Urban All-Round Master
Chapter 2174 - 2163: Internal Strife Looms in the Holy Hall
In the Mortal World, in the blink of an eye three days had passed, and these three days Beiming Yu could only be described as having a pounding headache.
The two protectors of the Buddhist Sect were killed right in Zhonghai City. Even though they already knew the culprit was the Demon God Sect, for now the Holy Hall still couldn’t march up and slaughter their way into the Demon God Sect, for fear of provoking an even bigger mess.
"Sister Beiming, if there’s something weighing on your heart, you can tell us. Even if we can’t do much, at the very least we can help shoulder some of it for you."
Inside the conference room, watching Beiming Yu sit there motionless, her expression taut, made Black Hawk and the others anxious. The death of the two Buddhist protectors did deliver a heavy blow to the Holy Hall. If they couldn’t find the real killer and give the Buddhist protectors some justice, Beiming Yu herself would be feeling very uncomfortable inside.
"Yeah, Sister Beiming, if you keep going on like this, our Holy Hall really will be finished. Just give the word." Bu Chen looked worried.
Three days had gone by without Beiming Yu issuing a single order, and that had all the brothers in the Holy Hall burning with anxiety.
In their eyes, Beiming Yu was not someone this indecisive. She’d always been unmatched in wisdom, yet now she hadn’t said a single word. That was clearly off.
"Brothers, listen to me. This matter is extremely serious. All of you go out and let me calm down alone for a bit." Beiming Yu waved her hand; she really did want some time alone to cool her head.
"This..."
Huo Zhengfeng grew anxious, but in the end there was nothing he could do. He could only lead everyone out of the conference room. However, inside the room, Black Hawk did not leave right away.
He walked lightly to the conference room door, gently closed it, frowned, his face slightly stiff, not knowing how to begin. Then he turned around and walked back to stand in front of Beiming Yu.
He hunched his waist like a cat, coughed twice, then drew in a deep breath to steady himself.
"Yingzi, why aren’t you leaving?" Beiming Yu slowly raised her head, her beautiful eyes flashing with an unusual light as she shot Black Hawk a grave look.
"Sister Beiming, there are no outsiders now, just the two of us. If something’s wrong, just tell me." Black Hawk mustered his courage and said, "I know, with Sister Beiming’s wisdom there must be some trickiness involved. I know we’re all pretty stupid, and ever since this happened we’ve had no idea how to face it or solve it. I know Sister Beiming must have guessed something, otherwise you wouldn’t be in this much pain."
"Yingzi, what are you trying to say?" Beiming Yu lifted her head.
"Sister Beiming, just tell me the truth. I know you’re definitely hiding something. There’s no one else here, only you and me. Whatever it is, just say it straight."
Black Hawk wasn’t good at beating around the bush. He only knew right and wrong. From the time they’d been together, he understood Sister Beiming’s character.
Beiming Yu wore a wistful, bitter smile and shook her head, her heart tangled and struggling. She didn’t know whether she should say what she was thinking. After all, this was a big matter; saying it out loud might not do her any good, and for the Holy Hall it would be nothing but harmful.
But some things she had to say. The longer they dragged it out, the worse it would be for the current Holy Hall.
"Yingzi, since you want to know why, then I’ll tell you. But you have to help your big sister keep this secret. You can’t let a third person know. Can you do that?"
Beiming Yu hesitated for several seconds, but in the end she still decided to speak. After all, keeping it buried in the depths of her inner World would only make her suffer more. It was better to say it out.
"Don’t worry, Sister Beiming. I, Yingzi, don’t have any special skills, but I keep my mouth tight. Even if someone puts a knife to my neck, I definitely won’t let slip half a word." Black Hawk nodded solemnly.
Beiming Yu nodded, very satisfied, and smiled. "I suspect we have a traitor inside the Holy Hall!"
"What! A traitor!" Black Hawk’s mind roared, his tiger-like frame subconsciously shuddering. He glared in disbelief and lowly growled, "Sister Beiming, this is not something to joke about. Some words can be said, but some absolutely cannot be thrown around. Sister Beiming, are you sure you’ve checked this clearly? We brothers followed Brother Lin through life and death, fought to carve out territory and a world. The Holy Hall is like our home."
Black Hawk was worked up. They’d followed Lin Zifeng to conquer the World, so of course they trusted their brothers deeply, trusted them enough to leave their backs to each other. If they’d had doubts, they never would’ve built the foundation they had now.
If you said there was a traitor inside the Holy Hall, you could beat Black Hawk to death and he still wouldn’t believe it.
"Yingzi, I understand how you feel, and I know how hard your journey has been. Brothers are supposed to trust one another, with no room for doubt. I also don’t want this to be true. But this time, I’m profoundly unwilling to believe it, and yet my intuition tells me something has gone wrong in our Holy Hall. We have no choice but to face it."
Before telling Black Hawk, Beiming Yu had wrestled with it for a long time. But this was something she had to tell him; otherwise, if time dragged on, it wouldn’t be good for the Holy Hall.
If one day that traitor really showed their fangs, and they hadn’t given everyone enough buffer time, then when it happened the brothers would find it extremely hard to accept.
"Sister Beiming, then tell me—who is the traitor? I, Yingzi, will drag him out no matter what!" Black Hawk’s temper was fierce, and that made Beiming Yu feel uneasy, unsure whether telling him now was right or wrong.
"Yingzi, no need to rush. As for who it is, I’m still not clear. I just wanted to give you a heads-up beforehand." Beiming Yu said.
"Sister Beiming, this is a huge matter; we can’t be careless. I understand how you feel right now. The deaths of those two Buddhist protectors are definitely not a good thing for our Holy Hall. But more than those two protectors, what I care about is the brotherhood within our Holy Hall. I don’t know exactly what’s wrong in our Hall, but there’s one thing I firmly believe: our brothers would never do something that betrays us. Sister Beiming, you have to investigate this thoroughly, down to the last detail. We mustn’t let the brothers of the Holy Hall suffer unjustly."
"Yingzi, I understand your feelings right now, but my feelings—aren’t they the same as yours? There’s a lot of trickiness in the deaths of the Buddhist protectors. Think about it: when those two protectors left that day, didn’t I already have you all secretly guarding their movements? So why did you end up off-position and run to another dock instead, failing to help the protectors in Time? Think about it—doesn’t that smell fishy to you?"
Beiming Yu knew Black Hawk was very unhappy with her raising the issue of a traitor.
She had no choice. For the Holy Hall, for the foundation Lin Zifeng had fought to build, Beiming Yu had to shoulder this responsibility.
