Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Wang Chenning’s Weight Was Heavier Than They Thought
Luo Yuqing arrived at Wuqufang Restaurant half an hour later.
By the time she got there, the table was already laden with the restaurant’s signature dishes, and fine wine had been served.
Wang Chenning, Dai Xingfeng, and the other key figures were deep in conversation; Dai Xingfeng had even taken the initiative to invite Wang Chenning to invest in Gusu.
Luo Yuqing had such a powerful presence that the men guarding the private room didn’t dare to stop her. They obediently led her inside.
The moment the radiant Luo Yuqing walked in, all eyes in the room were drawn to her.
Upon seeing Luo Yuqing clearly, the expressions on the faces of Zhao Xiao’an and Yang Xiaofei changed. Li Fuzhen and Li Yanxian had equally peculiar expressions.
Dai Xingfeng was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly recognized Luo Yuqing and was overjoyed.
"Ah, Miss Luo!" He quickly rose and hurried over to greet her. "Hello, hello! A very warm welcome to Gusu, Miss Luo!"
’A bad situation has turned into a good one. Not only were Wang Chenning, Yang Xiaofei, Zhao Xiao’an, Li Fuzhen, and Li Yanxian in Gusu, but now Luo Yuqing, that absolute terror, was here to stir things up as well.’
Because he had previously met Zhao Xiao’an’s father and grandfather and had even paid a visit to the Zhao family’s ancestral home, Dai Xingfeng was aware of Luo Yuqing’s fearsome reputation. The two of them had even met a few times.
However, Luo Yuqing was notoriously proud and didn’t pay much mind to people of Dai Xingfeng’s stature yet, so they were merely nodding acquaintances.
But Dai Xingfeng knew Luo Yuqing’s standing, and he made sure to act respectfully in front of everyone.
Most of Dai Xingfeng’s subordinates knew nothing of the power struggles in Yandu, nor did they have any idea who Luo Yuqing was. They were surprised to see him treat this beautiful latecomer with such respect.
Wang Chenning stood up to introduce Luo Yuqing and also clarified her connection to Zhao Xiao’an.
In reality, these people weren’t very clear on Zhao Xiao’an’s background either. Most of them assumed she was just a famous host from Central TV and Wang Chenning’s rumored girlfriend. Only Dai Xingfeng knew Zhao Xiao’an’s true identity, but he didn’t reveal it.
Even though the others weren’t sure of Zhao Xiao’an and Luo Yuqing’s exact status, they saw how respectfully Dai Xingfeng acted. Moreover, Wang Chenning, Zhao Xiao’an, and Yang Xiaofei all treated Luo Yuqing like their "boss," so they didn’t dare to be discourteous.
As usual, Luo Yuqing acted with her typical unceremonious flair. She didn’t greet anyone, offering only a slight nod before boldly taking a seat next to Wang Chenning, forcing Zhao Xiao’an to shift aside.
Though angry, Zhao Xiao’an could only helplessly accept it.
Wang Chenning had wanted her to sit between him and Dai Xingfeng, but Luo Yuqing refused, so he had to drop the idea.
Dai Xingfeng wasn’t about to snub Luo Yuqing. As soon as she arrived, he shifted the focus of the conversation to her.
Luo Yuqing was quite pleased with this.
But she was no pushover. After sitting down, she openly expressed her displeasure with Gusu. She said that Wang Chenning and Zhao Xiao’an’s group had come here only to be nearly wiped out, that the incident was extremely serious, and that if the elders back home found out, it would surely cause a huge uproar.
Her words didn’t just make the others’ expressions change; Dai Xingfeng’s face fell completely. He was surprised by her bluntness and was genuinely afraid of the consequences if word of this incident got out and displeased certain elders.
If Zhao Xiao’an had been frightened or injured, Zhao Jiefang would have flown into a thunderous rage, and he would have been in enormous trouble.
