Urban Genius Divine Doctor
Chapter 439: Still Daring to Come and Harass
Lu Yuanshan silently cursed Wang Chenning to hell and back, but he ultimately agreed with a pained expression.
“Alright, fine. I’ll figure out a way to convince them!” Lu Yuanshan sighed, having lost his appetite. “You punk, you just love putting people in these difficult situations!”
Wang Chenning looked completely unconcerned. “If the international students have any objections, they can come take it up with my disciples at the place where they’re currently studying and living!”
“You’re not thinking of having them get beaten up, are you?” Lu Yuanshan’s eyes widened. “Do any of your disciples even have a good temper?”
Not only were Wang Chenning’s disciples highly skilled in medicine, but they were also quite proficient in martial arts.
Even his least skilled female disciple could fight off three or four male students, let alone the others.
His twenty-odd disciples, plus Wang Chenning himself, could probably take on all the international students at the Yandu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and send them packing.
“We are the most valuable assets at the Yandu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The best facilities and accommodations should be ours by right. If anyone isn’t convinced, they can let their fists do the talking. No, their achievements.” Wang Chenning told Lu Yuanshan he would submit the design plans to the university, and they just needed to follow his blueprints for the renovation.
“Renovating an apartment building into laboratories? That’ll be a huge hassle!” Lu Yuanshan lamented with a wry smile.
“The apartment building will just be refurnished for my people to live in. It’s the building next door that’s being converted into laboratories!” Wang Chenning pointed to the service building beside the international student dorms. “With the international students gone, this service building becomes redundant. My people have no use for it!”
“You brat!” Lu Yuanshan looked at Wang Chenning, speechless. “Whatever else you want, just say it all at once. Stop hemming and hawing and giving it to me piecemeal. If you want to fence off that lake too, just say the word. I’ll give it to you, alright? I can just have someone dig another lake somewhere else!”
“That won’t be necessary!” Seeing Lu Yuanshan so flustered, Wang Chenning couldn’t help but feel a bit smug. “For now, just these two buildings will do. We’ll see if we need to expand in the future. Who knows, maybe the labs won’t even stay on campus. It’s not out of the question that I might move them elsewhere.”
After a pause, Wang Chenning said with a sly smile, “I’m sure there are countless people who would welcome a laboratory led by me onto their territory!”
“You little brat, are you threatening me now!” Lu Yuanshan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Fine, fine! From now on, you can call the shots at this university, happy?”
Lu Yuanshan had already heard that the “Vice” in his title of President would soon be removed. At that point, he would be the one in charge.
He knew this was all thanks to Wang Chenning, so he would never give him a hard time, no matter what.
Besides, Wang Chenning was the only person he could speak to so freely. He quite enjoyed the close, uninhibited rapport they shared.
Wang Chenning and Lu Yuanshan were both highly influential and extremely popular figures at the Yandu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Furthermore, word was slowly spreading that Lu Yuanshan would soon be promoted to president. Seeing the two of them eating together, students couldn’t help but look over with curiosity.
Photos of the two deep in discussion soon appeared on the school’s online forums and students’ social media feeds.
Soon, news that Wang Chenning was back to teaching spread across campus. Rumors quickly followed, suggesting that Wang Chenning’s ability to keep such a flexible work schedule was due to his close relationship with Lu Yuanshan.
Some people who were unhappy with Lu Yuanshan were already scheming to use this against them both.
After finishing lunch with Lu Yuanshan, Wang Chenning headed to Li Garden Hall.
Wang Chenning hadn’t told Zheng Qiuhang he would be dropping by Li Garden Hall that afternoon, so when he arrived, she wasn’t there to greet him at the entrance.
The greeter was both surprised and delighted to see Wang Chenning stroll in, hands in his pockets, and quickly reached for their walkie-talkie to notify Zheng Qiuhang.
But Wang Chenning stopped them.
“I’m just going to see if anyone has been causing trouble while I’ve been away.” Wang Chenning pointed to his SUV, adding that there were gifts for everyone in the trunk and that he would have Zheng Qiuhang arrange for their distribution later.
“It’s gold jewelry from Chow Tai Fook. I hope everyone likes it!”
The employees already knew how generous Wang Chenning was, so they were all delighted to hear this.
As it was the middle of the afternoon, there weren’t many guests, and the hall wasn’t at full capacity.
Still, nearly two-thirds of the booths and private rooms were occupied, keeping Zheng Qiuhang and the other managers quite busy.
Wang Chenning walked over to the area with the private booths but still didn’t see Zheng Qiuhang.
He did, however, run into the manager on duty.
Seeing Wang Chenning, the duty manager hurried over. After a nervous greeting, she informed him that Zheng Qiuhang was personally attending to a group of guests.
It seemed there was someone she knew in the group.
“They’re probably President Zheng’s old classmates!” the duty manager said in a low voice. “There are a dozen or so of them, men and women. I think one of them has been here a few times before!”
“Oh?” Wang Chenning raised an eyebrow. “Is he tall and handsome? The kind of guy who gives women that ‘first love’ feeling just by looking at him?”
The manager was taken aback for a moment, but after some thought, she finally nodded.
“He seems to be the one who organized today’s get-together. I think his surname is Zhou!” the duty manager added with a nod. “But it seems like President Zheng doesn’t want to pay him any attention.”
“I understand. You can get back to work,” Wang Chenning said, not pressing for more details.
The duty manager was a recent hire, so she wasn’t familiar with Zhou Jieyang and likely didn’t know the history between him and Zheng Qiuhang.
‘Zhou Jieyang, you dare show up here today and harass my woman? Just you watch how I’ll deal with you!’ Wang Chenning quickened his pace, heading in the direction of the private booth the manager had indicated.
