the village within the span of a few hours.
"Kanan." The chief rested his hand on Kanan’s shoulder. "Come with me."
