Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway
Chapter 187 - 189: Dangerous Xi Yi
Chapter 187: Chapter 189: Dangerous Xi Yi
Even though Fu Feng sped up, Su Luoluo remained quite steady on his back. The things she had hung on his wings didn’t sway in the slightest.
It had to be said, avians were in a class of their own. Su Luoluo felt much more relieved now.
A short while later, Fu Feng landed with her on the ground.
Fu Feng stared at the verdant stretch of bushes before them, a look of confusion on his face. "Luoluo, what are we doing here? There’s nothing special about the grass here."
Su Luoluo activated her Earth Element’s detection ability and began searching for Flower Wood Mice. Hearing him, she replied as she walked, "Who said I came to look at grass? I’m here to find something else."
"Something else?" Fu Feng glanced around. "But there’s nothing else here."
"Shh! I see one."
As she spoke, Su Luoluo conjured a white pillar of water from her palm and shot it toward a multi-colored mouse. The creature was instantly pinned in place by her stream of water.
Seeing it immobilized, Su Luoluo walked over. After shielding herself with her Water Ability, she took out a prepared cotton swab. She picked up the mouse and examined it, and upon spotting the scab, she carefully scraped it off with the swab. Then, she placed the entire swab into a prepared U-shaped bamboo tube, sealed it, marked it with a bit of mud, and put it back in her Beast Skin Bag.
Fu Feng watched her catch the mouse, initially thinking she was going to eat it. But when he saw her just rubbing its scab with that white thing, he was completely baffled. "What are you doing?"
"I’m looking for a cure for the plague."
"You’re saying something from this mouse can cure the sickness?" Hearing this, Fu Feng’s face was a picture of disbelief.
"Mhm. The Heavenly God told me in my sleep yesterday."
This type of flower rat loves to be around fruit bats, and is even something fruit bats often eat. Yet, they live just fine.
It didn’t take much to figure out that these flower rats carried antibodies for the plague in their bodies, and their scabs were the most natural form of antibody medicine.
This was a method she had read about in ancient texts from the Post-apocalypse: the "scab method" most commonly used by the ancients.
Xiao Ye arrived a little late. Seeing Su Luoluo playing with a mouse, he too was baffled. "What’s going on? Are we eating mice?"
"Luoluo, if you want some, I can catch a whole bunch for you."
Snakes were the best beastmen at catching mice.
Hearing this, Su Luoluo shot him a look. "Mice are so dirty, what’s there to eat? But your timing is perfect. Watch what I do, then help me get the scabs off these mice."
With that, Su Luoluo demonstrated the process for them. The men watched once and learned instantly.
After confirming they had the procedure down, Su Luoluo distributed some U-shaped bamboo tubes and cotton swabs to them from her Beast Skin Bag. "Be careful with these. Don’t waste my cotton swabs."
The three of them nodded. "Don’t worry, Luoluo. It’s just a few mice. Catching them is like a game to us."
Although their Beast Ranks were high, Su Luoluo still used her Water Ability to perform a purification on the three of them. Once she was sure there were no issues, she said, "Alright, let’s get to work! The sooner we finish, the sooner we can go back. There are a lot of them—at least a few thousand here."
Hearing her words, the men nodded and quickly got to work.
It had to be said, they weren’t just bragging. The mice were like toys in their hands. In no time, a considerable number of flower rats were piled at their feet.
The pile at Xiao Ye’s feet was even more exaggerated; he had at least a small mountain of them. The mere sight made Su Luoluo’s scalp tingle. She moved a little farther away from him before starting on her own task.
Among the four of them, her efficiency was the lowest. Still, it was better than nothing. After all, she wasn’t a beastman and wasn’t as skilled at this as they were.
They worked for the better part of the day, finally managing to fill all one thousand of the bamboo tubes Su Luoluo had prepared.
On the way back, Su Luoluo once again rode on Fu Feng’s back.
Now that he knew what Su Luoluo was working on, Xiao Ye didn’t fight to have her ride on his back.