In fact, he didn’t even need Zhao Jiefang to get involved. Just Luo Yuqing’s displeasure was enough to cause him serious trouble.
Thus, Dai Xingfeng could only adopt a humble attitude. With an apologetic smile, he recounted what had happened and promised once again to handle the matter with the utmost seriousness. He also pledged to improve public safety to ensure nothing similar would ever happen again.
Only then did Luo Yuqing soften her tone.
However, her tone was still sharp. She even said outright that Qiantang was simply better than Gusu, which was a major reason why Wang Chenning, Yang Xiaofei, and Li Fuzhen were willing to make such large investments there.
She explained that she and Wang Chenning had arranged to meet in Gusu and had originally planned to seriously evaluate the city’s investment climate, but now they were having second thoughts.
Luo Yuqing’s words left Dai Xingfeng and the others with mixed feelings of alarm and delight. They were delighted to hear that Wang Chenning had genuinely considered investing in Gusu, but alarmed that tonight’s incident might cause them to back out.
Dai Xingfeng reiterated his promise to create a superior investment environment, one where any investor in Gusu could feel completely safe and secure.
The other key figures present also gave their assurances.
Some of them also knew that Wu Jianping, the chubby, middle-aged man who had misbehaved earlier that evening, was now in deep trouble.
Whether or not Wang Chenning’s group decided to press the issue, Wu Jianping would undoubtedly be made an example of.
After offering another round of heartfelt apologies, Dai Xingfeng stated that he would personally make time the next day to escort Wang Chenning and Luo Yuqing on their inspection of Gusu’s investment climate. He added that he was willing to listen to any of their concerns and would make changes based on their suggestions.
Luo Yuqing was quite satisfied with Dai Xingfeng’s offer.
But she didn’t let him off the hook entirely. She stated bluntly, "Tomorrow, we plan to just casually wander through some of Gusu’s scenic areas. We need to unwind first. After all, our Teacher Wang came to Jiangnan for a vacation. Spring is in full bloom, and we want to enjoy the beautiful scenery!"
Dai Xingfeng immediately replied that he would have their itinerary arranged and would assign the best guides and drivers to serve them.
Dai Xingfeng also asked Wang Chenning to help promote Gusu, mentioning that Zhuozheng Garden, Huqiu, Hanshan Temple, and Jinji Lake were all excellent attractions, rich with historical charm. He added that it was the peak tourist season and hoped more people would visit Gusu.
"I’ll try to post on Weibo about our day after we tour the sights of Gusu tomorrow!" Wang Chenning replied with a cheerful smile. "I hope the day is filled with joy and romance. Our experience in Qiantang, by West Lake, was wonderful. Hopefully, our time in Gusu will be just as good!"
Hearing this, Dai Xingfeng shot a meaningful glance at the official in charge of culture and tourism. The man understood immediately, pulling out his phone to send a text and make the arrangements.
The meal finally concluded at half past eleven, and only because Wang Chenning pointed out how late it was and suggested everyone should get some rest.
Dai Xingfeng, who had hoped to talk longer with Wang Chenning’s group, could only reluctantly agree.
As he shook hands and bid farewell to Wang Chenning’s party, he proposed hosting a banquet for them the following evening. He explained that during the dinner, he intended to give Wang Chenning, Luo Yuqing, Yang Xiaofei, Zhao Xiao’an, and Li Fuzhen a detailed presentation on Gusu, and he hoped they would honor him with their presence.
Luo Yuqing was very pleased with Dai Xingfeng’s attitude, but she didn’t commit, deferring instead to Wang Chenning.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Dai," Wang Chenning replied with a smile. "Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will certainly be there."
"Alright. In that case, we’ll go with Chenning," Luo Yuqing immediately agreed with a nod.
The other women all agreed as well.
This surprised Dai Xingfeng and his colleagues.
’Wang Chenning’s influence was even greater than they had imagined...’
