Chapter 4179 - 4198: Magita Empire
Since the decision has been made, let’s forge ahead!
Lin Chen and Qiu Chan no longer looked at the two powerhouses, quietly lined up in the queue, and moved forward with it.
Soon it was Lin Chen’s turn. Lin Chen took a deep breath and stepped into this splendid starry sky gate.
He had a premonition that this step might take him to a place he absolutely could not imagine.
The familiar feeling of weightlessness enveloped his entire body. In this brief moment, space and time seemed to flow and change, making it impossible to determine where or when he was.
The weightlessness suddenly disappeared, and as Lin Chen’s body tilted forward, he instinctively took a step forward and landed on solid ground.
Lin Chen’s eyes brightened, and the scene in front of him had changed to outdoors.
It was an enormous open space, surrounded by various angular metal buildings. In the open space, quite a few people were standing, wielding weapons resembling energy guns, clad in streamlined battle armor, glaring fiercely at the people.
What caught Lin Chen’s attention was the faces of these people and their hands holding the guns. Their faces were about fifty percent similar to humans, but they bore features of beasts.
Each person’s facial features were different, spears, single horns, fish gills, and even one had hair made of octopus tentacles, looking very bizarre.
Are they the Beastman Clan?
Does the Federation have a Beastman Clan planet?
While Lin Chen was still watching, a soldier in front had already shoved something like a headphone into his hand.
Lin Chen looked ahead and saw that everyone had one in their hand.
Lin Chen examined the object in his hand, a small metal creation with a tiny button and a small crystal screen, which displayed a progress bar similar to battery life.
Lin Chen held it in his hand and glanced back, seeing Qiu Chan just behind him.
Lin Chen breathed a sigh of relief. No matter what, it was good that the two of them hadn’t been separated.
He looked into Qiu Chan’s eyes and saw that she was looking up at the sky. After looking around, her expression became extremely serious.
Lin Chen sighed inwardly. Judging by her expression, this was likely not any place she was familiar with.
Qiu Chan had experienced much, with footprints spanning numerous planets, and then joined the Security Bureau, gaining access to core information of various aspects of the Federation. For her to be so shocked and bewildered, this place was probably outside the Federation.
Forces outside the Federation?
Lin Chen felt a sense of absurdity surge in his heart. He had only been in the Federation for just over ten years. He hadn’t even familiarized himself with the Federation territory yet, and now a simple task had landed him who knows where again?
Alien civilization?
He finally understood why the mysterious person at the rebel secret base was cloaked in a black robe.
This person might also be a Beastman, with beastly features, hence the cloak to completely conceal himself.
Soon, everyone came out of the Teleportation Gate.
To Lin Chen’s surprise, once everyone was out, the Teleportation Gate closed and was actually moved away directly!
This indicated that the force in control of the Teleportation Gate technology was incredibly advanced. They could teleport people to any desired location, even to a ship stationed in space.
In comparison, the Federation’s technology tree, which had initially astonished him, seemed suddenly outdated.
A burly man walked over, with long, thin slits resembling shark gills on his cheeks. His appearance was about seventy percent similar to a human, exuding a cold aura from his whole body.
He stood in front of everyone, took out an identical pair of headphones from his pocket, placed them over his ears, and then pointed at the crowd.
The crowd understood his gesture and promptly placed the small, delicate item over their ears.
As the small objects touched their ears, soft clasps suddenly extended on both sides, securing the device tightly, fitting snugly without causing pain.
Once everyone had equipped the headphones, the man spoke coldly: "What you’re wearing on your ears is a universal language translator for the universe. With it, you can communicate with most cosmic species without any language barrier. Also, your speech will be automatically translated into your listener’s language."
"Seeing your faces full of ignorance and confusion, I’ll briefly explain your current situation."
"This is Cangming Star, a trade planet of the Magita Empire, where forces from all sides gather to trade various items, including living necessities and cultivation resources. Everything is available here."
"My name is Cook, a member of the Shark People and a well-known slave trader on Cangming Star. You are slaves I ordered from the Federation. In our Magita Empire, Federation people are quite popular, except, of course, for useless wastes."
"I’m telling you this just to let you understand one thing: your past has ended, and there is no going back. From now on, your new identity is as slaves. Once a Master buys you, you just need to obediently comply."
"In the Magita Empire, slaves have no human rights. Everything about them belongs to their Master. Your life and death are in your Master’s hands. If he wants you to live, you live. If he wants you to die, you die!"
"For now, you belong to me temporarily. It’s best to cooperate, or I won’t hesitate to eliminate a part of you—it would at most cost me a bit of profit."
"Alright, the lecture is over. From now on, the translator must never be removed. If anyone removes it, it indicates they don’t want to listen, and I will cut off their ear."
"Now, follow my people to my warehouse. Someone will classify you according to your abilities and set a selling price. Show off your skills, and strive to sell yourself at a high price."
Cook’s smile was sinister: "After all, items bought for a high price tend to be cherished more, whereas cheap, casually-bought playthings might only be temporary interests. Once interest fades, your existence might have no value."
Having finished speaking, Cook’s form flew up and quickly disappeared.
One by one, armed soldiers surrounded the group, leading them away from the open ground towards a nearby grand metal building.
Upon reaching the metal building, its true vastness became apparent. The structure was comparable to towering mountains, at least a thousand meters tall, and even more extravagantly wide.
The group was led into the building like small ants crawling into a mountain cave.
Inside the enormous room, various instruments were set up, and a group of Beastman staff awaited the newcomers.
"Everyone, look at the light curtain in front of you. There are instructions displayed."
"You can compare yourself to the conditions listed. When it’s your turn, report your matching conditions. The more conditions you meet, the higher your level, the greater your value, and the higher your price. Consequently, the more attention you’ll receive after being bought back."
"So, for the sake of your future, find your value. However, do not falsify, as all reported abilities will be verified through testing. If found deceitful, the consequences will be severe!"
