Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway

Chapter 11: The Blackening Dye

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Blackening Dye

The two left together. Xiao Ye didn’t chase after them. Su Luoluo walked a ways with Luan Ting, and they were about to part ways.

Another Beastman came over and shouted, "Luan Ting, hurry up! The leader is calling for you."

Upon hearing this, Luan Ting quickly went with him.

Su Luoluo saw that the Beastman who had arrived was in a hurry, as if something had happened.

But it seemed the tribe had only notified the Beastmen, so it was probably something others weren’t meant to know.

After Luan Ting left, Su Luoluo also headed down another path.

As she walked, she thought to herself, ’Losing weight has to be a step-by-step process. I can’t get thin overnight.’

’My birthmark and skin whitening need to be dealt with, too.’

’If only I had access to a laser. One treatment and this birthmark would be gone in a flash.’

Then again, she had seen birthmarks on people back in the Post-apocalypse, and they were somehow different from hers. She couldn’t quite put her finger on what the difference was.

’Without skin-whitening injections, just staying out of the sun will make it very hard to lighten my skin.’

Su Luoluo thought about the face masks she used to use in the Post-apocalypse. This primitive society didn’t have them, so she’d just have to make her own.

’Arbutin and Vitamin C are out of the question, but pearl powder... that might be possible.’

At this thought, Su Luoluo ran to the riverbank. She focused her will, and a moment later, white beads of water materialized in her palm.

With a shift of her thoughts, the water in her palm shot into the river with a WHOOSH, then began to search rapidly beneath the surface.

Upon locating the river clams, the pillar of white water in her palm whipped toward the bank, instantly flinging a pile of them onto the ground.

Su Luoluo picked up a clam and pried it open with a stone knife. Instantly, a silvery-white pearl appeared before her eyes.

The pearl’s quality wasn’t great—its surface was pitted—but it was more than enough to make a face mask.

With no pollution or over-harvesting in this primitive society, the clams were full of pearls.

Su Luoluo pried open a few more, washed the pearls clean, and brought them back to her cave.

Inside the cave, she found the stone mortar she usually used for crushing leafy greens. She put the pearls inside and ground them into a fine powder. Then, she added a bit of water, mixed it into a paste, and smeared it all over her face and body.

When Fu Feng arrived to deliver meat to Su Luoluo, he saw a ghastly white face lying near the cave entrance, looking like a corpse that had been evenly coated in white ash.

The sight was startling at first, but the person applying the substance seemed quite happy, humming a song he had never heard before as she worked.

"I love to bathe, my skin feels great. I love to bathe, and make my skin so white..."

The lyrics sounded a bit ridiculous.

’Ever since that Su Luoluo came back up from the river, it’s like her mind has gotten sharper, not to mention she’s started acting stranger and stranger.’

The song was childish yet amusing. Before he knew it, Fu Feng found himself standing there, not leaving.

He stepped forward, about to touch the white powder to see what it was, when Su Luoluo shifted.

Covered head to toe in the powder, she seemed to glow white in the sunlight, looking rather eerie.

’This idiot. Don’t tell me she thinks she’s too dark, so she’s smearing on some white powder to look paler!’

’I’ve heard of some tribes where people who aren’t dark enough apply special dyes to make themselves look darker, giving them an air of mystery and power.’

’But even if she paints herself white, she’s still just a fat white pig.’

Fu Feng thought with contempt.

Su Luoluo had her eyes closed, waiting for the mask to be absorbed. In a daze, she saw a figure flash in front of her.

Startled, she snapped her eyes open and saw Fu Feng staring at her strangely.

There was a look of contempt in his eyes, and he seemed to be holding something.

Su Luoluo jumped. She looked at the man standing in the entrance. "Fu... Fu Feng? Do you need something?"

Fu Feng tossed the meat down in front of her and snorted coldly. "Even if you paint yourself white, you’re not going to get any prettier. Stop wasting your energy and making the tribe laugh at us."

Su Luoluo: "??"

’I’m putting on a mask in my own home. What business is it of yours?’

She immediately shot back, "I’m just minding my own business here! How am I embarrassing you!"

"You’d better just stay in your cave alone. That dye won’t make you white; it’ll only make you a bigger fool!"

As Su Luoluo’s Beastmen, every time she pulled one of her "earth-shattering" stunts, they were brutally mocked as well.

Su Luoluo: "???"

’Dye?’

’What dye? I didn’t use any dye!’

’This is genuine pearl powder, okay?’

’Are you blind?!’

But before Su Luoluo could argue, Fu Feng left, his face grim.

Su Luoluo watched the baffling man go and shook her head. ’Forget his eyes, his heart is blind, too.’

She rubbed her face. It felt dry, so she washed off the pearl paste.

Looking at her reflection in the small pool of water inside, she could see that even though the image was blurry, she was still undeniably ugly. The way her birthmark seemed to ripple with the water made it even harder to look at.

’If only I could get rid of this eyesore.’

Suddenly, she remembered what Fu Feng had said about dye.

’Lan Ya is quite fair-skinned. How could she have given birth to someone as dark as me?’

’Even if I wasn’t fair, I should have a much lighter complexion!’

At this thought, she called out to the system. "System, I have a question for you."

"Please ask, Host."

"Is there a dye that can turn a person’s skin dark?"

"Yes."

Su Luoluo’s eyes lit up. "What’s the plant called?"

"The Black Phoenix Fruit. Some tribes use it to darken their skin to look more formidable."

"Then where can I find it?"

"Why do you ask?"

Her question put the system on alert.

Su Luoluo paused. ’Other people get sweet, caring systems. Why is mine so difficult?’

Her eyes darted around as she said, "Don’t you think my fingernails are a little plain? My hands are dark, so wouldn’t it look better if my nails were dark, too?"

The system’s lips twitched, but it finally, reluctantly, accepted her explanation.

"The fruit is oval-shaped with a prickly exterior. It often grows alongside thorny grass."

Su Luoluo fell into thought after hearing the description.

In the blink of an eye, she was out the door, searching for the Black Phoenix Fruit.

Of course, she wasn’t actually looking for the Black Phoenix Fruit to dye her nails. She wanted to see if her face had been dyed.

She remembered that the original owner of this body had been raised by a Black Bear. It was a long shot, but... it wasn’t impossible.

The system’s description was very clear. Su Luoluo found the fruits of the Black Phoenix Fruit right under some thorny grass. They were a deep, purplish-black.

She didn’t rush to pick the fruit, however. Instead, she plucked a few leaves from the plant.

’Everything in nature has its opposite,’ she thought. ’Maybe these leaves are the antidote to the dye.’

’Isn’t there a saying that the cure is always found within three steps of the poison?’

She crushed one of the Black Phoenix Fruits, and sure enough, her already dark finger turned even darker, dyeing her pale-pink nail completely black. Then, Su Luoluo crushed the leaves she had just picked and rubbed them on her finger.

A moment later, her nail was completely clean again.

Seeing this, Su Luoluo’s confidence surged. She gathered a large quantity of the Black Phoenix Fruit leaves.

Since she would be using it on her face, she mashed the leaves with a stone and applied the pulp to her skin.

After waiting a while, she washed her face. It did seem to be a little bit lighter.

It wasn’t a very noticeable difference, though. She wondered if she was just imagining it.

To test her theory, she crushed all the remaining Black Phoenix Fruit leaves and applied them to her face.

This time, she lay down on her bed, planning to leave the mask on all night to see if it would have a real effect.

She had just lain down when the system’s voice sounded.
