Chapter 10: You Liar
Chapter 10: Chapter 10: You Liar
Su Luoluo moved quickly. One after another, she stuffed the duck eggs into her mouth, and the eggs in the bamboo tube vanished before Xiao Ye’s very eyes.
Her full lips were stained with grease, and she looked utterly savage.
Xiao Ye stared in stunned disbelief. Su Luoluo was getting more and more disgusting.
Even the way she ate a simple duck egg was enough to make one want to vomit.
After finishing, Su Luoluo raised an eyebrow. "Want some? Sorry, all gone."
Xiao Ye, who had been feeling a bit peckish, completely lost his appetite after watching Su Luoluo’s barbaric display.
No one in history had ever eaten so barbarically.
He left with a look of utter disgust.
Even though he still craved the taste of the duck eggs, he no longer had any desire to eat them.
Once Xiao Ye was gone, Su Luoluo’s eyes quickly glanced down. There, inside the bamboo tube, sat two perfectly yellow duck eggs.
She had hidden them when Xiao Ye wasn’t looking. They were the duck eggs she had promised to bring Luan Ting. If Xiao Ye had found them, they would have been gone for sure.
Su Luoluo’s eyes curved into crescents as she picked up the bamboo tube and secured it.
She put away the pouch of salt and took the duck eggs to find Luan Ting.
Luan Ting was still in the same spot, carving a weapon with a stone knife. Seeing his focused expression, Su Luoluo smiled, smoothed down her skirt, and walked over.
"Luan Ting, here are the duck eggs I made. Thank you for the salt."
The last time she’d come over, her skirt had been rolled up. Although Luan Ting hadn’t said anything, Su Luoluo had noticed his brow furrow slightly.
It was obvious he hadn’t approved of her behavior.
Su Luoluo was mindful of it this time and had made a point to let her skirt down.
Luan Ting didn’t look up at her words, his expression indifferent. "No, thank you. You can have them."
Su Luoluo’s brow twitched. ’He’s clearly annoyed with me, he’s just not showing it.’
’Still, she had discovered last time that Luan Ting was a kind-hearted person who generally didn’t make things difficult for others.’
’Even when she had deceived him, he hadn’t gotten angry.’
’Of course, that didn’t mean he was a complete pushover.’
’To win him over, all I can do for now is play the "nice girl" card.’
She nudged the bamboo tube closer to him, not giving up easily. "Just try it. They smell amazing."
When Luan Ting still didn’t move, Su Luoluo took the chopsticks, picked up a piece of duck egg, and popped it directly into his mouth.
Luan Ting clearly hadn’t expected her to do that. Caught completely off guard, he suddenly had a mouthful of duck egg.
The savory, oily flavor of the egg instantly spread through his mouth. It was soft and fragrant—completely different from the duck eggs he was used to.
Seeing him pause, Su Luoluo grinned. "It’s good, isn’t it?"
Luan Ting chewed a few times and swallowed. He gave a rare nod. "Yes, it’s good."
When Su Luoluo saw Luan Ting respond, her eyes curved into crescents, and she beamed.
’Finally, I’m one step closer to him.’
Seeing that he had only eaten one bite, she pushed the container toward him again. "There’s more. If you like them, have some more."
With her looking at him so expectantly, Luan Ting found it impossible to refuse and ate a few more pieces.
"If you like them, I can make them for you again in the future, okay?" Seeing how readily Luan Ting was eating what she made gave Su Luoluo a sense of accomplishment.
The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop them.
Luan Ting froze at her words. He stopped and gave Su Luoluo a strange look.
’In the past, she always demanded that I cook for her. She’d throw a tantrum if she didn’t get to eat. Now, she seemed to have changed.’
’And what she just said...’
’Luan Ting felt that hearing those words from Su Luoluo’s mouth... something was off.’
After doing all this, Su Luoluo waited for the system’s notification to sound.
But after a long wait, the system remained silent. Instead, a furious roar echoed through the air. "Su Luoluo, how dare you trick me!"
Su Luoluo looked up toward the source of the voice. Xiao Ye had returned at some point.
Hearing his voice, her eyes darted about evasively. After a quick scan revealed no escape route, she ducked behind Luan Ting.
Xiao Ye had already walked a fair distance before he realized something had been off.
’There were supposed to be six duck eggs, so why did they look so small when Su Luoluo was eating them?’
’At the time, he’d been focused on her lips and hadn’t noticed that the size of the eggs was wrong.’
To confirm his suspicion, he had deliberately returned to where Luan Ting had been.
Seeing Su Luoluo feeding Luan Ting, he knew for sure that she had just tricked him right under his nose.
Luan Ting’s brow furrowed when he heard that Su Luoluo had deceived someone again.
Seeing her hide behind Luan Ting, Xiao Ye refused to let her off and reached out to grab her.
Su Luoluo dodged and shouted, "How did I trick you? Weren’t you the one who said to cook two duck eggs?"
"There were six in total. The other four are mine. That’s perfectly reasonable."
"I said to cook two *first*. I never said I *only* wanted two."
Listening to Su Luoluo and Xiao Ye’s argument, Luan Ting started to understand the whole story.
Seeing Xiao Ye’s hand about to grab Su Luoluo, he quickly intervened.
Xiao Ye’s expression soured when he saw Luan Ting step in. "Luan Ting, you’re protecting her again."
Of all the Beastmen, Luan Ting was the most protective of Su Luoluo. No matter what she did, he was always the first to stand in front of her.
Luan Ting’s expression didn’t change at the accusation. He just said calmly, "She is our female master. You should not harm her."
"Harm her?" Xiao Ye scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. "Someone like her? It’d be a waste of my energy to even lift a finger. Who would bother bullying her?"
"Then what are you doing right now?" Luan Ting replied, giving him a once-over.
Xiao Ye retracted his hand, a smirk on his lips. "Well, she’s the one who tricked me."
"She said she didn’t trick you, that she only cooked two duck eggs," Luan Ting repeated, recalling what Su Luoluo had said.
Xiao Ye saw that Luan Ting was determined to protect Su Luoluo to the end and prepared to fight him.
Just then, another Beastman approached. "Luan Ting, the leader is asking for you."
Luan Ting nodded. "I’ll be right there."
Seeing that Luan Ting had to leave, Xiao Ye shot Su Luoluo a taunting smirk. The look terrified her.
She grabbed Luan Ting’s hand. "I’m going with you. Otherwise, I’m afraid I’ll be beaten to death after you leave."
Luan Ting raised an eyebrow. "If you’re so afraid of him hitting you, why did you trick him?"
"I... It wasn’t really a trick! I was the one who found those duck eggs first. He claimed he spotted them yesterday and insisted they were his. What was I supposed to do?"
As she spoke, Su Luoluo rolled her eyes. "Besides, if I hadn’t done that, there wouldn’t have been any duck eggs left for you."
Luan Ting hadn’t expected her to say that. Seeing that her gaze didn’t waver and her words sounded plausible, he said calmly, "Then stay away from him next time."
Su Luoluo was delighted to hear him say that. "Does this mean you believe me?"
Luan Ting said, "You have no reason to lie over a few duck eggs."
A warm feeling spread through Su Luoluo’s heart. No matter what, Luan Ting was still willing to believe her.
The two of them left together. Xiao Ye didn’t chase after them. Su Luoluo followed Luan Ting for a ways, just about to part ways.