Although he could also fly steadily, that guy Fu Feng was indeed a bit better at it. He’d just hit some turbulence passing through a cloud, nearly flipping over. ’I need more practice.’
And on the way back, Mo Xuan was still riding on his back.
Nearing the tribe, Su Luoluo used her Water Element to purify them. She had the three men catch a wolf infected with the plague and lock it in a wooden cage.
Then, she took a cotton swab from her Beast Skin Bag, used a vine to hold it in front of the wolf’s nose, and made sure it inhaled the contents. She then had the three men lock it up again, telling them to keep a close eye on the wolf’s condition and report back to her with any news.
After getting all this done, Su Luoluo returned to the tribe and administered another round of temporary treatment to Su Yang.
Just like yesterday, she focused on lowering his temperature. After confirming Su Yang’s breathing was normal, she retracted the vines.
She had just turned around when she saw Luan Ting, Nantu, and Xi Yi standing a short distance away. Remembering the task she had given them, she asked, "Has the food all been distributed?"
Luan Ting nodded. "It’s been divided among all the families according to their household size."
Distributing supplies was no easy task; there was a lot to consider. Su Luoluo felt at ease leaving the job to Luan Ting and the other two.
Xi Yi had no patience for the pleasantries. He crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Luoluo, where did you just go? How come I saw you riding on Fu Feng’s back?"
’This Black Bear has sharp eyes. Fu Feng just flew past in the sky, and he still saw us.’
Su Luoluo had nothing to hide and said frankly, "Yesterday, the Heavenly God gave me a sign, telling me that the scabs of flower rats could cure the plague. So I went with them to find some."
"Really? That’s wonderful! Did the leader just use the scabs?" Nantu asked, pleasantly surprised.
Su Luoluo shook her head. "Even though the Heavenly God guided me to it, I decided to test it on the wolf first. If it’s cured by tomorrow, then it should be safe to use."
Although this method had a very high success rate, Su Luoluo still decided to experiment on a wolf first—a species similar to Su Yang’s. If it was completely cured, then there shouldn’t be a major problem.
Nantu nodded upon hearing this. "That’s the right call. It’s better to test it first."
A hint of happiness also appeared in Luan Ting’s expression as he listened. Only Xi Yi watched Su Luoluo thoughtfully. "Luoluo really is favored by the Heavenly God. He tells you everything, doesn’t he!"
The "guidance from the Heavenly God" was just a shield Su Luoluo had come up with.
After the "Black Bear Foster Mother" excuse stopped being effective, she’d thought for a long time before suddenly realizing the Heavenly God was a perfect replacement. So she started using that one.
’But what is this Lizard being so sarcastic about? Don’t tell me he knows something?’
Su Luoluo looked at him with suspicion, but his eyes seemed perfectly normal.
’No way. He couldn’t possibly know about something like transmigration. It must just be a coincidence.’
After a busy day, Su Luoluo was already exhausted. After washing up and lying in bed, just as she was about to close her eyes, she suddenly felt something wet on her hand.
She groggily looked over and found Xi Yi holding her hand and kissing it. "Luoluo, I’ve been waiting for you. After tonight, let’s form a Contract Totem!"
Those words jolted Su Luoluo wide awake. Xi Yi’s incomparably handsome face was looking down at her with a grin.
’How did this guy get in here?’
’Oh, I almost forgot. It’s his turn today.’
Su Luoluo pulled the blanket tighter around herself and pointed to an empty spot in the distance. "If I recall, I only agreed to let you stand watch for the night. You can sleep over there."
Xi Yi didn’t move. He looked at her, his eyes a little forlorn. "Luoluo, what you’re saying is so hurtful. Does your Mother know?"
Su Luoluo froze. "What?"
The Lizard, finished speaking, closed in on Su Luoluo with a smile. He idly stroked her chin and said gently, "Your Mother sent me a letter a few days ago. Would you like to see it?"
Hearing this, Su Luoluo instantly went rigid. It seemed the thing she feared most was about to happen.
