Urban Genius Divine Doctor
Chapter 434: Direct Interception
Afterward, Luo Yuqing, Li Fuzhen, and Yang Xiaofei each made a statement. They used polite and formal language to tell everyone that they were very optimistic about Jiangdong’s development. They promised they would visit Jiangnan often in the future to look around and would strive to finalize more investment projects.
Both sides gained something from the tea party, so it was a win-win for everyone.
The luncheon was lavish, and both parties were full of enthusiasm. Li Dongjun invited Wang Chenning, Luo Yuqing, Yang Xiaofei, Li Fuzhen, and Li Yanxian to visit Jiangdong often. He said they were all honored guests of Jiangdong Province, and as long as they came, Jiangdong would receive them with the highest honors.
After the luncheon, Yang Xiaokang and several other important figures saw them off at the high-speed rail station.
Once they were seated on the high-speed train, Wang Chenning finally let out a long sigh of relief.
“We can finally go back. This trip was exhausting!” Wang Chenning said with a mischievous grin as he looked at the women, each with a different expression. “But I know this trip to Jiangnan is going to make the situation in Yandu even more complicated. If I’m not mistaken, once I’m back in Yandu, all sorts of petty schemes against me will definitely increase. Someone might even try to take my life!”
“For real?” Li Yanxian jumped, startled.
“Of course it’s real!” Luo Yuqing huffed, then asked Wang Chenning, “Are you scared?”
“Not at all!” Wang Chenning shook his head. “If they’re going to play dirty, then so will I. I refuse to believe their methods are any better than mine!”
Luo Yuqing, Li Fuzhen, Yang Xiaofei, and Li Yanxian had all witnessed Wang Chenning’s knack for sneaky tricks. They also believed he was responsible for those recent, still-unsolved incidents in Yandu.
He had effortlessly played a group of spoiled heirs like a fiddle, teaching them a harsh lesson using the most primitive methods. In doing so, he had incited conflict among them and possibly even stirred up tensions between several of the great families.
A man capable of that really had no reason to fear their underhanded tactics.
When it came to such dirty tricks, those young masters were certainly no match for Wang Chenning—unless their elders got involved.
If their elders got involved, it would no longer be a simple grudge.
By then, a huge storm could erupt among the great families of Yandu.
“No matter what, you need to be careful!” Yang Xiaofei warned. “Don’t get tripped up by something simple!”
Wang Chenning smiled. “I know, I know. Thanks for your concern!”
His reply earned him another eye-roll from Yang Xiaofei.
The group was traveling in business class. There were no other passengers in their car; it was just them.
The cabin crew recognized Wang Chenning, Yang Xiaofei, Li Fuzhen, and the others, and were naturally thrilled.
After their requests for photos were granted and they got autographs from Wang Chenning and Li Fuzhen, the attendants were tactful enough not to bother them again.
And so, they were left in peace for the entire journey north.
They also spent the trip back north summarizing the outcomes and takeaways from their visit.
Wu Jingyi and Lv Qinglan were truly cooperative assistants. The aides for Yang Xiaofei, Luo Yuqing, and Li Fuzhen were also quite good, and their summary reports were well-written.
After the different parties exchanged notes, Wang Chenning instructed Lv Qinglan to combine all the summaries into one comprehensive final report.
“Give her our summary!”
Yang Xiaofei, Luo Yuqing, and Li Fuzhen ordered their own assistants in nearly the exact same tone.
Thus, Lv Qinglan received the other summaries and then tucked herself away in another seat with Wu Jingyi to organize them.
During the trip, Wang Chenning received a call from Zhao Xiao’an, who asked when they would arrive in Yandu.
“I’ll drive over to pick you up in a bit!” Zhao Xiao’an told Wang Chenning that her grandfather, Zhao Jiefang, was feeling a little unwell and wanted Wang Chenning to come take a look.
Wang Chenning naturally agreed.
But when Luo Yuqing found out, she was indignant.
“This is just Zhao Xiao’an making up an excuse!” she sent Wang Chenning a private message to express her displeasure.
Wang Chenning replied: “You hope other people won’t get jealous, but here you are, being the first to get jealous. Is this the new ‘rules for thee, but not for me’?”
Luo Yuqing shot him an eye-roll, then simply closed her eyes to rest, ignoring him.
Nevertheless, a few hours of the journey passed quite pleasantly.
They arrived in Yandu at seven in the evening. The group had eaten the meal provided on the train, which served as a simple dinner.
If Zhao Xiao’an hadn’t come to pick up Wang Chenning, they had planned to have another meal together, but now it would have to wait until tomorrow.
Li Fuzhen and Li Yanxian’s flight back to Seoul was the next afternoon, so everyone was going to get together for lunch.
When the train pulled into Yanjing South Station, Zhao Xiao’an was already waiting for them on the platform.
“My grandpa’s heart has been bothering him the last few days. He doesn’t trust the hospital doctors and insisted on waiting for Chenning to come back!” After greeting Li Fuzhen, Li Yanxian, Yang Xiaofei, and Luo Yuqing, Zhao Xiao’an moved to intercept her target. “So I came to the station to get him. You all should go home and rest. I’ll make sure Wang Chenning gets back to school!”
With Zhao Xiao’an having said that, the other women were angry but didn’t dare to object. They could only watch helplessly as Zhao Xiao’an pulled Wang Chenning over to a BMW X5 parked on the platform.
“Is your grandpa’s heart really giving him trouble?” Wang Chenning asked curiously after getting in the car. “It seemed perfectly fine before!”
“He just wanted to see you!” Zhao Xiao’an said with a grin. “You’ve caused quite a stir lately, and it’s made him even more interested in you!”
“Fair enough!”
