Chapter 437: Although the Thinking Is Realistic, Some Things Still Cannot Be Abandoned

After treating Zhao Jiefang for over an hour, Wang Chenning emerged, drenched in sweat.

Seeing his sweaty forehead, Zhao Xiao’an’s heart ached for him. She took a towel and gently wiped it for him.

Zhao Jiefang’s secretary, Huang Yajun, watched them from nearby, a look of envy in his eyes.

‘Never before had a young man been so cherished by the young miss of the Zhao family, and there had never been one so highly regarded by the Old Master, either.’

Huang Yajun knew better than anyone else in the Zhao family about the high hopes Zhao Jiefang had for Wang Chenning. He also knew that if Zhao Xiao’an continued to treat Wang Chenning with such deep and tender affection, she would ultimately be devastated.

“Uncle Huang, we’re leaving!” As Wang Chenning and Zhao Xiao’an prepared to depart, Zhao Xiao’an gave him a sweet smile. Huang Yajun smiled back and replied, “Drive safe. If you need anything, just give me a call!”

“Okay, thank you, Uncle Huang!” Wang Chenning added his thanks.

“Don’t you think Huang Yajun was acting a little strange today?” Zhao Xiao’an asked quietly as they drove off. “I felt like the way he looked at us was a bit odd.”

“He’s probably just never seen you be so gentle with anyone,” Wang Chenning replied with a laugh. “You looked like the perfect doting wife. Of course Uncle Huang would find it strange!”

“What are you talking about!” Zhao Xiao’an rolled her eyes. “I never said I was going to marry you. Don’t go calling me a ‘doting wife’!”

Wang Chenning just smiled again and said nothing more.

Zhao Xiao’an took Wang Chenning to her apartment, tossed him a change of clothes, and urged him to take a shower.

“You’re covered in sweat! Go shower, or you’ll stink!” Zhao Xiao’an pushed Wang Chenning toward the bathroom. “I’ve got a toothbrush and toothpaste ready for you!”

“Are you going to help me wash up?” Wang Chenning asked, looking at Zhao Xiao’an with a grin. “You did promise to take good care of me today!”

“Wash yourself!” Blushing, Zhao Xiao’an gave Wang Chenning a firm push and aimed a light kick at him.

Wang Chenning could only head into the bathroom by himself.

He had just stepped under the showerhead when the bathroom door was pushed gently open.

Zhao Xiao’an walked in. She had changed into a loose nightgown, her hair piled high on her head.

Her pretty face was flushed, and she exuded an ineffable allure.

Wang Chenning broke into a grin and beckoned to her. “Hurry up and scrub my back!”

Zhao Xiao’an rolled her eyes, but she still walked over obediently.

Having been apart for several days, Zhao Xiao’an found it even harder to control her emotions than Wang Chenning. She had scrubbed less than a quarter of his back before she lost her self-control.

Fifteen minutes later, looking at the water-splashed bathroom floor, Zhao Xiao’an couldn’t help but complain, “Look at the mess you made in my bathroom! You’d better clean it up yourself!”

Wang Chenning grinned. “Should I clean up the bathroom first, or… something else?”

“Whatever. I’m spent,” Zhao Xiao’an said, deliberately nestling into his embrace.

Wang Chenning tossed her soaked nightgown into the sink, wrapped a bath towel around her, and carried her out of the bathroom.

Half an hour later, Zhao Xiao’an was clinging to Wang Chenning like an octopus. She murmured with a sigh, “I can’t live without you now. What am I going to do?”

Then, she gave him a listless pinch. “You infuriating man, why did you have to come and mess with me? If you hadn’t, I’d still be perfectly happy as a host and a reporter, not spending all day thinking about… this!”

“You’re the one who insisted on interviewing me. I was trying to run away, but you wouldn’t let me!” Wang Chenning said, looking with feigned innocence at her radiant face. “Besides, without me, would your life have been elevated to such heights so quickly?”

Zhao Xiao’an adopted the air of a spoiled little vixen. “I don’t care about any of that. From now on, you have to stay by my side. Even if I marry someone else, you still have to be with me every day!”

“I’d never allow you to marry someone else. I can’t let any other man touch you.” Wang Chenning’s hand stroked her gently as he spoke, his voice tender. “Could you really accept another man treating you this way?”

Zhao Xiao’an thought about it seriously, then shook her head. “No, I really couldn’t.”

“Then that settles it. Just enjoy life and enjoy the success that’s coming,” Wang Chenning said with a sigh. “I will absolutely find a way to realize my dream, and when I do, I’ll make sure you go down in the history books with me—as the brilliant woman who discovered a once-in-a-generation talent!”

“Now that’s more like it!” Zhao Xiao’an was suddenly thrilled.

Wang Chenning had received several messages from people asking where he was that night.

Lei Danyun and Wu Ziyue had also messaged him. They wanted to come over to learn from him and receive treatment.

But Wang Chenning ignored them.

‘He was going to spend tonight properly with Zhao Xiao’an. After all, he might not have much free time or energy to be with her for the foreseeable future.’

‘He also knew her period was due in a few days, and he wanted to make sure she was comfortable when it arrived.’

‘Of course, Zhao Xiao’an knew that her brazen act of snatching him from the train station today would definitely anger some people.’

‘But she wanted to be domineering. She wanted to make those other women accept her authority.’

‘No matter how Wang Chenning interacted with them in the future, she needed them to know that she was the woman he loved most.’

‘In the two days since she’d returned, she had spoken a lot with her grandfather and father. She understood better now what she needed to do to serve her family’s interests.’

‘She was willing to sacrifice a great deal for her family’s interests, but some things were still worth fighting for.’

‘She had to become the most important, most beloved woman in Wang Chenning’s life!’
